We are thinking of doing Atlantis on our own at Nassau. What are must-sees? How much would we have to pay to use the water slides and pools? Can we look around without paying anything? Is that the same as Paradise Island?

What should we do at Freeport?

Atlantis is on Paradise Island, which is adjacent to New Providence Island (the main island of Nassau). Paradise Island is connected to New Providence Island by a toll bridge.

Unfortunately, the only way to get to use the pools and water slides is to book a room at the Atlantis Resort or the Comfort Suites on Paradise Island. As far as "looking around", there is an option which costs $25/pp or so that gives you admission to their extensive aquariums.

Anyone know how much is a room at the Comfort Suites? We may just end up walking around on Paradise Island and taking in the sites.

We just did this on the Nov. 10th Wonder cruise. We booked a room at Comfort Suites for 199.00 tax included, we did not even take the room key(which was very good since the hotel looked and smelled not so good). We walked over to the Atlantis. It was myself, husband, and 3 1/2 year old.
We felt like Atlantis is so big that to try and do it in a day is just ridiculous. By the time we walked through the aquarium part and found a kiddie pool we were ready to go back to the ship. Of course I still had to loose money in the casino while hubby and baby went in the ocean.
It is a very nice property but very huge. We would not get back off the ship at Nassau but it is a tough call. Be prepared to walk and not have much relaxation time. Good luck and whatever you do it will be a great time.

Now you've asked it - don't miss at least visiting Atlantis! I have a prewritten note I made up to cover this whenever it pops up. It's not for everyone, if you want to do the waterpark you'll need more than I'm recommending. However, it's a nice waterpark, but not the real highlight of the resort for a day tip. Here's my info:

Paste:

Ok, you've said the magic word! Atlantis is the real highlight of Nassau.

Ok, you *can* do the excursion, but, it can get rushed. It is a gorgeous resort, you have four options:

1) The Disney excursion.

2) Get a room at the resort, and use all the amentities, 2 options: reserve a room, or try to get over and get a 'day room' limited in availability, first come, first served, and a good bit cheaper.

3) Get a room at Comfort suites, which is considerably cheaper, and allows up to 4 per room full access to everything at Atlantis.

4)(my preference) If you really don't want to use the water amenities, which amounts to a few fancy slides, a nice beach, and a lazy river, You can very easily do it yourself. To do so, just follow these steps:
  • Leave the ship and go to the end of the dock.
  • Take one of the numerous taxis for (right now, price partially depends on a bridge toll) $5 per person to Atlantis, much more pleasant than the overcrowded water taxi.
  • Walk to the center of the casino upon arrival, to the kiosk with the blue globe(Temple of the Moon).
  • Buy a wristband for $25 each for access to all the resort except the water recreation(you can still walk out to the beach, just not on it).
  • Walk the Dig at your own pace. It's long, at least a mile or more, but it is exceptional. And you basically walk about 2/3 of the property in doing so, they give you a map. You can go where you wish, at your own pace.
  • Whenever you're done, just go back to where you were dropped off for another taxi ride back to the ship.
We did this and still got back in time for a late lunch shipboard. But you can indulge yourself of the restaurants at Atlantis, but they are a bit pricey. Any questions? Feel free to ask!
