Having read all the trip reports I am just wondering if the term "stand by line" is the same as when people refer to the child swap? Are both these queues through the fast pass queue or seperate queues for each ride? Excuse the spelling.

Thanks...............ONLY 20 Days to go !!!! :goodvibes

Stand by is the regular line for rides that have fast pass. There is the fast pass line and the stand by line. Baby Swap is handled differently on different rides, but there's no specific line for it (they'll send you up the fast pass line or whatever).

Another way they do child swap, and this is the way it was always done for us, is to have the second parent wait in the Exit area and then enter the ride through the Exit. A CM will give you a Child Swap ticket before hand.

On some rides they have parent swap riders enter the ride through the exit line, and on others they have you go through the fastpass line. We've even had parent swap done one way for a ride on one trip, only to have the procedure change the next visit to the same ride.

Two recent trips, and LOTS of child swapping. We have a 6 yr old, 4 year old, and 7 month old.

The last trip (just got back), many of the rides the CM required the parent staying behind (and the child staying with) to be there. At Space Mountain, they wouldn't even take a parent standing by the stroller at the entrance to the hallway ... we all had to walk all the way to the ride entrance to get the child swap. However, it was NOT consistent, even for the same rides. Rides where we at least once had to "show" the person staying behind: Splash, Space, Matterhorn, Mulholland, Big Thunder. Chances are this could happen on any ride. On the flip side, in the last two trips, we had two times where we forgot to get the child swap when the first person went through, but they let us get it afterward (in both instances we were all together).

Space Mountain and the Matterhorn the child swap went through the exit (Star Tours also, the last time we went). Gadget's Go Coaster did not actually have a pass, but they let my wife return throught the exit. Splash Mountain, Soarin', Grizzly River Run, Big Thunder Mountain, Tower of Terror, and Mulholland Madness all sent the child swap back through the Fast Pass line.

When you go back through the exit, it is much quicker (especially Space Mountain ... the FP line on Space is still fairly long, compared to many others).

However, and advantage of going back through the FP line is that you can also use other FPs.

Child swaps are all good for two riders.

AND ... on FP rides, you can get a child swap pass while using a FP. We did this on almost every FP ride.

It actually worked (sort of) well for us in one of two ways. With two kids who could ride most rides, and who had annual passes, we could get 4 FPs. Then we could either use two FPs and ride with one adult and one child and get a child swap, then do the same with the other 2 FPS and adult and child and have two child swaps to come back later. Or, one adult and both kids could ride using three FPs, and get a child swap, then the second adult could ride with both children, using the two spaces from the child swap and the 4th FP (this only would work, though, on rides where the child swap went back through the FP line). We mostly did the second (sometimes, the second rider could only take one child, if there was no FP or the entrance was not through the FP line). Regardless, it still took a lot of time to get the whole family through one ride. Much faster than if they did not have the swap, but not zipping through by any means.

Also ... the child swaps do not have a date on them. They do say that you have to come back on the same day ... but we ended up not using them on one day and were able to use them two days later (if they had told us no, we would have been fine with that). Obviously, this does not guarantee you can use them on another day ... but you might be able to.
