Heard a lot of good things about this place, but I've never been there. Is it still worth visiting?
Not sure what you mean here,
@Sanderisan.
To be clear, the horse rides (topic of the thread title) are run from the corral area behind the Outpost Bus stop up near the front entrance to Fort Wilderness (on the back left side of the parking lot). To be honest, the corral area is not much to look at. There is no access to see anything towards the rear.
If you are interested in horses
per se, you might get more mileage out of a visit to the new Tri Circle D Ranch barn on the back side of the Fort near the Settlement Bus Depot and Bay Lake docks (an easy boat ride from MK and short walk). Down in the area near Hoop Dee Doo Review and Trails End.
They have horses in stalls for viewing, pony rides for small kids, the steam caliope that is horse drawn, and more. IMO, a horse fan (and I'm not one) would enjoy the TCD area more.

PS - I'm not a horse fan generally and subscribe to the opinion of Ian Fleming, the British author of the original James Bond spy novels. He said, "A horse is dangerous at both ends and uncomfortable in the middle."
PPS - we are a Fort Wilderness fan forum so as a general rule, of course we think the Fort itself is worth a visit (but we are a biased audience) if THAT was the question.
