I love credit cards so much! v6.0 - 2023 (see first page for add'l details)

Had to cancel June booking for Swan as DS has a soccer tournament that weekend. Back to struggling to use my Marriott 5-50k FNC. Everything I'm remotely interested in my FNC aren't eligible. I feel like staying at a Residence Innis a waste of a 50k night. Looking for July now, no place hot.

Anyone been to Moxy Banff? Other suggestions?
ETA. Nevermind. I guess Moxy is opening in January

If you can swing Banff, then go! It's high on my list of places to visit. The Moxy looks like it's in a great location. Go for it!!

On another note, AmEx told me that I'd have my FNC and HH points from my July HH personal card (MSR met Sept. 8th) by today. Unsurprisingly no points and no FNC in my account. I placed another call to AmEx -- the CSR told me (after I gave her my case number) that since I already had other AmEx cards I didn't qualify for the SUB. I let her ramble on for a few minutes before asking that she thoroughly read the case notes; she apologized profusely and put me through to a supervisor. The supervisor is going to "contact the back office" for an update and get back to me tomorrow. At this point I am wondering if I'll ever see the SUB.

Funny! My older DD who will travel anywhere at the drop of a hat made reservations at a 'new' Moxy for 35k certs plus some points for this summer at Banff. She found return flights for her, a friend and her 2 girls for $250 each. She may be riding on a wing for all I know for that price. Not sure what dates she's going, but renting a car and heading to Banff NP is part of her plan. I then told her, that her younger married cousin whom she saw/met once in the 90ties (she's 45) just bought a house near Calgary as he got a new engineering job of some kind. She told me to let them know she's coming so they can meet up!

The Moxy Banff looks interesting except the bathroom with translucent screens instead of walls. If just a couple, I'd be fine but it might be strange with 15 yo DS. I was hoping for more resort type accommodations and I'm just not finding anything for 50k points. Other places on my radar are San Diego and Denver. Can do any of them at the lower price points but nothing fancy.

I saw those translucent bath walls! It will be 4 females so no big issue for them. We stay at a Hyatt sometimes with translucent bath door and you can't see anything. Maybe the Moxy will be similar although the pic shows forms.

Edit: I texted her to ask her dates and she texted back, 'canceled'. I'm disappointed as I love it when we do whatsapp on some of her wilder trips. She's busy now so not sure why she canceled.

Edit: talked to her again and Westjet canceled the flights.

Love the Banff talk. If I do a repeat, good there is now a Marriott in Banff. I booked all my hotels through the Chase portal as there aren’t any major chains there to use hotel points or FNCs.

Since you mentioned Banff, maybe Glacier NP. There are Marriotts in Whitefish and Kalispell outside the park.

Where do you fly into?
I have found airfare to be ridiculously high, both points and cash. Denver is cheap from Chicago, my other 2 choices are more, but doable.

The best place to fly into for Glacier NP (the US side) is Kalispell. We went in 2017 and the fares to Kalispell were SO HIGH. We ended up flying into Spokane WA using SW points and drove. In hindsight, not sure that was the best use of "savings" since we had a 4-5 hour drive? We flew into Spokane late (and even later since there were storms in/out of DEN) and by the time we got into our hotel room (directly across from Spokane airport) it was 3am local, 6am our time -- we'd been up for 24 hours! Anyway -- we saved about $300 per ticket flying into Spokane (wasn't using points back then).

I said I'd never do that again if (hopefully *when*) we return to Glacier, but we also have much more flexibility on time/dates since we're mostly retired.

We flew Westjet from ORD.
Have never ever flown Westjet.
To Calgary. Easy drive from there!
3 hours doesn't seem great. Lol. Calgary to Banff seems easier.
I flew into Spokane on Southwest and drove to Glacier (4 hours). You can also fly to Kalispell, but as a smaller airport, it can be more expensive.
That sounds painful. DH and I don't really like driving on vacation. Most of the time, we don't even rent a car.

I think I transferred MRs to Delta. Was able to use the Platinum for Delta lounge in Terminal 5.
Spent the night in Calgary at Hyatt Place near the airport. Drove up the next morning to Fairmont Lake Louise. We splurged and would stay there again! We stayed at Fairmont Banff but that one I probably wouldn’t do again.

After how long do I give up on Chase app?
P2 applied during SW elevated SUB on 12/1- the automated answer on phone is it is still being considered and should hear back in 7-10 days. Ok to re-apply or apply for a 2nd SW biz card? Trying to get Comp Pass early in year. Thx!

Have you talked to anyone from the status line about the app? AFAIK applications are only live for 30 days, so it's probably too late for that elevated bonus. At least in the past they would drop off the status line after 30 days.

The 7-10 day message from the phone line means it's had an initial review and you're getting a letter in the mail - either a denial or a request for more information. If you didn't get anything in the mail, try checking in your Chase account under Statements and Documents > Notices & letters. You'd want to speak to a representative for applications with that status to see what you need to provide or try to get reconsideration for a denial.
(When it says "2 weeks" instead, that has meant that it's not been reviewed or not got to a decision point and it's hit or miss whether talking to anyone will help get to approved any faster.)

You can reapply now, or go biz, since it's been 30 days, but without knowing what happened with that application it's hard to guess whether the same problem may happen again. If it's still giving you a status through the phone line you may still get some info about it at least. Might help with the next round of apps.(if you can't salvage this one)

I keep reading about how airlines and hotels should have to disclose all of their fees upfront on their websites.

Well, my pet peeve is websites that don't disclose their shipping fees until after you have added items to the cart AND logged in.

There will be a big banner on the home page telling you that you get free shipping if you spend a certain amount, but they won't tell you what the shipping fee is if you don't spend the minimum amount.

Every website should have a link on the bottom of their page which explains what their shipping costs will be if you don't meet the minimum spend requirement for free shipping.

I will earn extra credit card miles if I purchase from some websites because they are part of the credit card portal, but I'm not going to automatically purchase from them until I have a clear cost comparison.

Okay, rant over.

(Hey, my New Year's resolution was to stop swearing, not to stop complaining.)

Happy New Years friends. I am up this morning using all of DH's Business Plat credits before I cancel in the card in 10 days. I do have to pay the AF as the bill due date is 1/05, but the fee posted 12/11.

Credit I'm using, please let me know if I'm forgetting anything
