DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

The law has always been if someone enters your house, you have the right to use deadly force.

That brought up the joke about if you shot them in the yard, you drag them to your entryway.
I'd heard that one. ::yes::
With all the insanity going on now, all bets are off. I can't expect any semblance of common sense or being able to protect yourself/family/house any more.
My mate who is a copper always told me if you find someone in your house, kick the swizzle out of them and then leave them at the front of the house with a window open somewhere above them. Tell the police they dove out of it, and it gives the coppers an out. We don't do guns over here, since about 1905.
Bats... you do bats, don't you?
No one here (mostly) do guns either.
In everyday parlance, totes. In this particular scenario, nah bro.

And truth be told, the last neighborhood I was in were we didn't have one (which I liked to be sure) also came equipped with several residents who were capable of considering the impacts their actions and uses put to their "properties"on none but themselves (many right near where we were unfortunately). There were a number of instances where a few could have done with a bit of persuasion in that regard.
Ah yes. The flip side of the coin.
Ya' can't shoot an email.
But you can ignore it.
Nor a court summons (if it comes to that).
That'd be a bit tougher.
I can see where folks would draw that opinion of us in general though.
Nah. Was kidding.

Afternoon Dads! Sounds like all are well glanced through today's banter to kind of get caught up. Not enjoying getting back into the swing of reality but guess someone has to make up for Randall :rotfl: After a nice break the first couple of days back to work has me thinking about how do I accelerate retirement? Stay safe gents and will try to get back into the swing here this week.

and pissin' in the stew pot.
I am totally stealing this phrase. I know what you mean about that tendency for rebelling though. If I'm doing something, the person I'm doing it for chases me, it automatically goes to the back of the list. I cant help myself.

There may be a cheeky little slugger from Louisville in my room.....

:rotfl:
Hold on mate, just opening a couple of windows

And there in lies the rub...
As long as there's a happy ending to the story.

ahem
And I'm sure you were...
but as I said, given the image of ourselves that "we" as a "nation" seem to go out of our way to curate...

I can see where folks would draw that conclusion.
And truly believe it.
You can have my conclusion when you pry it from my cold, dead brain.

Wait... you have a gun whereas I do not. Forget I said anything!

There ya go.

Hey gents. Just started my last night shift for this cycle.
Looking forward to a week off starting tomorrow.
No major plans for the time off. There’s the inevitable honey do list so I’ll try to knock a couple things off that. DW and I are talking about doing a boat tour (whale & seabird watching), I’ve never done one before since it’s more of a touristy thing but this year is probably a good one to do it.

Morning all. On my walk yesterday, I found a downed tree limb maybe 5 minutes from the house. I continued on the walk, returned to drag home the 20+ foot long limb, and then sawed it up to burn in the firepit. I am the envy of all my neighbors.
Since I’ve built my fire pit this summer, I have done that a couple times myself. There’s a dead end at the end of my street and always some dead fall trees there. If I need firewood I’ll just walk down and drag back a couple sticks.

t another incredible trip to DaWorld. Nothing about reality has changed. Monday's still suck and Tuesdays aren't much better. That's all my wisdom for today.
Welcome back. I enjoyed following along on FB, it looked like you were all enjoying yourselves.

Man, that's gotta feel good.

Nice!
Funny how you don't do "touristy" things in your own backyard. For years I've been saying I should take a tour of the Royal Cdn Mint... still haven't. (And now I can't, due covid.)

NHL playoffs games started today. First game to start has now finished its 4th overtime period, that's 140 minutes and counting. Because they are in a bubble and there was still a game to be played, they've had to move that game to tomorrow morning.

Well, the Royal "We" may be armed to the teeth,
But my personal armory consists of nothing more then a medium caliber Louisville.

Whoa. Just looked. 5 OTs... :sad2:
At what point do you just say "Listen. Just shoot. We'll let you win."

Morning, Gents, from a beautiful Cape Cod. Another good day yesterday. I did have to make some changes on a deal that's closing this Friday, and had to have someone help me with it, so I learned something new. The managing partner wants to meet with me starting next week to help train me, which is awesome. He's even considering having someone from one of the title insurance company's we use come out and give me some training on a program we use. So lots of training coming my way. Well, that's it for now. Have a good day, gents, and we'll chat on the other side.

Good Afternoon guys - Back from yet another incredible trip to DaWorld. Nothing about reality has changed. Monday's still suck and Tuesdays aren't much better. That's all my wisdom for today.

Carry On.

Ah, but we're now onto Wednesday, which means we've made it through half the week, so that's good.

That gives us a clearer picture of where-a-bouts on the Cape you call home.
Glad the new post is suiting you.
May that continue to be the case.

didn't think about that part, but given that most of you guys know the where abouts the others live, I feel fairly comfortable with having given that bit of information. Besides, there's still a lot of houses between where I live and work. However, if ever any of you guys come out this way, I can certainly give you guys some places to visit...and be willing to meet up for a beer or two.

