Anyone Remember the Cruise Line Preview Center?

Maybe it's because we are leaving for WDW tomorrow, so I'm having thoughts of the parks melded together with the cruise line. But for some reason, I am having flashbacks to the preview center that was in MK in that Kodak building, right at the front of the park. Anyone else remember that? It had to be in 1997, and I think they were previewing at Animal Kingdom too. Hubby and I stopped in, and they showed a movie that featured Sorcerer Mickey and a head in a crystal ball (her name, of course, was Crystal). She was telling Mickey all of the exciting things that were coming up, and of course one was the cruise line. I remember telling hubby, "We should try that," and he had no interest whatsoever. I sure wish I would time travel and tell 1997-Barb-and-Tony that in 5 years they'd be veterans of over two dozen Disney cruises! I know they'd never believe me :D :D

I don't remember the Preview Center, but if I travelled back five years and was told I would be a veteran of four Disney cruises, I would have laughed. I had no interest whatsoever in cruising at that time (until my husband actually won a Disney Magic cruise from a radio station in 1998). I imagined ships as floating casinos, which some are, but I had no idea how much fun cruising would be. I'm hooked.

i remember that - it was during the 25 years of magic celebration of the magic kingdom. you went in and told them your first year of visit to the MK and they gave you a button with that year on it. It was 1996, cos I was 25 that year as well. (good things happened in 1971!)

they showed the movie about AK and the cruise line and I even bought a sweatshirt with the cruise line logo on it i was so ready to go..

ah - the memories.

No, but I do remember calling for prices for the first saling of the Magic in 1998 and not going because I though the price was too much. Went on yearly WDW vacation in 98 and 99 and keep looking at the pictures in the busses and wondering how it would be. After returning in 99 we booked the 4 day Wonder 8/2000, how great it was, now we are hooked. 2001 7 day Eastern, 2002 7 day Western, and 2003 7 day Eastern. So I guess it just goes to prove that DCL is worth the money.

I definitately remember the preview center. At the time it was the only place to buy DCL merchandise. I bought a few DCL license plates and three T-shirts that I wrapped up and gave my kids for Christmas as a way to surprise them that we were going on the Maiden Voyage of the Disney Magic. That's when it was supposed sail in March of '98. Even though it was pushed back twice, the discounts they gave made it all worth while for the Maiden Voyage in July of '98.

We booked blind (two years out and no idea what the itinerary was) for the Maiden Voyage and they picked people via a lottery system because they had so many people wanting to go on it. We were lucky enough to be picked!!!!

I was in that building in 1996 (when DS was 4) but I dont remember anything showing about the cruise. Most likely didnt pay attention and thought it was beyond my reach! Little did I know 5yrs later I would buy into Disney Vacation Club!

That does bring back memories. I remember I had already booked our cruise for December '98 and was so excited to be able to get sweatshirts with the disney logo on them (they were white with navy and red trim) and DH a cruise hat. When you went in and told them the first year you went to Disney you got a button with that year on it. I still have mine. I also remember the Disney catalog that had all the cruise merchandise in it. I wish they still had that! I'll get to shop in 161 days on our second cruise!
