Courtyard theme park entrance vs Homewood Suites convention center

I'm wondering about preferences for families with small kids between the two hotels. They are both popular hotels and have good reviews. I haven't seen a compare and contrast of the two hotels. Courtyard theme park entrance is obviously closer, has bunk beds which are my kid is dying for, and the awesome water park. Homewood suites near the convention center is ridiculously cheap for a 7 night stay, free breakfast and dinner. Disadvantages the distance, no bunk beds for the standard 2 queen, no water slides. My kids will be 3 and 6 and may use a part time stroller. Is the toy story shuttle easy and does it run early enough for magic mornings?

Homewood Suites does have a bunk bed room if that is important. We've never stayed at the Courtyard so I can't compare. I can't justify the price when Homewood Suites is so much cheaper whenever we've looked. We rode the Toy Story shuttle so the actual walking distance is less than Courtyard. I didn't mind the shuttle. The parking lot opens one hour before regular opening, so we took a taxi on our MM. It was worth the $11. ($9 fare plus tip.) Just a warning about Homewood Suites: if you try to cut down your reservation to 6 days, your rate will most likely jump a lot higher.

We stayed at the Courtyard last month, can't beat the location. My kids are older, but loved the waterpark area. We loved just being able to walk back to the hotel mid day to swim, etc. I would hands down choose the Courtyard over having to take the shuttle to be honest.

We love the Homewood Suites! We stayed in the family suite last year and will be again this year (bunk beds with trundle)
The free breakfast really adds to the value as well..we've never been at the hotel to partake in the dinner time offerings.

Thanks to everyone for your responses. The hotel that meets our wish list is courtyard but Homewood suites is so darn cheap. Also, DH doesn't want to deal with a shuttle and a double stroller. I did find that changing my homewood reservation days increases to the $200s/night. There will be an event at the convention center too. I keep going back and forth between the two.

courtyard is amazing ! the last time i went my kids were 1,4,7,5 and they had so much fun at the pool. Easy to go back and forth when needed.

How did you take the taxi with car seat? Do they have taxis with car seats/boosters? Because that'd be awesome.

We didn't have a car seat. You could call Yellow Taxi (Yellow Cab?) and ask if they have those if you don't have your own, but I kind-of doubt it.

Thanks again to everyone who replied. I discovered that Between using Miles and a companion pass, We are saving a ton on airfare and can afford to stay at courtyard!! And able to add the Minnie and friends BF! I'd like to try HW some though, ideally when the kiddos are past the car seat and stroller phase. I'm sure everything will be crazy expensive and crowded by then with SW land and the bridge on harbor. Btw, When is Disney going to get a clue and add a Star Wars and/or super hero character meal???

Excellent!! We used a companion pass and miles also! AND our 6 night stay at the Courtyard was free with points!

I just booked 5 nights with points but need to pay for a 6th night. I am new to Marriott rewards, do you know if I get points for the night I pay for?
I chose to use points for the courtyard since it would be out of our budget otherwise! It looks so nice :)
Sorry, for hijacking the thread!

Just want to add although the op made their decision.

It's a quick walk to the park from HomeWood. No need for taxis/Uber. The shuttle takes just as long. We tend to use it on our way home as our feet are tired by then. But we're never as tired with kids as without. We don't get very far with a large crew!

HomeWood has bunks. beds for 5 plus the pull out couch.

Also, for the free dinners its hit or miss for us as well. We have some food sensitivities so is hard to work around them. Plus, we are often too busy at the parks to come back.

Yes, you will get "nights" for the entire stay and you should receive points for that one paid night as long as you book direct with Marriott which I am sure you did on a points reservation. They do not give you points if you book through a third party reservation service.
