Stop buying $25 Disney gift cards every paycheck. You’re sinking money into something that isn’t earning interest, is losing value as fast as inflation and Disney prices rise, and is in a form that can’t be used for anything else if the poop hits the fan more than it already has. If you absolutely must save for a trip right now (although I don’t think that’s a good idea) at least put it in a savings account where it might earn a little interest and is available to raid if you need emergency cash.By the way, we're not doing a trip anytime soon. I've already told her no trips this year of any kind except going home to see family. Not until we get this under control. She doesn't care because it's not affecting her credit. But we have to get it under control, and I'm glad I have the help of this board to push and give advice. Period.
I mentioned needing a budget up thread and you basically said your wife would never go for that. Even if you don’t call it budgeting, you absolutely need to know where you’re money is going. Track everything for a month. Your income is not terrible, you should be able to make some headway with some hard decisions. But how do you even know if you have an extra $20 to throw at debt if you don’t track what’s been paid and what’s coming?
And lastly, you need to read your credit card statements. I’m not sure you have a full handle of how much interest you’re really paying.
