Once Upon a dream TR: Intimate WP/ Citricos Chef's Domain/ Grand 1/ Tour/ COMPLETE

i thought a turret room was one of those big corner rooms-- lol i had no idea:confused3

Oh -- I could be wrong...maybe it is the corner room. I have no idea myself really. The GF kind of overwhelms me.:confused3 We should ask HeatherLynn :)

We made it to Citricos in time for our 6PM reservation. I was so nervous about booking the Chef’s Domain because I hadn’t been able to find much on it. There were only a few reviews of it and other reviews of Citricos generally weren’t entirely positive.

I should mention for other intimates who are thinking about booking the Chef’s Domain that there are 2 seating times: 6PM and 8:30PM, and I believe Citricos is closed on Mondays. When I tried to make an advance dining reservation I seemed to go through some kind of secret channel. There first CRO person didn’t have a clue what I was talking about. She thought I was asking about the Chef’s Table at Victoria & Albert's. They put me on hold and hung up on me by accident. When I called back and repeated my question the CRO had trouble entering the reservation so she put me on hold. After waiting about 3 minutes another lady picked up. Apparently not every person on the other end of the line has the ability to actually enter the reservation. I wish I could tell you what line I had been put through to, but no one told me and I forgot to ask. I just thought it may be helpful to know you might have to be persistent about the Chef’s Domain.

But don’t worry…it’s worth it!!!!

We were escorted to a room that was enclosed from the rest of the restaurant, and this was nice because the noise level of the busy restaurant was diminished quite a bit. It was nice to have the privacy of the room, and it was a beautiful room all on its own. I didn’t decorate the table, but I’m sure it wouldn’t have been an issue if I had wanted to.

I have to apologize, because right now I don’t have the best pictures. I hope my new SIL has some better ones, and if she does I promise to update the post.

I’ve been trying to keep all my food reviews to my separate thread, but the food at Citricos was so good I have to mention it. Both DH and I had the Sautéed Shrimp with lemon, white wine, tomatoes and feta cheese to start and the Citricos Filet Sicilian for an entrée as recommended by the waiter. It was FANTASTIC! I’ve had a great shrimp before, but this was amazing. The portion was generous with large shrimps and the sauce went excellent with the Foccacia bread that was provided. And I’ve had amazing filet before, but this was the best I’ve ever had. It had an oak flavour to it that complimented the beef perfectly -- it was not overwhelming at all. For dessert DH had the Lemon Cheese cake, which he raved about and compared it to a lemon cloud. And I had the warm chocolate banana tart on our waiter’s recommendation.

When they brought it out the chef had written: “And they lived happily ever after” around the plate. It was almost too pretty to eat.

I did say almost though.

It was also fabulous (way better than my wedding cake).

Our guests ordered a range of meals and everyone loved what they had. Even my brother, who likes his cheese with macaroni and doesn’t like a lot of “fancy schmancy” foods absolutely loved it. It was the perfect place to go to appeal to a wide variety of palates.

The service was phenomenal and it was a treat to have the Chef come in and say hello.

All in all, two thumps WAY up! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

With everyone bursting at the seams, we all bid adieu to our fabulous waiter and headed for the Grand 1.

Next up: wedding day finale - Make a wish, and do what dreamers do….

Gosh-- you had an action packed day!! How exciting. That plate looks beautiful!! What was the disney thing on your DH's dessert plate?

I've just caught up with your trip report and it's wonderful. You look beautiful and so happy. I wish you both all the best, congratulations.

What cake flavour did you choose?

Sorry to bring the subject up again but For Keeps I must say I think keeping your name is so very important. People do it for different reasons and I agree that your name is who you are...I am keeping mine too but to shut the inlaws up a little I am going to hypenate the last names where necessary. My reason is that I am the only daughter of the only son and it was my grandfather's dying wish that our name live on even if its for only one more generation. My hat's off to you. Once again let me tell you how STUNNING YOU WERE. Best wishes

your recaps are awesome! Thank you for sharing. I can't wait to hear about the Grand One!!

Your makeup was beautiful, and you did a great job on your own. You had no need to have someone do it for you! :thumbsup2

How awful that DFTW didn't really prepare you before your wedding. It sounds like they have some work to do as far as intimates go. but yay for Randy! He is going to be my photographer too, and like you I booked him way before everything else! I booked him over a year ago!!

