Grammys

I was really enjoying the majority of the performances this year and the show was about to go off without a hitch until… THE SNUB

I immediately thought, “oh that was so rude” and sure enough a whole lot of people on the internet agree.

To those that didn’t watch, Taylor Swift acted like a brat and snatched the award out of Celine Dion’s hand without even making eye contact with her. Now the TS PR machine is in full swing mitigating the damage.
Some people look for ways to be outraged.

I was surprised that she didn’t acknowledge Celine at all onstage. It did seem rude.

I thought they could have had a better song as the opening of the show, I didn't care of the song or the performer. Then again, I'm older so I'm probably just out of touch.

I did like seeing how much fun Taylor Swift has a award shows. Like someone mentioned above, it's like she's at a concert.

I'm so tired of Beyonce and her goofy looking husband. Why did he have to bring up the fact that she hasn't won Album of the Year, she wasn't even nominated. Remember when Kanye West interrupted Taylor Swift's acceptance speech years ago b/c Beyonce didn't win and now her husband has to say something. They all need to get over it.

I'm not a Tracy Chapman fan and I don't really like that song but I did like the performance last night with her and Luke Combs, I thought it was very well done. I also liked Miley Cyrus's performance, and I liked Billie Eilish's performance of the Barbie song. I fell asleep before Billy Joel performed, I'm bummed that I missed it.

I watched the daytime Grammy’s on YouTube yesterday. You know, the awards that are not worthy for the night time show, like best rock or alternative. Lol.

They had some great gospel/country performances. And they give out the awards so quickly (there were a lot). It was really enjoyable. :)

Miley is super confident and gives off a skanky vibe, but I love her.
Very entertaining. :)

Watched some of the beginning and the host seemed like he hadn't prepared a monologue and just acted giddy about the various celebrities in the audience. Seems like it is also a chance for the women to compete for the slinkiest outfit award. Only saw a couple of the performances and then turned it off to watch some other show. In the past some performances were good but others tried too hard to be unique/bizarre so they get noticed.

I never bother about who said or didn't say something or how one celebrity looked/didn't look at someone else. Don't care and the short time the camera is on someone may not give the total context of the situation.

They are now so many different categories for the many genres of music, likely you have no idea who many of these people are. All award shows seem to follow the same format with the winners trying to say something funny or memorable when accepting their award.

Beyonce and Jay-Z have no problem with accepting what the Grammy's give them, repeatedly, and having the opportunity to repeatedly perform on "music's biggest night". I believe several years back pregnant Beyonce was given solo performance time of 15+ minutes to express her deified creative expression. Yet how many times have we seen statements about how they are regretfully unable due to time constraints to include all artists in the in memoriam segment or icons perfectly capable of getting out of their seats and walking up onto the stage instead be simply congratulated with an onstage announcement as recognition of their special award?

Nah, let's declare anonymous others unworthy of their nominations and awards -- while you stand onstage with a straight face and not so humbly brag about your child's Grammys? If that girl doesn't become the ultimate Nepo Baby target it's going to be a miracle. By all appearances she's a lovely girl who may have a passion to perform and great potential for her age. Sorry, I'm not accepting that her efforts as of yet have amounted to legitimately be nominated for or win a Grammy, let alone multiples. When mom and dad are prepared to be open and honest about that, then they can give all the interviews they want about how they have the legitimate right to be disgruntled. That is 2000-percent not the kid's fault -- yet I hold my breath at the likelihood of an eventual backlash on her.

I loved the raw emotion on Tracy Chapman's face at the start of the song -- genuine gratitude and appreciation for the ovation.

Like most shows, I DVR'd so I can skip the ads and whatever bores me (Jay-Z). I like hearing some of the music I am not familiar with, Burna Boy and Brandy were interesting. Billie Eilish and Finneas are so talented. I am old, so a Joni Mitchell and Tracy Chapman fan, also of some of the off camera winners like Boy Genius and Jason Isbell.

I was remembering the comments from 2010 when Taylor Swift sang with Stevie Nicks and people said she couldn't sing and her career was over. How things change! Apparently she wrote the song Mean about it.

“And I can see you years from now in a bar / Talking over a football game / With that same big loud opinion / But nobody’s listening / Washed up and ranting about the same old bitter things / Drunk and grumbling on about how I can’t sing / But all you are is mean / All you are is mean.”
