Wow....I hope the whale was already deceased and the ship didn't kill it. A necropsy is being performed.

According to an article in the NY Times, it is suspected the whale was struck and killed by the ship far out at sea. A necropsy is being done to confirm the manner of death.

As much as it is sad. Let's put it in perspective. The whale ( yes protected as it is) is an animal. One of the downsides of human interaction in the "wild" And cars alone kills 100000ss of animals everyday on the road and nobody gets worked up.

I just drove down Rice rd along the Colorado River and the buzzards were working on a Burro on the shoulder hit near the aqueduct bridge. We drive slow just in case.
Always sad.

Yahoo news reported it was probably from that ship and that they didn’t even feel the impact of the hit because the ship is so big.
