This has been a great thread for a swap beginner like me. Actually, I am less than a beginner. I am also new to Boards and threads. I tried the link below that was supposed to show examples of different elements, but the link did not work. Was it too old? I did find some great links on the Swap Glossary just now. Does it include the broken link by BernardandMissBianca post #18.

Also, ummmm... what is a sticky???? (I know. I know. SUCH a newbie!)

I just started on the Organize Your Space Challenge, and it is SUPER~FANTASTIC. I was told about this swap thread because I had no idea what a swap WAS. Thanks for the beginner's thread.

A sticky is a thread that is stuck, by a moderator, at the top -- so you don't have to look for it. It is always one of the first few threads.

Yes, that link is no more. The swap gloassary and the swap gallery are the best places to look for examples.

Another sticky is the swap calendar -- that will let you know when swap sign ups are open. Right now there is a paper piecing swap and a flock swap open (I think -- I am not the hostess, it may be closed.) Next sign up is for a calendar, a rather ambitious swap to start with, as it requires 12 sets.

Thank you so much. I think I am going to be shy a little longer on the swaps, but I am definitely interested. Thanks for the links, so I have an idea of how swaps are organized, etc.

If you have questions don't hesitate to ask. We were all newbies once!

The only thing we ask is that you use the right tools, like acid free paper and adhesive and when you do sign up for the swaps you only take a maximum of 2 spots in a swap so you don't get overwhelmed or anything. And to read each hostesses guidelines carefully. For the most part the rules are the same but each hostess has certain things they like done for postage and such.

In the mean time, jump in to threads and chat with us so we can get to know you.

It lists the upcoming swaps that will be available and the due dates (usually just the month until the final date has been determined)...

Usually we will post interest threads 2-3 weeks prior to sign ups to give additional information or to obtain feed back on whatever would like to see with the upcoming swap. The hostess in this thread will give you the definited sign up date, expectations/requirements, mailing/packaging and due date for the swap.
