Canadian ticket voucher redemption-ID question

Has anyone recently redeemed their Canadian ticket voucher at Disneyland? I know I'll need to go to the turnstiles to do so but I'm wondering what the experiences have been regarding ID. Are they firm on wanting passports or have people been able to use their driver's licence? In the past I've always bought my tickets through Ares travel and only ever needed a DL and credit card. I'd rather keep our passports in the hotel safe if I can! Thanks in advance!

I did not have to show my passport. I used Air Miles tickets (the Canadian discount ones) and went in March/2017. I was prepared however and had made photocopies of our passports and emailed them to myself...but I never needed them.

Interesting. Sounds like it depends on which CM you get at the turnstiles. Thanks!

Our arrival day at DL is a no park day. I'll be there a week, but longest ticket is 5 days :guilty: so I plan on using that day to get settled in room, go to guest relations to get my real ticket, then I can go back to hotel and put away passport. I don't want to waste time our first park day to be dealing with guest relations and carrying around passport.
I'd feel better if DL sent a voucher but all I have is a print out from my computer.

We're there for 6 days and I was thinking of doing the same thing but my email from Disney says to go to the turnstiles to get my actual tickets, not the ticket booth like I've done previous trips. I wonder if it matters? I'm still considering making our arrival day a park day since we'll still have 8 hours of park time when we get there so I'd have to pack around my passports for that time but I don't want to waste the time going back to the room when we could be in the parks!! I guess I'll just have to be extra careful with my park bag that day.
Are your etickets showing up in your app already? Mine have a barcode to scan right in my app so I'm not printing the email, just saving it on my phone to show them if needed for extra proof.

Went in April and had to show the original passports to get the tickets. I was asked to show them on a couple of other occasions, and just showed pictures of them off my phone. I was told both times that they needed to see the original passport, but that they would let it slide.

So they expected you to pack your passport around even after you were issued your paper tickets?

Yes - twice (by the same CM) at the monorail entrance in DTD, I got a lecture about how the terms of the ticket required me to show my passport when my "oh you have one of those Canadian tickets" was scanned.

Rather than get into an argument with him about how idiotic that was - since my passport was obviously checked when I first did the ticket exchange, I said "here's pictures of our passports on my phone, I'll remember to bring the originals with me next time".

That's ridiculous!! You should only have to show the passport once and not be forced to carry them around with you the whole trip! After you receive the paper ticket it shouldn't matter. >:( Thanks so much for the heads up, I'll be sure to take pictures of them and perhaps even have photocopies of them to have on hand.

Yes, I think my tickets do show up, but I printed anyway. Never did this so wasn't sure what I'll need.
I must have missed the part about turnstiles. Just assumed you'd have to go to Guest Relations to get ticket like WDW. Do we get paper tickets?

That IS ridiculous!! Once should be enough. I'll be sure to take passport photo too!

Yes we'll get paper tickets when we get there and they scan our eticket bar code. In the past I've purchased my tickets through Ares travel and you get a voucher that had to be exchanged for the paper tickets at the ticket booth so this turnstile business is new to me too! I guess we just take everything we have and hope they let us in!! :D

I'll be sure to ask when we initially show our passport to see what the CM says about needing it every day but it just seems excessive to need it after the first day. Again, I guess it will all depend on the CM. I really don't want to have to pack it around all week.

Can you tell me how it works? Do you go to Guest Relations to get a paper ticket first? Then use paper ticket to go thru turnstiles? Great idea about having passport photo on phone! We should prob do that anyway in case of loss.
I think that CM must have been misinformed!! Totally ridiculous to expect people to walk around the parks with passport.
One trip my daughter lost her bag on Space Mtn in WDW. Flew out of car. :scared: We were leaving the next morning. They said they couldn't retrieve bag until late evening when park closed. And there was no way to get bag to her that night. If her passport was in it, we would have been in a lot of trouble. As it was her cell phone, wallet and glasses were in bag. WDW sent it to us at home.

I don't even think the Brits have to show passport at WDW to use their tickets, they are able to get 2 week WDW tix.

Be sure to post what you find out!! :listen: This is all new to me. Haven't been to DL in 33 yrs!!
I'd be too afraid of loosing passport. My daughter already had an experience of purse flying off a ride once.

33 years, wow!! It was 13 years between my first and second visit and I couldn't believe the changes even then! You're going to love DCA!!

Really excited! Going in Sept. I'm lucky that I have an LA friend to show me around!

I just looked on the DL app and they weren't there anymore. But there was an option for bar scan so I scanned my ticket print outs and they are now on App again! But I noticed an Aug exp date so I just phoned DL because on my printed tix the exp isn't until Jan 2018! CM said it's a known issue that they are working on. She put me on a brief hold to speak with manager to confirm.

Other issues we were wondering about: we do have to go to turnstile to activate ticket and be issued a hard ticket. Must show passports. Can't do the day before. It's a different system then WDW.

@Maddysdaddy i asked about the issue of showing passports after getting ticket. CM said that shouldn't happen. Once you show your passport to get the ticket that's it. Only have to show it once. Since I had to call anyway I may as well cover all issues!!
