I know you aren't asking me. But I've looked at this for our possible 2025 dates. 6 nights for us at BRV (studio) would be 91 points. The same 6 nights in a standard view resort studio at VGF would be 105. (Poly standard would be the same.) The lake view studio at VGF bumps up to 129 a night. We would have to borrow points for that so we don't plan to do that. We would rather just pay the 75 points for SSR. (Or something like BCV or BWV but those are way less likely to be available than our other options.)
A BWV p/g studio may be available at the 7 month mark depending on when you decide you want to go. I like SSR but I have a hard time picking it over other resorts generally just because I know its so easily available that I’ll probably only do it for a last minute stay. Like if I have a choice between AKV and SSR it’s probably AKV 95% of the time. I have booked more nights at BW with my RIV points than I’ve booked at RIV, again partially because RIV is our home resort but I can’t deny that the point charts at BW are amazing and so is walking into Epcot although we like the rooms more at RIV.

The VGF point chart is so high! A week in standard view 1BR in summer at VGF is 301 points, the standard 1BR at SSR is 206 points. Yes, not quite the same, but if you need to be more miserly about points while still staying in a 1BR ... :D

The proximity to MK just can't be beat though. I'd rather spend more points to be walking distance to a park. But I am partial to VGF as it's one of my home resorts.

I completely get that. It would be very hard for me to spend an extra almost 100 points to stay at VGF, but that being said, that is why my points are the cheaper SSR points, b/c I wasn't willing to spend to get to VGF or the like in the first place. Maybe one day I'll change my mind :D

I do have the advantage of my kids being in year round school; so we can travel during the less busy times like May and September which are also cheaper points-wise.

I was replying to him, but definitely for your benefit to know the answer!! :)
VGF is much more expensive points so the only time I would think it would be worth it is if you had a bunch of extra points and knew you wouldn’t be able to use them (banking, etc) also didn’t want to hassle with renting them out.

What’s up with that other 5% !?!? lol
I’m thinking AKV is pretty much a 99.9% (maybe higher) winner in that situation. ;)

The walk from BW villas to Epcot seems really far. Is that not the case? I thought most people took the boat. But I'm probably wrong.

For me, AKV is almost at the very bottom of our list right now since we want to avoid studios with pull-out sofa beds.

Nice. I guess I need to pull up the map because in my head...I'm picturing it being super far. But my memory is really awful. Ha!

And I've never even visited Boardwalk before so I guess I can't picture it for real.

It's really not that far. We will take the boat if it happens to be at the dock, but we don't wait for it. Much faster to walk than wait.

It is extremely close to Epcot. The only resort thats closer is Beach Club and that’s maybe an extra minute or two of walking if that

We’ve done it in the heat of summer… and it’s only 10 mins but that can seem looong when you’re on the boardwalk desperate for shade!

You never know! If it’s an adult centric trip being walking to Disney Springs is a nice perk. The nice thing about staying at Congress Park is you can basically go from any resort back to your room by taking the bus to Disney Springs :p I actively avoid staying there when possible though. Not because I don’t like the resort but because I know sooner or later we’ll get stranded there on a last minute visit.

I’d say it’s about the same as esplanade to 7-11 on the corner of Harbor and Katella.
But I did take the boat every time, just because why walk if the boat is right there. lol

This comparison is so helpful! So to me...that does seem far. I'd probably just take the boat unless the weather is cooler. We stayed at the Anaheim hotel (back when it was the Anaheim Plaza) a couple times when it was insanely hot (like 115 degrees) and the walk from there to the gates was brutal! So I can't imagine going farther than that in Florida weather.

It’s half the distance of Disneyland Hotel to the center of the Esplanade.

I’d walk it to International Gateway, but take the boat to HS.

So that's a tough one as they are very similar in point cost.

Standard view AKV can be less than SSR, so we will do it for Kidani from time to time, especially for 2 bedrooms (with the extra bathroom). Believe it or not, we've stayed at AKV probably 5-7 times and have never stayed in Savannah View (yes, we are point misers). For instance, for us, the renovated SSR rooms are just as nice for the 2 of us as RIV or GF rooms, but are substantially less points. I would rather go for 7-8 days at SSR/AKV than say 4-5 days at RIV/GFV, but maybe that's just us.

We typically only stay at Kidani when at AKV, however, as the parking situation at Jambo is much worse than Kidani or SSR (though not as bad as BWV). All that said, I did pick up a night (at 4 months out, nonetheless) at an AKV Value Studio next month, so looking forward to checking that out.

For studios, we almost always pick SSR over AKV, and quite honestly, we pick SSR over many other resorts since the renovations. Since we always drive to WDW, it's never been an issue with transportation. Also, as I've said before, being at SSR makes having to be in the Gideon's Virtual Queue so much easier...

We have a GV at SSR this Summer and I am very much looking forward to that!

Interesting. I always look at where the farthest away room is because that's, inevitably, the one we end up in. 🤣 Looks like I might be either/or for walk vs. boat to Epcot. But definitely boat to HS. Of course...I'll probably still never be able to stay at any of these resorts so it's all just dreams anyway.

Maybe we’ll be neighbors :p I’m staying in a value and club level studio next month. I am yet to stay in a standard or savanna studio at AKV but have stayed club/value multiple times.

Never say never :) I’ve been able to snag Boardwalk somewhat regularly without owning there. The owners typically avoid using their points on anything but a standard or BW view just because the Pool/Garden view costs the same amount as BW view
