Did you know that you can see the availability of DVC resorts at the disneyvacationclub.com site? Once you log on, go to "Plan Vacations" -> "Resort Availability Tool." That will show you what is available in your time frame. It will show you up to the 11 month window for all resorts, even though you can only book at your home resort from 7 to 11 months. That should give you an idea of how difficult a wait list might be.
