November 2020 - Covid Disney was still magical! My first ever trip report (with throwbacks for fun)

Day Two - MAGIC KINGDOM Part 1

We typically go to MK on day one but as I said before, it didn't work out logistically. So I was eager to see my favorite place on Earth on day two! And I love those "first days of vaca" vibes! We aren't tired yet, we are looking forward to the week ahead, life is good.

Park opening was 9 and the time stamp on this picture is 8 am so we were doing well!

These shirts were made for our Halloween on the High Seas Cruise in 2019 so it felt good to get another year out of them!

Security went quickly and easily again (I really LOVE the new systems now!) and I was finally able to see my favorite soldiers.

I couldn't wait to see the new pink castle! I really actually liked it better in person than I thought I would. And now I actually love it!

Great photo to show the crowd levels before park opening. I love to sleep but not on Disney vacations - I LOVE having a less crowded park.

I didn't wait for any Photopass photographers because I knew I didn't plan to purchase any pictures with the masks. They didn't bother me to wear them, but I really REALLY wish we could have taken off for the photos! Glad they are allowing that now.

We decided to head to Fantasyland first and hit Seven Dwarfs. But look at the carousel.

I just updated my first post (pictures of me) so if anyone could confirm if they can see these? I will try to continue to change them. I was trying to post from Google Photos but I guess I can't do that because of the privacy setting. So I am trying to save each picture to my computer and then upload it from there unless there is an easier way?

Are they tiny thumbnails!?


YALL! I have been blogging and posting for almost 15 years. And I cannot for the life of me figure out this picture issue. If I save them to my computer then upload them they are only thumbnail size!? On my preview, they are normal (large) size... but when I logged out and viewed the report as a non-Disboard user, they were tiny. I am about to lose my mind!

No, they appear to be full size. One of the posts had the option of thumbnail at the end of the post.

Thanks for letting me know! I have no idea why that option is there, either.


I think I will take a break from it and try to fix the huge day 1 post tomorrow. I knew it was weird that I could post more than 10 pictures last week but I was on a roll and hoped for the best!

Welcome Isabelle! I agree about being spoiled! Although Jason says I "maxed out in life" when we went on a Disney Cruise. I do have to agree with him there! I just cannot imagine NOT being able to walk to at least one park now from my hotel. I am eyeing Poly for our next stay but I don't think it will top BWV so I am not sure it is worth more? Have you stayed there?

Day Two - Magic Kingdom Part 2

After a morning (well) spent racing around and riding some of the rides in that corner we headed to Tomorrowland and Space Mountain. Hit the gift shop to spend the money that was burning a hole in their pockets. Had to get some Star Wars shoulder buddies! I'm actually a little sad I didn't get one, these are adorable. I'm a sucker for cute stuffed toys.


The sun started shining and the castle really looked glorious in her new colors!


I had read about the fruit and Nutella waffles at Sleepy Hollow so we decided to head over for a mid-morning snack. I am now 100% a fan of that! So much that I came back again on another MK day! But more than that, we got a private little seat near the Christmas Shoppe and were able to eat in peace and watch the Holiday cavalcades go by. When I think back, it was a perfect Disney moment. We were relaxed, full and so so happy!


We also got to see the Muppets interact with the passerby. Adorable!


Took everything in me not to have them take their masks off (in this little nook away from everyone) but I am a RULE FOLLOWER so they didn't. But otherwise, I love this picture.


We didn't wait long but soon enough we saw another cavalcade...and this was the big one...SANTA CLAUS!


Funny tidbit...Scarlett and I had been fussing at each other at the table (she originally said she would share her food and I would share mine, then she refused to...stinker! I wasn't mad at her; but, I used it as a chance to teach her about following through with your word. And darn it, I wanted to try her strawberry funnel cake!! Then like magic...SANTA appeared. He looked down at her directly and said "I know you have been such a good girl lately!" to which we ALL had a big laugh. Oh Santa, if only you knew!!

Lilli is at the pre-teen age of believing...and we are just going along with it. But she did get excited when he looked right at her and said, "Merry Christmas!" I don't care how old you are, Santa is magical and I will always get warm fuzzies when he acknowledges me, too!


After our delicious snack and well-earned break, we headed over to Splash Mountain. Knowing this might be the last time we got to see it in this state, I made them stop for a picture. Sadly they were OVER pictures at this point and in my haste, I didn't get the flippin' rabbit in the photo. At least it's not Pluto's ear covering a face?

Day Two - Magic Kingdom Part 3

I've always loved Splash Mountain but this time it just felt extra special. Really that is how the whole trip felt. That feeling of not wanting to take anything for granted again...because you just have no clue what the future holds!

Back in 2015, we took our first ever family trip along with my parents and sister. That trip would prove to be especially memorable because less than 3 weeks later, my sister was diagnosed with a deadly brain tumor (glioblastoma). They gave her about a year to live. Miraculously, she is still here today 5 years later!! We can only thank God for this miracle and continue to pray that it doesn't return! But here we are on Splash after getting SOAKED!

And everyone but my dad wussing out in the ponchos!


We started losing steam but decided to head to Pirates. I really just wanted one good pic with our shirts. The lines were getting longer and the sun was getting hotter. I don't know about you, but I am THAT MOM. I plan everything, I prepare, and I organize. I coordinate our outfits with the day (some say this is silly, I enjoy it!) but darn it, I want one good photo to remember my work! It rarely seems to happen...as evidence below. You can't even SEE our shirts!


After Pirates, the answer to our troubles was more food. I actually had planned to leave and have lunch at Poly or GF, as I thought it would be a good break in the day. But we were oh so tired from standing in lines and we didn't really want to WALK all the way to the exit. So we did what every good Disney family does...we got snacks of all shapes and sizes and called it a lunch!

I got my favorite corndog nuggets from Westward Ho...

(RIP Casey's...please come back to me!)



and Jason got the girls churros and pretzels. At some point, we got Dole Whips. We sat in Frontierland and happily ate all our junk while we people watched. Notice how many nails are missing...


We did a few more rides and then finally called it a day...around 2:30. We knew we had another day at MK later in the week or that we might get a wild hair and come back later that evening (spoiler...we didn't!) so it felt ok to leave in the middle of the day. Plus, naps are the best after a busy park morning!

A few hours and a hard nap later, we decided to grab food at Boardwalk and eat near the water. I had originally planned to eat at Disney Springs but I had been reading on the boards how crowded that area is and we just didn't want to risk it with Covid. Up until that point, we felt very safe at the parks with social distancing and mask compliance. I just wasn't sure I would feel the same at DS. I think it was the right choice for us.

We ordered pizza from the takeout window and cookies from the bakery. You can't beat this view!




This girl loves her Mickey-shaped sweets! When she was 8 and missing teeth:




We meandered outside a bit then went inside to get more Christmas decor pics of the lobby.

And just like that, another wonderful Disney day was complete!!

Ok, now I think I have all the bad pictures fixed!! Moving forward to a new day!
