Okay, here it is...Official DIS Convention info!!!!!! (originally a post from the Community Board)

what are the 5 day hopper passes? are they good just for 5 days or for our full stay...which would be 8 nights/7 days (excluded the travel days)? <IMG SRC="/infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif" alt="confused">

M-I-C...see you at The DIS convention, K-E-Y...why? Because we love Disney, M-O-U-S-Eeee...

Tia, I think the $238 is a straight room charge, no need to multiply it per person.

Hi Judy. Just e-mailed you. :) Ed and I just returned from Vegas...didn't win the big jackpot so all of these figures are being calculated very carefully. ;)

Thanks for answer...I have one more. Does it matter how many kids we have in the room?

Oh this is exciting, but for some reason I can't get "a handle on it".

luvdsny, The maximum number of guests per room at the YC is 5, plus one child under age 3 in a crib. Hope that helps!

How about including a PS for the Epcot Candlelight Processional - maybe on Wed. nite? We were there this year and really enjoyed it very much. The only thing that would make it better would be a way around the long line we had to wait in even with our PS that is available to regular park goers who buy the dinner package. :)

If we stay at the All Star Movies,is there transportation to the Y&B....so we can make it to events being held there?? Or will we have to get a cab, or rent a car??

What if 4 adults want to share a room----myself and 3 other friends (going solo). What is the price per person then???

Okay, I'll try and answer as many questions as I can.

1. You must all be patient in terms of a formal schedule. We have a great deal to work out and we are going to take things like MVMCP into account.

2. This is open to ANYONE who wants to attend. No special status is required.

3. Deposits for the initial set of reservations will need to be recieved here by Feb 12th. Anyone who pays a deposit by that date will be guaranteed a spot. The problem is that I'm not sure how many rooms we're going to need, so I need to play it by ear. I think we'll be able to accommodate everyone who wants to attend, but there is a possibility that we may have to cap attendance. As we start taking reservations, I'll let everyone know.

4. You are not required to buy the convention passes in order to attend the events. If you have an annual pass, you can use that, or you can just buy a 1 day park ticket for each event, it's entirely up to you. The convention tickets are park hoppers, but do not include the water parks (only the plus passes include that). The convention passes include access to Disney Quest and Pleasure Island.

5. As far as partial events go. As I mentioned in my initial post, it would be an absolute nightmare for us to try and figure out charges based on each individual element of the convention. Therefore, we can not offer 'partial' event passes at this time. Perhaps as the year progresses and we have a clearer picture of attendance, etc., then we may open up that option, but at this time, I don't see it happening.

6. As far as what the cost will be for various situtions, you will be able to calculate that on Monday, when we release the reservation form. It will allow you to select various options and price them out before making a reservation.

7. To answer Britnys4Me questions: The per person fee applies to any person over the age of 10 (they are considered adults by Disney).
There are no additional discounts on the 4 day convention passes if you don't want or use DQ or PI. It's part of the ticket, not a seperate add on. Deposits must be sent in by Feb 12th in order to secure your place. A second payment will be due in July, and final payment in October. No schedule for any meets has been established at this time, nor has a final schedule of events been planned. The special events for the convention were listed in my initial post.

Thanks,
Pete

Okay, Pete and Linda, nice job! I haven't seen this question asked so here goes:
Since I am DVC and will be staying at OKW, when is my deposit due for events only and how much will that deposit be? I know you're working on the room situation but we could use a date also so we can plan accordingly. Thanks :)

Whenever they call me a dreamer, I think of Walt Disney and smile:)

You mentioned the trundle at Port Orleans and the daybed at Y&BC, can Swan/Dolphin accomodate a family of 5 who are all over the age of 3?

When I go to the DIS Resort descriptions, it would seem the answer is no. But when you search the Resort Board, it would seem that a rollaway is possible.

Just wondering.

This sounds soooooo wonderful. :)

Thank you Pete, Linda, Marsha and anyone else that is working behind the scenes to make this convention a reality. :) You've really worked hard on this and the results look great! :)

I look forward to making our reservation. :)

Hi! The cost of the add on rooms nights is not based per person like the package it is based per night and includes tax, ie. if you stay the Sunday night after the convention there is a total additional cost to your package of $238.65 . However remember that if the room has over 2 adults in it there is an extra adult charge.

As for 5 in a room, the Yacht and Beach offer a daybed (twin size) in some rooms, Port Orleans Riverside (a.k.a. Dixie Landings) offers a youth sized trundle. All resorts offer cribs.

Linda, you're only a few hours away... I don't want to make you so crazy that you drive over and strangle me.... :D

Just to make absolutely sure: Swan/Dolphin is not an option for a 5 of family (all over age 3). Correct-o-mundo???

Swan and Dolpin rooms only hold 4 (plus a baby)and have one king bed or 2 double beds.

Thanks Linda. Did Memphis get much snow? We only got a little. :)

Now I have to go change my comparison thread.

What would be the best "park admission" passes for my family to buy? We'll be there Sunday through Sunday (leaving Monday). :)

Granted we'll be participating in a lot (if not all) of the convention events, but we will still want/need to park-hop in between these events. :D

After calling TDS, it sounds like purchasing a 6-day hopper plus ticket for each of us will be the best...especially since we can purchase the passes with our Disney Club card. With the DC discount an adult 6-day pass is $278.71 and a child 6-day pass is $222.61. :)

Have I answered my own question, or is there a better deal to be had out there? :D :)

If I'm not sure about the roomie thing, would it be best to register as a solo first and then change it later? Thanks,

Barb-for Real!
Been there, done that, GOING BACK!

My family of 5 will stay at the Dolphin during the convention, and we'll have a rollaway in the room (available at an extra charge - usually $25/day). The reservation was made before the DIS convention was announced. However, that option (of a rollaway for the 5th person) simply may not be available during the DIS convention.

If you are a teacher, a government employee, have the Entertainment membership (Disney Club membership suffices) or an AP, you may save money by reserving the Swan/Dolphin on your own.

Brtny: No one is guaranteed a room until the deposit is made. The problem is that there are a finite number of rooms that we can block out for the event. Once we meet our minimum (which I think we'll do very quickly), we must contract for the rooms. At that point, we may be able to add on IF there is availability (and that's a big IF). So, there is a possibility we will be able to accept deposits after the 12th of Feb, but I can not guarantee it. It all depends on how many rooms we book between now and then.

For those who will need other park passes, I'm working on pricing right now for TicketRES. I'm certain that we'll be able to beat the DC price, but I haven't gotten that far yet. I'll post that info when I have it.

Thanks,
Pete
