Convention Update and I need your help!

Hi Everyone !

First I want to thank you for all being so patient regarding the confirmations. The final contracts are in but Pete is off busily reviewing every inch of the new Animal Kingdom Lodge and will handle the confirmations as soon as he is done with that task.

I want to update you on the events. All the ‘BIG’ events such as the Illuminations Dessert Party, Fantasmic Party (still up in the air if I should do desserts or hors d'oeuvres because this takes place earlier in the evening), Tower of Terror, Character Breakfast , Opening Reception and closing breakfast are blocked and with the exception of the final menus ready to go.

Also starting May 1st we will release a monthly Newsletter to all attendees on convention events and itinerary Updates, this may go to biweekly as we get closer to the convention dates. The first newsletter will feature locations and details about some of the “BIG” events, and Marsha will update us on some of the DIS ‘mini-meets’ that are to be held. If you have any email address changes make sure you contact me at linda@dreamsunlimitedtravel.com so you will get the newsletter.

One more thing, please vote on which you prefer for the Fantasmic Party, Desserts or hors d’oeuvres? This should take place around 7pm.

I voted for pupus (appetizers in Hawaiian ) because I'm not a big 'sweets' fan...but it doesn't really matter to me either...I'll just be happy to be with other DIS'ers watching Fantasmic...the food is just the icing on the cake. Yes, pun intended.

I like all of those things, but not very much and would give them up in a heartbeat for "real" food.

I know desserts will win too, but heck! she asked.

Oh please I want hors d'oeuvres. I know I am selfish but I am unable to have anything sweet. If we have desserts will there be something no sugar? Can we have mixture of both? If you have desserts I will have to expend massive amounts of willpower and I am not sure where I will find it. Does anyone have any willpower to lend me?

I would go for desserts if they are ones kids would like ( plain chocolate cake with chocolate icing, brownies without nuts, CC cookies without nuts). If they are fancy stuff, i would vote for Pupus too. Just because my DH will eat anything. I would just eat the non-sweets, and DD would only eat plain kid stuff.

WHere will these events be taken place?

Character Breakfast, Opening Reception and closing breakfast

As my thread on Transportation issues is wondering how to get to the convention events, I was also wondering if the location of these events have been determined. Trying to figure out if a car rental is in order.

Someone mentioned a special convention bus with lime green streamers off the back and a DIS CON logo in neon lights. It has also been rumored that Dan Murphy would be the driver and Teri doing security (checking for DIS CON lanyards and such).

I voted on appetizers, as you already have a dessert party planned. I think by having an appetizer option you'll be offering someting different, and a chance for us to taste something different from Disney since we already tasted dessrts........just a gal looking for variety.....

Yellowrose, that's a good point. We already have a dessert party, so why not make this a hors d'oeuvre party. So........I'm changing my choice to hors d'oeuvres. I like variety, too. L
