Can't they tell where the seat is for a Hoop-de-doo PS?

I made a Hoop-de-doo Review PS for our trip in July. Any of the days we are there would be fine. I think the CM was not an"old hand". He said he could not tell which day and time would give us the best seating. I was hoping to get main floor. We sat in the balcony the only other time we went, nearly 12 years ago, before kids. I was hoping to get my kids on the main floor. Can't they tell which seating is the least crowded?

I'm not sure if they can...but I know it is according to when you book. Never done the Hddr....but we've booked around 200 days out for the luau and was alway very close the the stage.

I don't think they do the seating plan until closer to your show date. I do know that where you sit has nothing to do with when you book, though. I booked only about 3 weeks in advance one time for the 7 pm show (HDDR), and dh and I were seated smack dab in the middle of the front row right by the stage. It was awesome! :D I also booked the luau about 4 weeks out, and we were very close to the stage.

I was told by the CM that where you book definitely does affect where you are seated. We aren't doing the HDD on this trip in July because we are doing HRH too and our trip is too broken up. However, I made reservations for our July 2005 last September (almost 2 years in advance) and the CM told me that we would definitely be up front. I hope they haven't changed this because that's the reason I made the reservations so early.

It does matter when you book. You were probably lucky to have gotten a cancellation seat!

The reservations are "booked" by Dining and the seating is assigned by "Hoop Dee Doo" when the date gets closer. When you book the reservation it does not automatically assign you a seat...it just books the reservation and is downloaded to the Hoop office. They do assign seats based on booking date so the earlier you book the better the seats. Unless you get lucky (which we have as well) and they get a cancelation after the seats have already been assigned. They won't move everyone around, they will find a party that fits the table size and move them... (also the dining system does not tell you how many reservations are booked for that night... so in asking which is less crowded they can't tell that, all they can see is that there is avalaiblity)

Well then I must be lucky as some of you would say, I prefer other choice of words, because in 2001 my Dreams agent booked Hoop for me only 3 months before we wanted to be there and we were seated at the "HONEYMOONER'S TABLE #13" front and centerstage!! :sunny:

It seems to also depend upon your party size. Every time we have been there the tables seem to be set up the same. So between party size and late cancelations you could possibly get a front row seat even if you book closer to the show.

I was told by CM that it was dependent on how early you arrived for the show, that's how you get the closer seats!? Go figure!

I asked a CM at HDDR last week and she said it was totally based on when you book. You can get lucky and have a closer seat if there is a cancellation.

We were in the balcony and had a wonderful time. They do a great job of including everyone.

We went last May, and I was determined to get "floor" seating 'cause I thought that would be great for my then 7 1/2 y/o DS. We'd had "balcony" seating on 2 prior trips (one before and one with DS). Our ressies were probably made 30 days in advance. I had DH plead with them on check-in, and they gave us "floor" seating! Yea! Well, actually, "floor" seating wasn't as great as we expected. There was too much activity (servers and guests moving around, blocking the view, making noises, scooting chairs, etc.), the view of the show wasn't that much better, and there was about the same amout of interaction with the performers. I think it was the general level of distraction on the "floor" that made for a less pleasant, less relaxed meal. DS was the first one to say that "next time he wanted to be in the balcony!"

That's just our experience, though.
