Electric Bill & Delivery Charges

We have Versant here in northern Maine; it's the only choice game in town. Just got the bill today and I was IRATE. Here's the breakdown:
Bangor Hydro District (Rate A residential service)
Versant Delivery:
Distribution 884kWh $74.26
Transmission $38.74
Stranded Costs $15.51
Conservation $ 2.72
ME taxes/fees $ 1.09
Versant Delivery subtotal $132.33

Standard Offer Supply Service:
Electricity supply: 315.74kWh $51.90
Electricity supply: 568.29kWh $87.73
Maine sales tax $ 1.16
Supplier Subtotal $140.79

VERSANT DELIVERY & SUPPLIER TOTAL= $273.12

It's $60 higher than last month. The 20-somethings run their window a/c All The Time, at about 65 degrees. Came home the other day to an empty house. They'd been gone all afternoon, a/c cranking, bedroom door wide open, as well as every other door and window on the floor open. That's stopping NOW, even if I have to take the unit out of the window (they are the only ones in the house with a/c).

Yipes! We have a 3 bedroom house with AC, my bill was about $72. Total.

Supply $28.91 40%
Delivery $27.60 38%
Taxes $16.45 22%
Total: $72.96

ComEd, Chicago, middle of summer. 2,500 square-foot condo. It's always highest in the summer with the A/C on. In June it was $43.14. July and August are always about $80. Other months it's consistently at about $42, of which $16 is the supply.

Wow, some people have exceptionally low bills, wasn't expecting that.

If at all possible my next place is going to have those TESLA solar roof tiles, I hear they can be bought with some sort of battery backup. We had them in an Air B & B last year and the only way to tell was the TESLA box on the building. I have no idea how that cost structure works but it has to be better than what I have now.

Ouch.

That works out to almost $0.31 per kWh all inclusive.

My last bill for 2684 kWh would be $829 from your provider compared to the $336 I paid.

Just got an email today saying that my electric bill was increasing to $614 / month immediately. We have budget billing where they charge the same amount each month and then we pay any difference at the 6 month mark.

4 b/r here, 2006 kWh last month (a/c runs 24/7 during the summer)-bill (all in) $162.96. i will say that if the o/p has window a/c's running in addition to central a/c they pull ALLOT of power (just like space heaters which can cost a fortune to run).

i find it's easier and less expensive to maintain a temp, be it warming or cooling vs. trying to heat the place up or cool it down.

We have time based rates thanks to Smart Meters.
Power we use from 5 pm to 8pm costs .3279 per kW.
Power we use outside those hours costs .1864 per kW.

According to my bill, my solar panels generated 99 kW more electricity than I used.

Zero pass thru charges. 1928 kWh. Electricity cost was $227 plus $13 in taxes. Metro atlanta. 3 level house with 2 central heating/air units running plus one mini split unit cooling the basement.

How do you use so much electricity?
Live in a hot climate with a big house.

My in laws live with us in the basement so it's like two houses in one as far as electric usage is concerned.

The end result is lots of high draw electrical products.

3 A/C, 1 heat pump, 2 dryers, 2 ovens, 1 cooktop, 2 electric cars.....

My electric company provides easy access to usage data. The final column is the electricity dispensed by the EVSE used to charge my cars.

Screenshot 2023-08-12 at 9.53.12 PM.png

So that means I can figure out what my house costs vs my cars.

$534 for driving and $2721 for the house.
$44.50 a month for driving and $226.75 a month for the house.

At your all in of $0.3953 my 24892 kWh would cost $9839.81. Almost $820 a month. Far too much!

Edited to add:
According to the EIA the average US home uses 10,632 kWh per year. I have two households under one roof so I should use 21,264 kWh. My usage is only 17% above average and that could be accounted for by my particular location in the country.

78 in delivery charges. Last month's bill was 197 dollars, this month is less but it's an estimate month. I live in a 2100 square foot home in Buffalo NY with 3 zone central air that I keep between 74 and 75 degrees except at night, where I turn my bedroom and the kids rooms down to 71. It is more than double what I was paying 5 or 6 years ago without anything changing in the house. The only consolation during summer is my gas bill is only like 30 bucks.

Northeast FL
we have Clay Electric co-op. 1500ish sq ft, 3 bdrm, 2 bath. 3 computers on most of the time, a/c runs constantly from May until October; ceiling fans in master bedroom/dining area, and we put up wall fans in the other two bedrooms and living room area.

I don't have August bill yet; it gets read on the 16th, but July's was:

6/16-7/16
Access charge 32.00
Energy charge 1000kwh @ .0725 72.50
Energy charge 979 kwh @ .0913 89.38
Power cost adjustment 1979 kwh @ .0185 36.61
Subdivision lighting small 1.40
Light PCA .07
FLA gross receipts tax 5.94
FL state sales tax .10
Clay Cty Salex tax .02
Clay Co public ser utility tax 5.56

243.58

Avg kwh 66 (1979, 30 days)
last month (june) avg 57 (1772, 31 days)
Last year avg 70 (2306, 33 days)
avg daily high 92

And a note: Lower power cost this month. Members are being billed less for power in July thansk to a reduction in the power cost adjustment. Members using the industry household average of 1000 kwh will pay $123, a $7 savings.
-----------------------

I expect the August bill to be about $275-300; I've budgeted $300 but I still have a credit of $232.56 from paying extra in January from DH's end of year bonus (and continuing to pay the amount due each month), to help with the higher costs during the summer. We used to do budget billing with them (we've had them since 2011 at the various houses), but you have to be in your place for a year so they can calculate the amount correctly, then they adjust it every 6 months, and I didn't even bother with it at the year mark. /shrug