Not exactly.

If anyone breaks into my house to do harm to me or my family, God help them because I won't. I'd do some serious damage. Thankfully we don't have that problem around here. We've had a few, very small, demonstrations, but otherwise things have been calm and orderly.

I have a honey do list...I have no idea where said list is, but I do have one.

I took my niece and her husband out on a whale watch when they came out for a visit and had a blast.

:thumbsup2 Never let anything go to waste.

So, you're new boss is the Captain of the USS Alabama? :lmao:

:rotfl2:Pretty much, except she hasn't peed on the deck yet. :rotfl2:

As for KY, it takes about 8 hours to drive the state east to west, the same amount of time it takes to get to the nearest ocean. As such, we have a diverse landscape from mountains to lakes to farmland, and some beautiful state parks. If you ever vacation here (not sure why you would), then I'm happy to make some recommendations.

Sounds nice. My brother said he wanted to move to that part of the country when he retires.

I did the "touristy" thing when I first moved to Boston over 20 years ago...even did the Boston Pops 4th of July concert once. I only do them now when family comes to visit I take that back, I took the family to Boston once for a day in the city and had fun.

Yusss!!!

Learning. Always good.

That all sounds really good. Looks like they'll keep you.
I have a honey do list...I have no idea where said list is, but I do have one.

Morning all. Tennis last night and tonight as well, although I'm hoping for a rainout. Our Socialist Governor extended mask orders and delayed face to face in schools until after fall Break, which begs the question, if masks work, then why the continued shutdown. Colleges remain in session though (for now). Ugh.

Good Afternoon guys - Back from yet another incredible trip to DaWorld. Nothing about reality has changed. Monday's still suck and Tuesdays aren't much better. That's all my wisdom for today.

151st Groundhog day.

Hay Y'all...
Well, our HOA is spending my money again.
Was ordered to have the siding washed. Now I was planning to have that done anyway, but ya' still don't much want the local Stasi barging in the house spitin' on the rug and pissin' in the stew pot.
Just ain't neighborly.

Silver lining: I do get to work from the house this afternoon and that beats sitting in the overlord's fishbowl by several clicks. Heck, I even have time to bother y'all, so we may just chalk it up as a win.

Good luck with Cynthia. At least you get to work from home though.

Did Cynthia cut down your mailbox with a chainsaw yet?

Maybe that limb @AirGoofy found was really someone's mailbox post she got ahold of.

I know I mentioned this before, but soooooo glad I don't have deal with that.

Our HOA announced a $10 increase this year and a $20 increase the following year. Hmmmm...... since no one has been allowed to even have a meeting outside in our Socialist regime for 5 months, why the increase?

Yes, I'm so hoping that we can get this deal and move out into the county with no homeowners association.

Aren't US citizens legally allowed to shoot people who come on their property?

50 states have different rules. Some have "stand your ground" laws and others have "proportionate response" laws. Then you have to consider the subjectivity of the police, prosecutor, and now Karen in social media. What if the trespasser is stealing, vandalizing, or threatening on your property? Can you use lethal force? How "far" does a woman have to be sexually assaulted before being allowed to use lethal force? Sometimes, we are too concerned with the rights of the criminal over the rights of the victim.

We can all accelerate retirement to tomorrow, depending on what you want retirement to look like.

As long as there's a happy ending to the story.

That's a wonderful conclusion to any story.

Well, the Royal "We" may be armed to the teeth,
But my personal armory consists of nothing more then a medium caliber Louisville.
;)

I have a gun per person in the house, although, it wasn't my intent. I'm sure I'll buy more.

Dated one crazy girl like that, minus the baseball bat. A lot of fun, and a lot of misery.

Thankfully we don't have that problem around here. We've had a few, very small, demonstrations, but otherwise things have been calm and orderly.

Whale watching sounds fun, other than looking at myself in the mirror. :sad2: We will plan it one day.

We live in a rather safe area here as well. I've met up with some of this group and some from FB at WDW, Huber Farms, Indianapolis, Louisville, Nashville, and even a Walmart parking lot. That last one sounds suspicious. Philip in Nashville came by my house when he drove up to take a test for the USPS. I guess the origins of these boards had some type of anonymity, but I try to treat people the same way I would in person. Maybe it's a southern hospitality thing, but I'd invite most to my home to share a meal.

:rotfl2:Pretty much, except she hasn't peed on the deck yet. :rotfl2:

Who hasn't peed on the deck yet? Your boss or the dog? :lmao:

Thanks for the update. I have no idea what day of the week it is anymore. I'm hoping that starting a new job next month will return that part of life to normal.

Top O the Mornin Dads! Enjoyed the NHL playoffs and chatting with some of the Dads during that 5OT game. Enjoyment ended about 11:30 last night my time as it was clear my Blackhawks are in over their heads with Vegas. Enjoy the midpoint, stay safe and stop for a minute to take a deep breath and smile.
