Disney Dream - June 12, 2011

Nicole,

I've been on the dis is 2004 and that one stumped me, since it's so new. Where i'm from BLT = Bacon, Lettuce and Tomato Sandwich. HAHA...
We've never done the fish extender thing, but I'm planning on noseying around on some other threads and figuring it out.

Steven

I'm super excited about this cruise. I'm a reading specialist and the timing is perfect. I cannot wait to go to Atlantis! My husband and children have been, so I'll finally get to go!!!

I love that we get to go to CC 2 times.

Bridget

Hey ya'll :yay:- we're from SC too and booked this cruise onboard in October. This will be our fourth cruise with Disney and I think it is fair to say that we are hooked! I'm also a teacher in the public schools as well as an administrator (assistant principal). DH works for the Highway Partol and also has a lawn and landscape business. DS's are typical boys! We want to do FE's, but we've got some time to get that together. More from us later!

Hi there Bridget. I've gotten you added to the first page. Like you, we are super excited about Atlantis - the water park looks like great fun. :goodvibes

Welcome to the party!! I got you added to the first page. :goodvibes

Our info for the first post is - Me (Krista) DH Garrett DS (10) William DS (7) Reavis (pronounced Rev-is - his name DOES NOT rhyme with Beavis) Can't believe how many southern educators there are on this trip. Should be great therapy after the school year ends. Our last 3 cruises had great FE groups and there is no right or wrong as to what you give. THere are some ideas posted from our last cruise, I'll dig for it and repost it here for the newbies. We also split the groups into 2 and we only had about 10 cabins to find. That was really nice - also our meet and greet was in the Promade Lounge (who know what it will be on the Dream and that was a nice place to meet because we could spread out and we weren't in anyone's way. I'll be happy to organize the FE info close to the time we set sail.

Just checking in! Would love to be a part of the Fish (shell, starfish, sea horse) extender exchange as well! If we don't have a Fish, or the like, we could use magnetic hooks on our doors for the exchange! That might work! I guess we'll have to wait and see! I am itchin' to see more photos of the ship, but it's going to be another YEAR before that happens! Seems so far away!
We were looking at the floor plans again, specifically, the area where we chose our rooms. Anyone have any idea what the dead space is between 7194 and 7690? and why don't 7191 and 7689 have balconies? They are the ONLY rooms at the back of the boat to not have them. What is that space used for? It looks like it can't be accessed unless you go through the rooms. Odd. Maybe we can take the wall down and have one HUGE deck? ok, ok, I can DREAM, can't I?
I guess I better find a count down ticker....it's gonna be hard to keep up with!

More from SC! Glad to meet you....Only 5 bazillion more days!:rotfl2:

Gosh...I never even considered that there would be no fish for fish extenders. :( ACK!!

Nicole...I'm LOLing at your comments wondering what the heck all the acronyms mean. Crystal's referral to my secret decoder ring was in reference to my needing one with my last DIS board because as a newbie, I had no clue what all the acronyms meant. I don't consider myself a newbie anymore. But along the way, feel free to PM me (send me a "P"ersonal "M"essage) to ask any ?s. Or just ask right on here. Everyone is so nice and so tolerant of newbies.

Add another Texan in! We live right outside of Dallas, but we both work in Dallas and our kids go to school near my husband's work.

I looked last week after we booked and didn't see a thread, then on a whim decided to look this week and you guys already have four pages. That is awesome!

This will be our sixth cruise on a Disney ship. We've done one on the Wonder, and four 7-night cruises on the Magic. I swore I'd never go to a shorter cruise, but I couldn't pass up the Dream and two stops at CC.

It will me (Marci), DH (Randy), DS 15 (Andrew) and DS 12 (Jake). I think our cabin is 12002.

Hi, Marci - I will get you guys added to the first page. Great picture of your family in...St. Thomas??? Looking forward to chatting with you. :goodvibes

Looks like we will be joining you too. Just changed my June 26, 2010 Wonder 5 day cruise with double stops at CC to June 12, 2011 on the DREAM. We booked the Maiden Voyage of the DREAM two weeks ago, and are still dancing about that one!!! :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:
However, reality is starting to hit and decided that we are not sure the purse can handle both those cruises this year, so moved this summer's out a year (less 2 weeks) and saved $2000!!!! :cool1: We will no longer be on the cruise for my DD birthday, but . . . . . the MV of the Dream and a 5 day cruise 2 weeks before her birthday (and within 6 months of each other) still sound fantistic to me!!!!

We live in Jacksonville, FL, but my husband and I were born and raised in NC, so we are true southerns like a lot of others that I have seen on this trip. Looking forward to meeting everyone! We will give you the scoop on the ship after the MV!!

