Disney's WILDERNESS LODGE Information & Questions

I sort of guess they are trying to provide some sort of QS replacement while Roaring Forks is down. That way, folks aren't limited to a TS location where they feel the need to tip

Not to mention the whole AP discount business. Did anyone ask about TiW? Quite a few Resort QS have been added this year for the extra 45th benefit stuff. I guess this one didn't get that?

Just booked a 2 night stay at CCV in a one bed before our Kidani stay in Dec. Super excited to try it out and have a little extended time just to hang out at the lodge. DS has been wanting to have longer than a few hrs to check it all out.

Thank you @Wood Nymph for taking the time again to post pictures and great info!

Can someone explain how Geyser Point works as a CS? I have read through and saw that there is a take out window of sorts. Is there somewhere indoors to eat? Not keen on eating lunch outside at the end of June. Thanks!

I'm wondering if someone who is going to be visiting WL or taking a tour of the CCV models would be willing to ask the following and report back on the answer ? I emailed Disney and their answer was not particularly helpful.

Normally, DVC resorts have a community laundry room with complimentary washers and dryers. This lets those staying in a studio do laundry, as well as anyone staying in a larger villa should they wish (though the 1+ bedrooms have their own washer and dryer). Thus, at WL there is a laundry room (complimentary, for guests staying in the WVL) in the VWL building, in addition to the self-serve paid laundry room near Roaring Forks.

So, will CCV have its own (complimentary) laundry room ? If yes, where will it be ? If no, where are those staying at CCV intended to do their laundry (aside from in-room washer and dryer) ? e.g. Use the existing one at VWL ? Using the one near Roaring Forks (but that one is paid...).

Thank you !

We came roasted marshmallows at the campfire.
What time do they do this? Is it posted somewhere, like an activity sheet in the rooms or at the front desk?

The menu at the QS is different than the bar menu.
Really? Ugh, so I guess I need to figure out where the food is at that we want to order. I looked up a menu but I guess I don't know if that was the CS window or the bar menu. It has been mentioned that someone waits on people at the pool. We might take advantage of that. Any idea if that's bar people or counter service? TIA!

I think the whole bar food versus counter service food and who waits on who and which one gets a discount is a little confusing.
Omg yes...totally agree and I'm not even there!

Great pictures. Did you happen to go buy during a movie?
We went down to see the fireworks tonight and the movie was playing. The sound from the movie was so loud that it was hard to hear the piped in Wishes music.

The counter service window is next to the bar area. You order your food at the window and you can sit at any of the tables nearby, including the tables near the bar, the tables near the old Trout Bar, or the tables near the lake. They give you a number and a CM will deliver the food to your table. They even bring cloth napkins and real silver. The counter service CM only handle the counter service food. There are separate cast members who work at the bar, taking food and drink orders.

All of Geyser Point is outdoors. They had the heating lamps on this morning. You would eat indoors at Roaring Forks once it is open or Territory Lounge.

We went to Geyser Point this morning for breakfast. We ordered our food at the counter service and then sat in the bar area. They delivered the food to our table. Later we went swimming and sat at the tables near the old Trout bar. A waiter from Geyser Point came by and took our drink order. He worked at the bar. When we were done swimming we took our drinks over to Geyser Point and sat by the bar. We ordered a bar appetizer, edamame, from the bar menu. The CM that worked at the bar took that order and delivered it.

What time do they do this? Is it posted somewhere, like an activity sheet in the rooms or at the front desk?
We received a copy of the activity sheet from Disney Destinations via email about a week before our trip date. The also had the schedules out at check in. The campfire was at 6pm, but they don't hold it every night. I think it is four nights a week.

It has been mentioned that someone waits on people at the pool. We might take advantage of that. Any idea if that's bar people or counter service?
The bar people wait on you at the pool, but you can order counter service food from them and they will bring it to you. It looks like the bar staff can take orders and deliver both bar food and counter service food, but the counter service CM's only handle counter service food. It isn't that confusing when you are there, since all you have to do is ask any CM to help you. They are very helpful and friendly. The WL ahs always had the nicest CM's. :)

We can see a lot of studios and studios with furniture, especially the master beds and artwork in the villas. You can also see some kitchens. My husband figured out wy they had scaffolding that went up to the dormer balcony. They are running a paint sprayer to paint the rooms and the compressor is sitting outside on the ground. The hose runs up the side of the scaffolding to the top floor.

