Upcharge Express Transportation

I think it's Awful!
Awful that it's Another UPcharge for the transportation that is clearly "part of" ur staying ON property.
So instead of Fixing the transportation back ups that folks talk about All the time.
Perhaps More Buses are needed.. Shorter Routes, an Actual Scheduled route... like every 30 minutes...
But Disney once again decides people are complaining.. so let's UP the ante...
They ll pay even More Money and we ll gimmick it out as "shorter" time on the bus..
I'll say it again AWFUL , just plain
Bleeding people Dry...
Get your Nickels and Dimes ready folks... hope you got Lots of them...

We were escorted off Splash Mountain once because of a breakdown and seen the service area behind it. I did think it was cool to see, but that's me. Really need to do a behind the scenes tour someday lol.
The tours are great...I did one as a perk for a class my DS took years back. We both enjoyed it!

My view on this all depends on whether Disney pulls back/decreases the other buses to implement this. I get this specific thing hasn't been offered before, so you are paying for something you couldn't have gotten before. But, if Disney takes a certain percentage of buses or drivers from the "free" buses, then this new service sucks.

And because it will be hard for us regular folk to really know if fewer buses are in free service, I'm pretty skeptical.

Not a fan of taking guests backstage like this (yes, I know they already do the Main Street bypass - that's a head-scratcher to me, too). Disney sure is changing...

Nice and concise. I would hope they don't, but wouldn't be surprised if they do.

I'm not a fan of "walt wouldn't like it"

Because it's a bit revisionist. The guy wasn't perfect. He liked money ALOT and would have probably bankrupted disney in the 70's had he lived...

But...no way in hell would you have been allowed to shuttle people through service areas or run a taxi service to circumvent über...

Nope

This proposition takes a total of 12 buses to pull it off. 12 out of a fleet currently at about 450.

That is over 100 more buses than when I was driving with only one additional resort added. We kept up with the demand with only those 325 which included things like special shuttles for the Children's Miracle Golf tournament, Night of Joy, Grad Night, etc. The number of buses won't cause free guests to wait but the number of drivers could very well do it. You would need approximately 18 drivers for 8-12 hours.

Oh I agree. When people are all "what would Walt do!!!" I'm just...look, dude was a genius but 1. He wanted To make money and 2. It sounds crass, but he's been gone for a long time. Times have changed.

So maybe that means theming and show don't matter as much anymore? That's what charges like this signify to me. :(

I agree with you guys. The whole "What Would Walt Do" sentiment is kind of a moot point. If Walt was still alive, the Walt Disney World Resort we know today would not exist. Magic Kingdom would be there, his vision of EPCOT would be there. There would probably be a Ski Resort somewhere. Also that Disney's America thing would probably happen. Who knows about international parks.

"What Would Walt Do" is kind of apples to oranges.

Amen.

Seems iffy to me it even started today. I cant find any announcement of the service from Disney saying "Come buy this add on"
To make it profitable folks need to know about it..and not just the Disney Geek population...yes I mean us :)

Are there any reports on how this service was? It was supposed to start yesterday I believe. I have found out that AP holders can by the $24 consecutive day amount for up to 7 days. Now I am considering it again.

Yes, there is a report on TPAS. AP holders can buy $24 for up to 7 days. However the max for all guests is 7 days. Those 7 days do not have to be consecutive though. Lets say your trip is 10 days long. You can pick and choose which 7 days out of the 10 you want to use the service for.