Your dress is gorgeous, and I think your mickey purse matches beautifully!! :)

This was a wonderful TR, it brought tears to my eyes! Congratulations to you both. We are planning to book the chefs domain too, and your experience only makes me more sure we are doing the right thing, Thanks Forkeeps!

Action packed is right -- we just kept going. At one point I was in a semi-jog to get back to Citricos on time. :)

The blue thing is a picture of the YOMD logo and it says "Where Dreams come true". It was actually edible -- it was made out of sugar. But DH didn't eat it -- he'd had enough sugar by then.

Aww...thanks - we chose chocolate cake with chocolate mousse. After hearing how Fairy Tale Bride loved her raspberry mousse so much I thought about changing it but didn't in the end. I still think about that raspberry mousse. I've heard it's wonderful. The cake itself wasn't bad -- it seemed dry, and it didn't seem to be chocolatey enough to me. I mean, I don't mean to sound picky, but I've eatten a lot of chocolate cake in my day and something was just...missing. No worries though, I didn't get a chance to eat any more of the cake anyways :) (there's just too, too, TOO much food when you're on the dining plan ;))

I know what you mean. I mean, your name is the ultimate symbol. I studied semiotics for a while and the professor started the class by having us learn about our name. But as it is a symbol it can stand for many different things. To me keeping my name had a certain significance, as I'm sure it also does for those who change their names. I'm just glad that we have the option to choose, and I married a man who understood why I wanted to keep my name.

Although, my favourite author would argue differently. Something about "but would a rose by another other name not smell as sweet" and all that jazz. And who's to argue what good 'ol Shakes himself.

I'll spare everyone on the years of language theory that comprises one of my reasons not to change my name ;)

Oh thanks so much -- but I have to admit I would have been a train wreck without those lessons. I went into the place with 1 brush, concealer, and 2 colours of eyeshadow. They whipped me into shape -- and I had to practice it to make sure I could do it for the big day. :goodvibes

I'm so glad you got Randy. What can I say, I'm totally a Randy fan. Rest easy, you're not only in good hands, you're in the best.

Oh I'm so glad -- I was really hoping that the information on the Chef's Domain would help another bride. It was the part of the wedding I was most nervous about. I just love food -- and if the food was bad it would have been disappointing. I'm so excited for you!

I think it's great that your keeping your name too. I am currently debating that issue with myself. I have publications, and will have my Master's, and just do not know what to do. I have a very difficult last name and DF has a very easy one, and I just assumed I'd be so happy to get rid of my last name, but I am not at all. I feel like I'd lose a part of myself if I took his last name. I am not sure if that made any sense!

I'm glad you liked the Chef's Domain. It looks really nice in the pictures! Once again, you look so beautiful and so happy together, congrats

You both look so happy, and I love your dress!

It's funny from reading yours and other disbrides' TR's I feel more confident in Randy as a wedding coordinator, than I do the actual one!!

It's quite the decision. I do know what you mean! There's so much that goes into it. It gets really tricky when you have publications etc., career-wise. Best of luck with your decision.

I'm glad -- that's exactly what I wanted to communicate -- I had...well...not the best WC experience  But I instantly felt like everything was going to be ok when I saw how Randy juut knew what was going to happen. And that's not to mention his awesome photography skills (have I mentioned those? :thumbsup2) Boy was that ever the best decision I ever made with respect to the wedding.

I mentioned before that I couldn’t really decide which one of the night time shows I like best: Wishes, Illuminations, or Fantasmic. They’re all pretty great in their own ways. But there’s just something about that music.

Starlight, star bright, first start I see tonight…

It makes you tingle from the top of your head to the tips of your toes.

I wish I may, I wish I might, have the wish, I wish tonight…

It makes me stand a little bit taller, and my eyes sparkle a bit more bright.

We’ll make a wish, and do as dreamers do,

It just makes you burst with hopes and dreams....

We’ll make a wish, and do as dreamers do,
And all our wishes,
Will come true.

And so it’s that feeling that tips the scale for wishes. It’s officially my favourite.

