So, funny story.
My initial plan I put together on here was that our next cards would be CIP for DH and Hilton AmEx Biz for me. I was told that, because DH has an insane amount of available credit already with Chase, we should lower his limits and wait a month to apply. So, I went ahead and applied for mine first. Or tried to. Got the AmEx pop up.
So, I went to an option #2 I had for me. I'm waiting to go back under 5/24 in a few months, so don't want to mess that up. But I had a US Bank Business Cash mailer with a $500 bonus after spending $4500 in 150 days. I figured I would get it since I was prequalified and have excellent credit. But it gave me some sort of "we can't approve you right now" message that read as a denial to me.
So, I gave up, took a chance, and went for DH's CIP right away, without lowering any other credit limits. It took a few days for a status update, but it was approved! So, yay, now we have a $5K spend to make in 3 months (which is do-able, but have to direct most of our day-to-day spending to that card). 80K URs will definitely get used by us. So, all is well and good.
THEN, in the mail today, I received something from US Bank. It was an approval letter!
I could swear the initial message when I applied online was a pretty clear denial (but I didn't save it). So, this was quite a surprise. Between the two cards at once, this is much more MSR than we usually take on. Luckily, I have an almost $3K tuition payment due soon, so I can pay with my new card...and the bonus is this card is 0% for 15 months and I get tuition reimbursement down the line, so I can leave it sit until then instead of paying and waiting for the reimbursement. And the 150 days gives us more time to finish the spend on this, so I think we can do it. But, WOW, was not expecting that at all! An extra $500 will definitely help our vacation fund out, though!
On another note, I see DH has a Chase offer for 10% back on Best Western spending, up to $29 cash back. We have a few nights at the Disney Springs Best Western in March. The offer says: "Offer expires 1/31/2020. Payment for your completed stay must be made by 1/31/2020." Can this do me any good, given the timing?
