If you had to choose Spectro or Fantas

mic, which one would it be? I already have the Fantasmic dinner package reserved and have found that it's on the only night that we could see Spectromagic. I would have to do some major rescheduling to change things around, and I'm getting down to the wire.

Any opinions???

We had the same thing happen to us last year. I hadn't checked out schedule on the day we had a Fantasmic Dinner Package booked and we were on the bus heading to MGM when We discovered it. We quickly changed plans, hopped off at MGM and got on the bus to TTC and went to MK via monorail and saw SM for the very first time. It was incredible, but then we have seen Fantasmic before of course. If it is your first time for both, I would suggest Fantasmic, it is a longer more spectacular show. SM is awesome, but much shorter and a parade not a show. JMHO. Hope it helps.

I would try to do both. If it is definately an either/or situation I'd keep everything just as it is and not worry, you won't be disappointed with Fantasmic. I wouldn't want to add the stress of rearranging my schedule.

Both are very good but I liked Fantasmic better. I really thought Fantasmic was amazing and like nothing I'd seen before. Also, with the package you don't have to worry about seats etc., whereas for Spectromagic you will want to find a good spot, etc.

I am sure some people prefer Spectromagic; maybe see if you can switch your dinner package for Fantasmic to another night, because they are both quite good.

... I'd probably stick by your Fantasmic plans. Spectromagic is incredible but, well, I'm thinking Fantasmic is even more so. It involves so many more characters, technologies, and is far more than any parade could ever be... even a parade as beautiful as Spectromagic. Truth be told, you can look at photos of Spectromagic and sort of get the general feeling for what you missed. You could never, ever get the feeling of Fantasmic withouth actually sitting in that autotorium and feeling the magic wash over you.

indyanna - You don't say if you've seen either show before or not. If you've never seen either one, I'd definitely go for Fantasmic. Spectro is a wonderful parade but Fantasmic is widely considered by many to be the best show WDW has ever produced.

Of course, if doing both is a possibility, then certainly that' s a great option, but if not, then Fantasmic gets my vote.

It's not a dinner show, but rather if you make a PS for dinner at certain restaurants then you get to sit in a special reserved section for Fantasmic which helps to avoid having to wait in a line for a long time. Does that make sense?

Disneysteve, I haven't even seen Disney World yet so Fantasmic will be new to me too! Can you believe I made it to 40 without having ever been? I think I'm even more excited than DS8 and DD11!

Thanks everyone for your input. In another two weeks I'll be a Disney Veteran and maybe I can return the help and kindness extended to me on these boards! I think I'll keep my Fantasmic reservation and just see if there's some way to squeeze in Spetromagic.

indyanna - sorry, I hadn't noticed your counter caption indicating its your first visit. In that case, definitely do both! If you can't book a dinner package for Fantasmic for a different nite, just give in and wait in line like everyone else to see the show. Its definitely worth waiting for. And, in fact, the seats you'll get by waiting in line are better than the reserved section from the restaurants anyway. That way, you can still see Spectro on its one available nite.

If I could only do one and it was my first trip to Disney, then I would vote for Spectromagic, however, I agree with the majority, work your plans so that you can do both you really don't want to miss either one.

Spectro is a parade, but Fantasmic is a show, one of the best Disney has.

Try to do both, no doubt about it! BUT, if you can only do one, and it's your first trip - I would vote for Spectro. After your first trip, you'll be hooked, and you'll be back. Since Spectro is offered less and less these days, and Fantasmic is offered all the time - my guess is you will see Fantasmic in the future - but Spectro may not even be around next time you go. And both are well worth seeing.

Just back and saw both. It was the 2nd time for Spectro and I wasn't planning on seeing it (was going to ride instead while the thousands sat/stood along the street), but DD9 insisted that she didn't remember seeing it 4 years ago. I'm a fireworks lover and have an ear-to-ear grin, then get teary eyed. Fantasmic met those qualifications, plus gave me goosebumps. Spectro didn't thrill me at all. Wishes on Thursday was great. Also saw the last night of FITS while circling on the monorail. Loved IllumiNations too (grins, tears, and goosebumps here too).
Between Fantasmic and Spectro...definitely Fantasmic.

I would vote Spectro since you can see Fantasmic any night but Spectro is only done once a week. YOu have to see both but between the two you wont have another chance to see spectro but you will have another chance to see fantasmic.

Change or cancel your dinner PS and do both. I am sure there are other people in this same situation, so it shouldn't be a problem.

I would do Fantasmic, given a choice. For one thing, you can SIT!!
We went back to MK one evening to catch the fireworks and the late Spectro, but it was so crowded (and this was in mid-September, when crowds were almost non-existent) that we left before the fireworks started. Just wasn't worth fighting the crowds, plus thinking of everyone trying to get back to their resort at the same time afterwards.

Since I'm not a great fan of Spectro I think I would probably pick Fantasmic. Have a great time whatever you decide to do.
