We moved almost 2 years ago for the first time after 30 years in the same home. We decided to relocate and house-hunt 1800 miles away and argued about renting first vs. buying. Our home had sold quickly and as it turned out, the rental market in our new town was far tighter than the buyer's market. We didn't feel like storing the bulk of our belongings either just to live in an apartment and house-hunt some more. We researched quite a bit online and found a great agent who really knew the whole city and helped us narrow down possible neighborhoods. Being retired made it easier not worrying about jobs so we bought thinking that the worst that would happen is that we would move again once we knew the city even better! Turns out that we like our new town and our home!
