The Walt Disney Company Names Hugh Johnston As Senior Executive Vice President And Chief Financial Officer

Hugh F. Johnston has been named Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of The Walt Disney Company (NYSE: DIS) effective December 4, it was announced today by Robert A. Iger, Chief Executive Officer. Johnston is Vice Chairman and Chief Financial Officer of PepsiCo, where he has held numerous leadership positions during a highly successful 34-year career with the multinational food and beverage giant.

As Disney’s Chief Financial Officer, Johnston will report directly to Iger and will lead the company’s worldwide finance organization, which includes corporate real estate, corporate strategy and business development, enterprise controllership, enterprise technology, financial planning and analysis, global product and labor standards, global security, investor relations, risk management, tax, and treasury.

“Hugh’s well-earned reputation as one of the best CFOs in America and his wealth of leadership experience in both financial and operational roles overseeing a diverse portfolio of top global brands make him a perfect addition to Disney’s senior leadership team,” said Iger. “His expertise will serve Disney and its shareholders well as we continue the transformative work we are doing to drive growth and value creation.

“I would also like to extend my sincere gratitude to Kevin Lansberry, who stepped into the CFO role on an interim basis earlier this year,” Iger said. “Kevin has provided steady leadership and invaluable counsel to our executive management team, and he will continue to be one of our company’s most important financial leaders as he returns to his role as CFO of our Disney Experiences segment.”

“Disney is such a storied company, with the most beloved brands in the world and a strong financial foundation to support the company of the future that Bob and his team are building,” Johnston said. “Very few companies have withstood the test of time that Disney has, making the company as rare as it is special. I share Bob’s enthusiasm for Disney’s future, and I am incredibly excited to join this management team in this moment of opportunity and possibility.”

Pepsi to replace Coke as the official soft drink at Disney parks confirmed? 🤣

Disneyland Paris' next AP party doesn't sell out immediately... and the ticketing tool worked...

Yeah, bit of a strange thing over here in Europe. Only 6 weeks in advance DLP announced the next AP party on the 30th of November, 9pm to 2am, 55 euro p.p and you can bring 2 guests.

Weird thing 1. Only 6 weeks before the event. Normally it is longer.
Weird thing 2. It is on a Thursday
Weird thing 3. November usually has many cold and rainy days. Temps will be low 30s normally this time of year.

But apparently they are planning AP parties to kick off a season, right before the Halloween season was the previous party.

Weird thing 4. Two parties very close after each other.

They have learned and announced the sales date & time in advance.

Weird thing 5. They announced the program.

Normally they release the program a day in advance via the fansites.

Today was the day to buy tickets and in contrast to previous parties, the ticketing tool worked! Yes, they used a waiting room, but where we had to wait hours with previous parties, I had tickets within 15 minutes. And on social media basically no complaints about a glitchy system.

Weird thing 6. Disney IT worked!

So, the event has been on sale for a few hours and tickets can still be bought. Why doesn't it sell out immediately? Possibilities:
- weather
- weekday
- program (?), see below.
As mentioned normally they do not announce the program in advance, so people buy blindly.
They have learned not to do character m&gs anymore at AP events. So only selfie spots.
- previous AP events were very crowded.
- previous AP events were French centric
Communication about the event is in 2 languages and almost everything in the park is normally in 2 languages, but at the parties itself they switch to French only.
- less AP holders?
After the renewal and price increase of the program there was a lot of backlash and plenty of AP holders decided not to renew.

The announced program:
🇬🇧 The program for the AP/Disneyland Pass Party "Christmas Night" has been unveiled! 🌹
You'll find several characters in various selfie spots, and discover 5 new shows:
- 9:15pm, Enchanted Christmas Opening (Central Plaza)
- 9:45pm/10:45pm/00:30am/1:30am, Mickey's Dazzling Christmas Parade on stage! (Videopolis)
- 11pm/ 00:15am, Beauty and the Beast: Tale as old as time (Central Plaza)
- 10pm/11:30pm/1am, Mickey's Winter Wonderland: Magical Memories (Castle Stage)
- 2am, Enchanted Christmas Ball (Central Plaza)

The 7-minute show will begin at 6:15 pm and again at 8:15 pm on Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party nights.

The celebration begins when Olaf and over 100 of his snowgie siblings add garlands, ornaments, wreaths, and more to Cinderella Castle.

Next, Anna, Elsa, and Kristoff will appear on stage with Olaf—all decked out in their holiday best. The festivities culminate as Elsa adds the finishing touches with her ice magic, transforming Cinderella Castle into a shimmering crystallized palace.

Note this new show is projection-based and will not use the LED lights used in the past for a Frozen Holiday Wish.

Interesting. One initial report I saw said that it was going to be during regular park hours but it looks like it is only during parties if I read that correctly. Or, at least on party days only party-goers get to see it since it's after 6:00.

Well, I wasn't being serious, but how on Earth would that be great? Coke > Pepsi all day every day! 🤣

I don't like Coke or Pepsi, but even I agree with this. What I wouldn't give if they would sell Dr Pepper.

It's possible that it could show during regular hours after the last party night.

Do they still sell Fresca in the US? I thought it was only outside the US. I think I have seen it in Europe or South America. Haven't had Fresca since I was a kid. Can't get rid of that artificial sweetener taste in my mouth :rotfl2:
My grandmother always offered us a "fresca" and/or a bowl of coffee brandy ice cream. If we opted for ice cream we had to sit on the linoleum floor in the kitchen so we wouldn't make a mess of the furniture or carpets...good times!

I have Fresca in my garage right now.

Earl of Sandwich will open a temporary pop-up shop in the west end of Downtown Disney District this winter, featuring a menu of guest favorite sandwiches, Disneyland Resort announced on Monday.

The current Earl of Sandwich will remain open for a period of time after the new pop-up opens - which means Downtown Disney will have two Earl's for an unknown period of time.

Porto's Bakery is still expected to open in the current Earl's location at some point in the future.
