The hut was plain, but surrounded by the most beautiful garden...

petunias, zinas, geraniums, foxglove, clover, daffodils grew abundantly...but no roses.

He vowed there would never be roses.

roses were on the wedding trellis under which he shared vows with a woman training for the Olympics.

Her veil caught on the thorns, and was shredded before the vows were finished.

The lace lacerated her right eye and she could no longer aim correctly to lead her team.

So, she changed her approach.

It is all about the breathing in her skill set so she made plans to improve her aerobic ability, an approach her coach wanted her to work on but she was always busy.

So now she climbed hills and ran, and she was hardly ever back at the hut with the beautiful garden and her dear husband.

her husband did not mind tending to the lichen garden around the Silcox hut. He had reserved it for her, knowing that Mt. Hood would offer great views and award her exercise, after all, he had encouraged her to leave the hut in the forest, with its summer blooming flowers.....he had found sponsorship for her Olympic training and a once in the life time opportunity.

So, she ran and ran!

run she did....the forest that she trained below the Silcox hut were on fire....was the hut that belonged to the old man safe...and was he back from his trip and trapped by the fire?

But, alas! He escaped just in time .....

and they both were safe, and had to make new plans. What to do??

Find a good beach in Puerto Rico that the dog can run on and chase gulls eating the leftover gills from the days catch of the fisherman. The resort on Toad Road has a good view of the fleet, men weaing hats of all sorts, including a Christmas hat.. The old man's memory was not huanted, for the roses don't grow well in the middle of the ocean. nor do vegetables, so stalks of celery are mainstay for green healthy eating, unlike the rich garden he once tended. But his wife was happy, memories only of the valley in Xena where they drank ale made from the harvest of the continent. Shall it be enough???

Maybe it will be enough , US congress has adjorned and once again Puetro rico is on the table to become #51...can he escape the sound of crisp flag flying in the neighborhood?

Meanwhile, she trains on the beaches, and he fishes, and they have found kelp to their liking.

....commercializing their aerobic beach walks, filling baskets heavy with kelp, sending jars world wide....to even a small table vendor selling sea products of healthy attributes at the Yuma Farmers market sold by a Quechan woman who knows the struggle of .......
