Canadian Buffoon's DISmeet vacation - 09/14 - Bowled Over

Neither.
Well... I will be writing another
chapter eventually.
Busy time right now.

I meant I had another TR
that I had to comment on
before I could comment on yours.

That one's done. Yours is next.

Hooray, a Pkondz update is like Christmas gifts!

You must've won.

And when I say "you",
I mean "we".

Where's my cut?

Uh...it's in the mail.

I would easily go back and
just have the cheese course.
(and the chocolate.)

We've done that before. It's an excellent decision.

4 hours?
a.) My races are usually capped
at about two hours.
b.) then again... there's the
24 hours of LeMans. :rolleyes1

:faint:

NASCAR... no comment.
I find it boring.
I like watching the skill
that the drivers show me
when setting someone up
and then executing a pass.

And... it depends on the race.
I've seen races where there's
been 3-4 lead changes...
on a single lap!
And they do that for dozens
of laps.
Fun to watch!
But! I totally get that
it's not for everyone.

That's how I am with golf. I love it. But I totally get why other people don't want to watch it.

You should go too.
Those races are completely
different when seen live.
(Like most sporting events.)

I was wondering, is it tough to watch if you can only see a little piece of the race course? Like, you can see one turn, so the cars whiz by you there, and then they disappear for a few minutes while you stare at an empty road?

Unhappy wife, holy crap are you in trouble.

Also: Unhappy wife, and no matter what happened and who was involved, it's your fault.

Deceptive, I know! The A in "Day" is actually /e/. And if that wasn't enough to mess with your mind, you might be wondering, "Well, gee, Meghan, what is the E sound then??" It's /i/. Don't get me started on what the I is...

You're...you're...like me... :scared1:
Okay, finally made it over here and wasn't going to reply, just try to catch up, then this caught my attention.

Sounds like it might be patterned after or similar to Spanish vowels...
a,e,i,o,u in Spanish are ah, ay, e, o, ooh.

so e make an a sound and i makes an e sound. Is i eye? ;) :magnify:

I saw Marvin in the antenna! That is a lot of driving in one day. I don't envy you, when I went to visit my family in Edmonton a few years back there was a major snowstorms and accidents and my typically 11 hour drive took 22 hours and that was one of the worst days of my live.
I had something similar...
When I was stationed at the Pentagon, we had been visiting family in FL. On the way home, the blizzard of '96 that slammed the Eastern US hit. What should have been 13 hour drive turned into 26 (might have been 28) hour drive. I can't remember exactly. Seems like we left at 8am and didn't get in until around noon the next day, so that would be 28, but I don't remember the exact times. I know it was well over a full day. After we got back to VA, I was told I'd get a ticket for the snow chains. I said, okay, I don't like breaking the law, but I'll take that ticket over the greater chance of an accident.

My haul for the day:

After eight Harley stops,
I am done for the day.
If you make it to the Atlanta area, give me a holler. We can hit 8 different dealers in the Atlanta area in maybe 3 - 4 hours and many fewer miles.
I can also take you to a couple places for amazing food. No, NOT the varsity...I said amazing food...unless you really are constipated, then we'll visit the varsity to help you (or would that be it) out.

Oh, Atlanta is anything except flat, so any runaway dogs will be no longer visible before you stop hearing them.

A rather dark Monday morning.
2:15am to be precise.
Eaaarrrrly.
But I have a flight to....

No. Wait. I don't.
But I do have a bit of driving
ahead of me.
Hence the early departure.

I was dressed, packed,
locked and loaded
and out of the house by 3:30am.

Look. You try to get moving
faster than that when you're
constantly distracted by a
nice warm bed calling out to you.

I hit the road and then got
in the car and drove on it.
Only people on the road at that
time were fools and idiots.

I'll let you guess which one I was.
No bonus points for saying "both".
I already know too many of you will.
Based on this...

I'm going with idiot.

:lmao: :rotfl2:

Here's my secret.
I like driving.
I like seeing the country.
I like the quiet.
I like the solitude.
I like the time to think.
I like the time to dream.

And that's okay. Not a contest! :goodvibes

I call foul or BS. You like seeing little dogs fleeing the border for hours.

Just the worst feeling, I was in a small little honda civic with crappy lights and I remember everytime a tractor trailer passed it was horrible. i went though 9 jugs of washer fluid. First road trip with my girlfriend and she was white knuckle until we were driving on dry ground.

Uh...it's in the mail.

Yuss!!!!

Funny thing about racing
(and maybe it's the same for all sports?),
you get more info when you watch it on TV.
Every race I've been to, there are jumbo screens
located all over and when something happens
(say a crash or a pass for the lead)
that's not in front of you, you can still see it.

I've also (at the Indianapolis 500) donned headsets
that allow you to tune into the race broadcast,
and also tune in to the drivers' radios.

Funniest comment I heard was from Michael Andretti
(son of Mario Andretti):
"That <expletive starts with "F">-ing guy cut me off!!!"
"We saw that Michael. Remember you're broadcasting live."

Also: Unhappy wife, and no matter what happened and who was involved, it's your fault.

::yes::

Hmm... interesting. I speak French and the sounds are the same.
So, @MeghanEmily ?

Nah, I wouldn't drag someone
to a bunch of Harley shops.

But look you up? ::yes::

I can also take you to a couple places for amazing food.

Changing me ::yes::
to definitely ::yes::

I don't remember Atlanta as being
too hilly.
I do remember some... but...
It's been a while.

Especially considering it's frequently
25 below here....

I always smile when people
tell me they have an IQ of ____.

Only people with a high IQ
are going to tell you.
And people who feel they have
to tell me they're smart... aren't.

If you're smart, it will be self-evident.

And I've heard those tests
are fundamentally flawed, anyway.

I call foul or BS. You like seeing little dogs fleeing the border for hours.
Okay, listen.
There's not much to do up here, ya know.

So every once in a while,
we let a dog loose.

It helps pass the time.

"Only"

snort...

In Winter it goes down to the 50s!

You don't have to see.
You were there!

Yeah but it was 2 months ago now...I forget.

I'm going to have to try it.
The ones at the butcher
come pre-seasoned.
(Although they can also
cut me one without.)

Care to share your recipe?

I usually just let the meat speak for itself. About an hour beforehand I season it liberally with salt pepper and garlic powder. Then I put it on the flames of the grill uncovered for 5 minutes on each side. I always get the "untrimmed" cut, 1) cause it's usually $1 per pound cheaper and 2) fat is flavor. When the side with the fat on it is facing the flame you really want to watch it, as it may flare up and catch fire.
After each of the side have been seared, I move the meat to the upper rack on the grill, on the opposite side where the flames are burning. Turn down the heat and close the lid. I cook it for 15 minutes or when an instant read thermometer registers 120°F.
I remove it from the grill and place it in one large sheet of aluminum foil and cover it completely. Usually you need the super wide foil to do this. Let it rest for at least 5 minutes before cutting, but you can even go 15 or 20 minutes and it will still be hot.

Slice it across the grain like this:

And I can say it correctly too. ;)

I'm sure you can. I could even hear you saying it.
