Hotels in Ft. Lauderdale?

Looking at probably coming in the night before our cruise and staying at a hotel. We are sailing out of Ft. Lauderdale and wondering if people have suggestions on which hotel to stay that one night?

The Hyatt Place Convention Center is not too far from the port (about a $10-12 cab ride) and is a short walk to a shopping center right nearby where there is a Publix (for any last-minute purchases...we bought our sunscreen there) and a Total Wine Superstore (where we bought 2 bottles to take on board our RCL cruse). We ate at Duffy's Sports Bar there as well for dinner.

We really liked Embassy Suites on 17th.

We like Hyatt Place 17th St. Depending on when you're going you can get a great discount through http://www.valuetrips.com/AMS/FL/F17.htm. We paid $99 last August, it would have been $179 if we booked directly through the hotel.

we usually stay at the crowne plaza airport/cruiseport. it's half a block from the port entrance. hard to get any closer. it has nice, modern, large rooms, and a great huge walk-in shower instead of a tub (a plus for us, though maybe not if you have kids).

before the crowne plaza opened up (it's only a year or two old), we usually stayed at the hyatt place 17th street. also nice, and in an area with a lot more around than the crowne plaza if you prefer to walk to restaurants etc.

We loved the Hilton Marina Ft. Lauderdale. You can see all the ships arriving and departing, has a marina in the back as well as a bar/restaurant/pool
area. A shuttle is available (for a fee) right from the hotel to the cruise port.

I am on the Feb 12 sailing on the Freedom of the Seas, traveling with a group. We have a group rate at the Hilton Ft Lauderdale Marina.
The group rate is $239.00. Reg rate is in the area of $300.00.

The group rate applies to any these dates: Feb 6 - Feb 14, 2017.

We have a parking discount too. During the hotel stay and also during the cruise.

The Hilton is 2 miles from the Ft Lauderdale Airport (FLL)
and less than 1 mile from the Cruise Ship Pier.

The group is a military reunion. As we are now less than 5 months from sailing, we need to make sure that all of the rooms in our group block get booked, as we are under a contract with the hotel.