The day had been unseasonably warm (80 degrees) and so the night on the water was as comfortable as a lukewarm bath. Now, it’s interesting to know that the Grand 1 has a bit of a “right of way” thing happening. Meaning, the other pontoon boats are supposed to defer to the path of the Grand 1. I felt a little guilty, but the Captain assured me that we wouldn’t be blocking anyone’s view because, as he put it, the fireworks were “up”. He encouraged DH and I to enjoy the show from the bow of the boat. He said it would provide an excellent photo op.

It also provided some nice alone time with DH. Well…as alone as you can get on a boat with 9 other people :)
100_3993-1.jpg

I don’t think there’s a way I can possibly describe the way I felt during the show. It was one of those truly great moments that you just don’t experience all that often. It was one of those moments that you savour as they happen because you know that for years to come you’ll want to remember every detail. It was one of those moments I’ll just never forget.

And so because there’s just no possible way for me to describe that moment, I’d like to share a bit of it with you. Turn on those speakers and click on the image below.

When Wishes finished DH and I climbed back into the main part of the yacht and spent time with our family.
100_3999.jpg

The Capitan took us around Bay Lake and caught the Electric Water Pageant at WL. He showed us the very cool water bridge and after about 40 minutes took as back to the GF.

Now everyone was a bit curious as to what our GF room looked like…so we invited everyone up. Our whole wedding fit in the 1 elevator! We didn’t mind one bit because we’d be interested in knowing what one of those posh rooms looked like too.

As we opened the room DH said, “Hey, what’s this?” There was a gift basket with wine and wine glasses and a note. It was from out friends in Ottawa! We were just dumbfounded. How lucky were we to have such great friends! :yay:

After everyone in turn went out to the balcony to see the castle all lit up it was time to say goodnight.
DisneyWeddingTrip401.jpg

With just the two of us left we spent some time on the balcony admiring the water and the castle and truly enjoying the moment.

We’ll make a wish, and do as dreamers do,
And all our wishes,
Will come true.

Next up: Day 1 as husband and wife - Let’s get this party started.

Love your TR so far! Thanks for the video and congrats!

Congratulations from a fellow canadian!! What a great TR!!

Can I ask a question....is there anything special you need to do to "register" your marriage here in Ontario?

I know exactly how you feel about Wishes...it just makes you want to tear up a lil bit, lol! ;)

I love your trip report. What a amazing day you had!

Love your TR so far! Thanks for the video and congrats!

Thanks guys, it was such a great day. Since I wasn't having a formal at home reception the idea was to stay in that dress as long as possible. I think I managed to do just that :yay:

Congratulations from a fellow canadian!! What a great TR!!

Can I ask a question....is there anything special you need to do to "register" your marriage here in Ontario?

That's a good question -- I asked Tchan the same thing. Consensus from Ontario brides is that you don't have to do anything. I think I may call up Vital Stats just to make sure.

I know exactly how you feel about Wishes...it just makes you want to tear up a lil bit, lol! ;)

It's so awesome -- I get the same feeling watching the video.

everything was so beautiful-- i teared up when u were quoting wishes. So sweet--- aww-- you all are the best. MORE MORE!! Congrats

Thanks for the info about the cake, my Fiance wants the Chocolate cake with the chocolate mousse too.

We are going to do a wishes cruise too, as I read your intro the hairs on my arms were standing up and then I watched the video, all I can say is wow! It looks amazing, my fiance walked in whilst I was watching it and said "are you crying" lol, yes I was crying but out of shear joy. It was so touching to see you both at the front watching and having a little kiss.

How far in advance can you book the cruise?

I can't wait to go now
Only 10 months and counting

I was rushed earlier when I read your last post. I didnt get to watch the wishes video because I assumed it was just a regular video of wishes, nothing that you actually were a part of. Boy was I wrong, and I sure am glad I watched it!! I cannot begin to explain how jealous I am right now that you got to do that. I wished that DH and I had dont something like that the night of our wedding. Truely amazing. While we did get our own private cruise to watch the electrical light parade-- im sure that cannot compare to seeing wishes, in your dress, beside the man that you love. :cloud9: You truely were a part of a fairy tale!! It was so sweet whenever you both would lean over and just shortly embrace one another with a kiss-- soo cute! I really liked how everything wasnt so perfect and clear-- its kind of like when Randy does his photography and focuses in on some things and it leaves others somewhat blurred. The video seemed artistic in a way!! KEEP THAT FOREVER! SO sweet...
