My DH just called from work. He has to go to Orlando on March 21st for 1 week! His work will cover reasonably priced accomadations and a 2 bedroom at OKW, which is where we normally stay, is not reasonable! Can anybody suggest a nice condo/timeshare in the area. We have rented a house before but I would really like to try a condo this time. Something with some good amenities for a 4 and 6 year old. I am in a panic. I usually plan our vacations a year in advance, not 17 days! Thanks so much!

Are you using rack rates or rented points for OKW?

Renting points might be cheaper.

Janette,

I found out the company will only pay $150 a night for lodging. To rent points for a 2 bdr at OKW is alot more then that! I am sure I can get a nice condo for that price. I really don't want to pay any extra out of our pocket because we just returned from a 12 night stay a month ago and we are going back in May. Thanks

hotelkingdom.com had some timeshares with or with/out sales pitch. I think under 100.00 per night.

We stayed at the Villas of Somerset, good location very nice clean units 2 and 3 bedroom. Paid 140/nt CDN(that's about $12 in US funds--just kidding) for a 3 bedroom in January. Less than a 10 minute drive to WDW and really close to a publix. They were fully equipped with washer/dryer, 2 baths, etc. We thought it was excellent value.

Hey, how about the Tropical Palms FunResort? I stayed there with my 2 kids a few years ago, and we all LOVED it. They have studio and 2 BR cottages, and it is beside/behind Old Town (but far enough away for no noise). Each cottage is in a little 'neighborhood' of 2-3 other cottages, and they all have really nice, large decks. The pools were nice, and it was within walking distance of Old Town. I think the website is www.tropicalpalms.com . If I remember correctly, it was around $100/night.

Another option is Westgate. You can configure your own package at their marketing site, http://www.floridavacationstore.com/ . We did that 2 years ago, and loved the resort so much, we ended up buying a timeshare. The sales pitch was very low pressure (otherwise, I'd have been extremely turned off). Lots of activities for kids (my boys, now 7 & 9 love it) and several pools on the properties. We own at Westgate Lakes, but have stayed at the Vacation Villas too. WGL was a bit nicer, but both were really wonderful. Even if you don't want to do the timeshare pitch, you can still get a pretty good deal at the site I listed. They seem to offer better pricing there than they do through the owner referal programs (dang-nabbit!).

Hope that all helps.

Ron Jon Isle of Bali resort is great with families with small children as well as Vistana and Westgate. However, there are many nice condos or villas nearby; have a nice time.

I haven't stayed at Ron Jon's, but their mini-waterpark would be just right for your kids. Of course, you'd be a little further out than you're used to being.

Thanks to everyone for the great information. I am sad to report that we will not be joining my dh on the trip. Instead, he is going to head down for the 3 days he needs to work and that is it. I was unable to find accomadations that were reasonably priced. Almost every place that was of interest to us was sold out for at least a few of the days we needed. Airfare and car rental this time of the year is sky high. We will just have to wait until May for our visit to WDW as a family. I really appreciate everyones opinions/ideas.

Thanks,
Lisa
