I was disappointed, personally, with our food in Dec 05. We ate inside.
I agree with a previous poster that Mexican food is much different in US "regions." I'm from Texas and we have TexMex
. The flavoring and spices at TJ seemed more southwestern to me--kind of NEW Mexico (the state) rather than OLD Mexico (the country). I thought it was kind of frou frou Mexican, but, like I said, I'm from Texas.
We like fish and we like tacos. . . but fish tacos? Hmmmm. That dog don't hunt here.
Come to think of it, I wasn't really happy with any of my meals in DTD. We also did Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen. Again, I'm too close to Louisiana and I didn't think Ralph exported the flavors well. Odd, since I spend a LOT of money at the Brennan family restaurants when I travel to New Orleans. . .
I'd eat at TJ's again, but only on a spur-of-the-moment thing. I won't plan my vacation around eating there.
