2 Questions -

Will I even need Express Pass March 2-4?

Is it better to purchase it ahead, or can you upgrade at the park?

EP prices increase the closer to the date of visit, so if you decide you really want them, it'll be cheaper to purchase ASAP.

As far as needing them for that time, there are so many variables. How tolerant are you & the members of your party to standing in lines? Do you anticipate wanting to re-ride a lot? Are you staying onsite? What is the make up of your party? Are you spending all day in the parks each day?

A bit more info would help recommendations if you feel comfortable providing it 👍

DH definitely wants the EP's. It will be us, DS22 and DNephew20, so I do anticipate some re-riding.

Yes, we would be onsite. - Looking at a suite at Surfside.

Whether we stay all day or take a break depends a lot on the weather (and whether we do three theme park days or two and a Volcando Bay day if it happens to be warm enough).

If DH is pretty standing in lines intolerant, then might be a good idea to get EPs.

If staying at Surfside which is super economical , then you might consider booking one night at a Premier resort as a throwaway room - it would get you 2 days of EPs for everyone on the room reservation & you could use the room for a midday break if you wanted.

Would have to compare to purchasing individual EP for those two days to the room cost, but with a party of 4, you're likely to come out ahead with the Premier room ressie.

If you definitely want them, buy ASAP as they raise the prices frequently and often dramatically as the dates approach. That said, they're date specific and non-refundable so you then just hope for good weather.

You may consider the premier resort as @DoryGirl1963 mentioned - booking 1 night nets you 2 days of EP for 4 people & will likely be much cheaper than buying the EPs directly. Be aware that there will be an additional charge for more than 2 adults in the room.

You might also consider if you need EPs for all 3 days vs just 1-2. You can do an awful lot with no lines and/or things that EP doesn't help with - shopping, shows, Hagrids, Velocicoaster, exploring, Harry Potter spells, plus any rides with single rider lines (exception being Rip Ride Rocket which tends to have long-ish waits in single rider).