Sharon and George
DD Kaleigh (13 - 2 weeks shy of 14 at the time of the cruise)
DD Mallory (7 at time of cruise)

On a final note, just hoping that Mallory grows at least 6 more inches prior to the cruise to make the aquaduck height requirement. :wizard: If not, the entire ship will hear about it the entire cruise!! :rolleyes1

Welcome to the party!! My DD (who will also be 7 on the cruise) will be hoping like heck to hit the 48" mark too (with no cheating with the shoe heights like we can do at the parks - LOL). I'll get you added to the first page too. :yay:

We are all going on our first 'double dip' disney cruise "Woo Who!!!"
We have to wait until June 2011 "Boo Hoo!!"

So far it's...

Cabin #1 – Me and wife
Cabin #2 – Daughter #1, Son-in-law, and grandson #2
Cabin #3 – Son #1, Daughter-in-law, granddaughter#1, and granddaughter#2
Cabin #4 – Son #2, Great-Grandfather, and Great-Uncle
Cabin #5 - Daugher-in-law, grandson #1, and neice

I've call Disney so many times... that they all know who we are already... not sure if that's good?

Close... St. Martin. We were on one of Bernard's tours.

Steven - hope all went well with the birth of your baby girl! I'm sure she is precious and mom and dad are exhausted - but its the best kind of exhaustion to have! Welcome to the (Disney)world Ansley!

The weather has finally cooled down here in SC although I saw that it was supposed to be almost 80 today:confused3. We will be headed to the upstate this weekend to see Clemson take on Virginia.:cheer2::cheer2: My more football savy friends tell me that if the Tigers can beat the Cavs, we will play for the ACC championship - that just seems crazy to me considerieng this lukewarm season that we've been having!

Oh- I forgot to mention that in addition to teaching 4 year olds in public school and serving as the school's assistant principal, I am also in graduate school (still) working oh my EdD in Instructional Leadership. I think I've officially become a professional student! AND in my spare time, I'm a Thirty-One Gifts consultant. If you don't know the products - check it out. It is absolutly the easiest thing I've ever done and my commission checks have paid for our last 2 Disney cruises and will pay for this Dream cruise. www.thirtyonegifts.com or my personal site www.mythirtyone.com/2466

My next post will have the FE tips.

Have a great week everyone!

Here are some posts from my Oct. cruise with FE gift ideas. The great thing about FE's is that there is no right or wrong - its just great fun! I pick up stuff at the Dollar Tree - they typically have lots of Disney themed items, the $1 section at Target is good and Oriental Trading.

We had a seeing eye dog (acutally 2) sailing with us, so ignore the info about gifts for Denver, unless Cari decides to join us on this cruise too - which would be great!

OK - Here we go:

I BOOKED IT I BOOKED IT YAHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! im offically booked you guys !!!!!
i can head up the extenders if everyone agrees ???? i found this last time which was my first time the best way to do it was to start at the lowest or highest floor and work your way up or down from there..... NO theres really no limit to what you put in but it is supposed to be fun so just remember dont spend a fortune and dont stress things i got this last time
candy
candles
bandaids
hand sanatizer
antibacterial wipes
a mini pedicure kit
pencils
pens
magnets
shot glass and mini bottle of rum
DENVER GOT LOTS OF GOODIES TOO ( i will post a doggie list later he has special diet since he is a guide dog )
a small picture frame etc etc
these r all things most people get at the dollar store... since by the time everyone signs up for the FE the list can get big so thats why we try to do dollar items .... most valueable thing i learned if you buy something for each person in the room ( like 3 people in a room and you buy say 3 pads of paper and pens ) sometimes its cheaper to buy 1 enjoyable family gift (like i bought 1 family a DH and DW a deck of cards to share ) you dont have to but it is an oprion and is what i kinda did for some of my stuff and other stuff i bought for all of the people in the room

what i though i would do since i know the lay of the ship now is map it all out for everyone where each room is and how to get there etc ...... REMEMBER this is the plan in my head LOL what actually winds up happening is something to find out LOL
anyways for my cruise we did extenders every night the first secnd and third so everyone hung their FE when they got onboard .....i myself seem to be a very late night delivery kinda gal so far warning !
oh im soooo excited
any other ?s about FE just let me know and let me know if your all good with me keeping the list up to date and mapping stuff out ?
cari and Denver[/QUOTE]

Here's another :
Thanks for volunteering to coordinate the FE lists. I do have a cabin assignment, but don't have it with me at the moment. We also can't wait to meet everyone in person. Thanks too for the list of goodies for Denver - AJ (the grandson) will love meeting him especially!

I found a seller on eBay that will custom make an FE for you. Her ebay seller id is iluvdisney2008 and her items for sale can be found at : http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZilvdisney2008. If you correspond with her - you can make specific requests. I've ordered one as a Christmas present to the rest of my travelmates.

On our way to a WONDERful Disney Halloween!

And here are some pics:
Here are some pics of our FE gifts :thumbsup2
