I was going to request a dedicated room for Poly but apparently it looks like all the rooms on the DVC side are dedicated, based on what I see online. Is that true? Cause then I won't bother lol

Every DVC room at the Polynesian is a Studio. There are no lock-off vs dedicated units, as there are no 1- or 2-bedrooms of any kind (other than the Bungalows).

All DVC Poly villas in the longhouses are studios - however, all but two or three of them connect to the studio next to them, so in that sense they are not dedicated.

Thoughts on building to request…

Is it hard to get a ground floor std view studio in Tokelau? I was planning to request Tokelau to be closer to the pool, but we are hoping for ground floor. Or is Pago Pago a better option to be closer to monorail and parking? It’s a mostly no-parks trip, maybe hopping the monorail to Epcot for dinner once but other than that we are doing some pool time and other non-parks stuff.

It’s our first DVC stay at Poly, and our last stay there at all was pre-DVC conversion, so we’re at a loss as to the advantages and disadvantages of each building.

Editing to add that our priority is location and convenience over view. (LOL, that’s why we own at BCV)

Just prioritize Ground Floor...none of the buildings feel so spread out that you're miles from anything.

Looking for advice and I know this is a Poly lovers thread.. My husband and I are really considering DVC (we loved the BWV) but think Poly may be the best place for us to buy because of the longer contract.
I was hoping to rent someone's points for next spring break but we have not been able to secure a reservation through David's. The rack rate for one night in a deluxe standard studio is $864 a night which is just painful. I think we'd have to reduce our stay to 3 nights vs 5 at this price. My budget for this trip is about 4500 (hotel and park tickets)

Do you think you'd get a good enough "Feel" for the resort to know if its for us after 3 nights. We'd do one pool day and two park days.

We've been to the poly for ohana and the grounds for a day and loved it, but obviously didnt go in a room or use the pool. Just wondering if sucking it up and paying rack rate for the three days is even worth it in people's opinion.

You can secure a Cash reservation with $200 ( with cancellation) and wait to see if you’re able to secure a dvc reservation. I booked spring break for us this week as it’s just become available for our week. You have plenty of time to wait and see imo. I booked the poly spring break for 2024 at the 7 month window. Next year might be different but no one knows yet.

I think 3 days will definitely give you a good feel of the place and probably leave you wanting more which is a good thing if you’re wanting to join DVC lol But I’d say don’t lose hope about getting your waitlist filled through David’s or any other rental company, there’s often Poly availability at 7mos (when all other resorts can start booking there), especially during high-point Spring break season, opening up your chances of having someone fulfill your trip.

I’d recommend booking the 3 nights through Disney and keep your waitlist with David’s and so hopefully if it comes through in the next few months, you can easily cancel the 3 nights with Disney and put that money towards your rental.

Got our stay here coming up in a couple of weeks and DW has been looking at recent trip info on the FB. She noticed that at least some of the rooms have a fridge with a small freezer compartment now. I looked up some recent YT videos of room tours and it seems like some but not all do.

Is there any good info on the rooms that do have this fridge with small freezer? She is now thinking it would be good to have one to get some frozen breakfast things while there (like eggo waffles or the eggo french toast stick toaster things).

Even if it's just a refrigerator and no freezer, you can still keep waffles and french toast sticks in it. Just don't heat them for as long. They will be fine.

Yes, once they declare rooms into the condo association to be sold, those rooms can only be booked with points. They are only going to be booking for cash the rooms they won't be declaring into the condo association. I think they'll still do incremental declarations instead of all at once like BPK at VGF.

In the most recent issue of the DVC member magazine, the DVC VP stated it would be part of the current PVB, making it official.

I believe that's a done deal since the tower is named Island Tower at Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows. The use of the official name of the condo association is pretty clear. IMO, we will have home resort priority to book rooms in the tower.