We are staying 5/24- 5/28 . First time ever staying on property! my then almost 2 year olds first trip and my 11 year olds 2nd one!

2 questions! Anyone know if the pardon our dust collector pins are still available there?
annnnd if you want to go to MK at open(if open is 9am), whats a good recommended time to be out there for the boat?

I was there earlier this month and the pins were still there.

I'm stopping back here to thank those who advised me about requesting a room with theme park view. Although there were a couple of trees in my line of sight, depending on where I stood I could see the castle, astro orbiter, and Space Mountain from my room! They said after construction they will be bringing back more tall trees to block this view, to give the sense of being in the wilderness. Bummer, as I loved the view and would rather they would keep it. But I'm glad I got to experience this during the time it was possible.

The pins are still in the rooms. I asked about the main elevators and they plan for them to be open in July. My guess is that the pins might not be available after that. But you should have pins in May. There is still a lot of work to do..

Thank you for taking time out of your vacation to answer my questions @Wood Nymph. That was incredibly helpful!

Yes, it's so helpful to us as home who will be staying there soon. Thanks again for taking time out if your trip, we all really appreciate your updates!

Quick question, were you able to get Mickey Waffkes for breakfast at the geyser point (or is that the counter service)

I'm asking because this will be our first trip with no dining plan and also I'm trying to get to the parks earlier. My kids only want Mickey Waffkes for breakfast when we are at Disney. My hope was to get Mickey Waffles and bring them to our room for a quick breakfast (as opposed to the character breakfasts we do) .

I had gotten touch with someone from the front desk at WL Friday night (it took a few calls and asking - are you at a call center or at the front desk) the msn at the front desk I spoke to had a July 17th end date for the construction. But he had no date for roaring forks to open, just "summer."

So I'm hoping I'll still be able to get quick service type meals - like Mickey waffles and flatbread pizza while we are there in August if Roaribg Forks is still not open yet . :D

I will be staying CL in June for 5 nights. First time CL at WL! The most important request that I have is that we get a bunk-bed room, so I think I might make that my only request. Honestly, I can't decide which view I would rather have anyway (courtyard or MK View). For those of you who have stayed CL recently - which do you prefer? Also - can you see the Electric Water Pageant from all of the Courtyard View CL rooms?

I was there in January and some of those pins were left in my room.

I got on the 6:45 am boat to the Contemporary and walked to the MK for 8am Be Our Guests both days with *tons* of time to spare, if that helps.

(By "tons," I mean I went through security and hung out at least 10-15 minutes for the gates to open.)

Geyser Point did not have Mickey waffles when I was there in early March, but some of my meals outside of WL had them.

I've stayed at WL with MK view and courtyard view (neither was CL in my case). I'd definitely go for the MK view, because apparently that is only available during construction. You can always get courtyard view on some future visit. And anyway, would you rather look at a view of the MK, or of a swimming pool.

Our trip isn't until December, but I understand from others who have visited recently that Mickey Waffles are not an option at Geyser Pointe, unless they have very recently added them.

My understanding of the reporting about the Roaring Forks refurb is that although the details of what they are doing is not known, it is not expected to be a really long refurb, more on the order of a few months. So by August it would probably be open again.

For QS options, also consider that there is the boat launch to Contemporary and Fort Wilderness. Fort Wilderness is also walkable. Both have QS options.

From Contemporary it is easy to hop on the monorail to Poly or GF, which also have QS. Gasparella Island Grill has Mickey Waffles for breakfast and pizzas (not sure if they are still flatbread since their refurb). Contempo Cafe has mini Mickey-shaped waffles and flatbreads (fancier than roaring forks'). Captain Cook's has Mickey Waffles and flatbreads. FW's P&J's Southern Takeout has Mickey waffles.
