Definitely, I would say closer to 15-20. I think I have a really fuzzy memory of a camel ride being there. Sorry to derail, I’ve gone to that zoo my entire life so found your pictures funPossibly more than 12-13 years ago.View attachment 786606
Will be there in December, first time staying at AKL, so excited! How were the buses, any crazy wait times?
I miss AKL Jambo still one of our favorite resorts. Maybe next year. We are DVC had a 2BR above the Check in one year. DVC is 5th floor only so those rooms are very few. The location was great close to all the savannah views were decent. Never had an issue with the buses stayed at Jambo at least 6 times and 2 times at Kidani.
Staying DVC (Kidani) next week - looking forward to our first stay at the Animal Kingdom property
I hope so, we always end up at the resort for dinner on our trips anywayYou’ll love it! It’s really a magical experience!

Haha - Boma is often on our list - our first night this time for dinner is at Jiko - so looking forward to it again. We really loved Boma. Of course, I don’t think I ate enough to justify the cost, but I’m glad we experienced it.
Still here right now - gosh I love this resort - but DANG the Mara has gone downhill. Breakfast is still great - but the rest, they basically have 5 items, Flatbreads, bowls, Burger, Chicken finger, pulled pork sandwich. It's terrible to place an order in person - only 1 register open almost all the time, big lines, mobile order sucks because the food sits there forever before it comes out. It's not really fresh anymore, there is nothing really african on the menu anymore, and it costs more than ever. So disappointing. Still love it here, the food is still "fine" (breakfast again, quite good), but it used to be one of the best quick service on property, now its just meh, and similar to all the others.
So sad! I just hope that Mara still has the Butternut Squash soup. It's the same as Boma's. The CMs told me, so one night, I got a free sample at Boma, then went to Mara for dinner and had it. Sure enough-identical! And last I knew, they had the Squash soup every night. I'm with you about the lines at the registers, though-doesn't sound good.Still here right now - gosh I love this resort - but DANG the Mara has gone downhill. Thank you for opening yourself up for questions. We're going in October. I've been once before but probably about 15 yrs. ago so excited to go back.
We've booked the resort view as well. One of our main criteria is to have a short walk to the lobby. A couple of people in the group are seniors and it would be helpful. Where was your room located? We're also hoping to get a view that's better then the parking lot. Any suggestions appreciated !
Our room was lobby level and we requested lobby level partial view. So I would put in that request. The lobby is a good place to be as you just can just walk to the buses and take the elevator to the pool and quick service. We saw all types of animals including zebras. You won’t see them all day most likely, but they do come out. Especially in the morning or late evening.
