Something new for 2002

Everybody is assuming that this new attraction will take the space of an existing ride/attraction.
Screamscape.com mentions that a new attraction will be built in that "unused" space between/behind MIB and BTTF.
Earl, Any chance that you can at least debunk that part of the rumor?

Earl, our main man... are any of us close to guessing the mystery attraction?

How about we narrow things down a little bit. Will it use wheels as a means of transportation?

They will definatly be digging a large hole (250 feet to be exact) in the floor of the old Herc and Zena building. In this hole they will install a massive 275 foot Space Shot tower. The building will be completely dark, and as you repeatedly shoot up and down you will be required to shoot funny looking alien creatures that shoot back at you. After three or for times through this process you will exit the tower and be led to another room (part of the HUGE Herc and Zena building) where you will be treated to a recreation of the old Ghostbusters show. After the Ghostbusters show you will board a sleigh and sled down a 200 foot hill with the Grinch, right out the exit door( don't ask how you got 200 feet in the air to begin with- call it Universal magic). What a great ride Universal has come up with. Definatly an excellent way to utilize the building. Note to onsite guests: This ride will have extensive wait times of approximatly 5-10 minutes during the peak season. Remember however, you are entitled to semi-unlimited FOTL access all day, every day (You will wait 15 minutes or less- a big time savings). One ride per guest only please. If you'd like more rides with no wait, please throw a big fit at both guest services and the USF-Info boards stating that you were mis-lead by false advertisement. When exiting through the gift shop, please be sure to check out the concept model of the new 300 foot giga-coaster to be installed between MiB and BTTF at the request of nearby neighborhoods.

Don't fear- Screamscape may confirm this story in the next week or so, making these plans set in stone.

Jim

Aloha Jim,

They must have changed the plans. I thought that the ride was going to include passing through Earl's office where he would whisper secrets to us.???? ;)

Donna

No No No Donna,

It was going to catapult you into his office and then he would preform a much better show than the makeup show, telling you all kinds of secrets and showing you plans for the new attraction. He will even disclose the new profile #!

But alas after the show (which is better than the makeup show) he will then flash you with one of those MIB things and you won't remember a thing. You will believe you just saw the old Ghostbuster or Xena show.

So we know that Universal will be getting a new attraction in 2002. Now what about Islands of Adventure.

Something goes out... Something goes in.. New Attraction in 2002.

Earl told us about the Kong replacement way back in January. Way to go Early!!

If this new attraction will appear in the "middle of next year", and if it was going to be where Boneyard is now, then it seems only logical we'd see signs of construction by now.

Also, Earl said that "something goes out, something comes in." Now if that means in the same location then whatever is there now will have to be dismantled before the new attraction could be built. That suggests to me that if a major attraction is being replaced we'd see signs of work by now. Since we don't see signs of work, then we can conclude that either the switch is something super simple (doing away with Blues Brothers and bringing back Rocky & Bullwinkle) or it will happen to an attraction that can be replaced quickly (Hitch, Beetlejuice, or Makeup).

Of course, if the attraction coming in won't be in the same location as the attraction going out, then all bets are off. For all we know, the new attraction could be being built even as we speak in the old Herc & Zena theater and when the time comes the "old" attraction will just be shuttered.

That's as far as my cool, logical deduction takes me. OTOH, I almost flunked logic in college.

"something goes out, something comes in."
Could something be going on in the vacant buildings of attractions that have been retired?
Is something happening in Herc & Xena's old building?
If so, maybe something comes in and then something goes out.
It makes sense that an attraction takes time to construct(or reconstruct on site) and maybe we assume that both will happen at the same location.
We Assume that the new attraction will take the place of Kong, but maybe the new 2002 attraction opens elsewhere and Kong just closes in 2002 to make room for a Future addition.
We also assume that the rumored attractions that might take the place of Kong(Scorpian King, Indoor Dark Coaster, etc.) are the 2002 attraction that Earl is talking about. Maybe Kong's replacement occurs in 2003 or even 2004.
It would also make sense that Universal would alternate attractions added between the two parks. Maybe IOA gets the 2003 attraction, Universal the 2004, and so on. The removal of Kong and then adding a new a rumored attraction like Scorpian King, Indoor Dark Coaster, etc. would take time to construct (or reconstruct on site).
