The cast:
Me, Sue-39, trip planner, Disney World lover, commando park tourer.
Bob-39, closet Disney World lover, commando park tourer except when Sue is in charge...
Abby-5, Monorail lover, could skip the parks and just ride this all day...
Helm, Donna, Chris (13) and Shannon (5) Erin (1 &1/2)- friends we invited to stay with us for the week. Totally clueless and uninterested at the onset of this trip, are now Disney addicted and can't wait to go back.
Setting: WDW, stayed in a 3 bedroom Premier vacation home, 15 minutes from the Magic Kingdom.
DAY 1, Friday December 1.-- Our plane wasn't leaving until 6pm, so I had the whole day to finish packing, clean the house, and decorate. Instead of doing any of those things I spent most the day glued to the DIS. Go figure.
We had a smooth flight down, no delays and got into MCO at 11:45pm. The line at national was LONG! I waited about 20 minutes before I got up to the counter. I handed the woman my printed copy with the reservation number it. I got a great internet deal on a full size for $122 total for the week. (Thanks Gail!) After typing for an eternity she said, that will be $399.46! I said, um, no, I believe it was $122. She said, um, no, its $399.46. We went back and forth like this a few times and then I asked to speak to her manager. Then she punched in a few numbers and my rate magically popped up on the screen. Fancy that! We picked out a Buick Regal. It had a leather interior, was plenty big, and we were very happy with it.
By this time it was almost 1am and we were so wiped out! Of course Bob missed the exit for 528 west and we ended up on International drive and were lost for about 30 minutes. Man, You really could feel the love in the car at that point... I insisted we pull over at a gas station so I could get directions. We finally pulled in the driveway at 1:45 am.
Helm and Donna had arrived earlier in the day and everyone was asleep except Helm. He couldn't get over how nice the house was and kept thanking me. It was really beautiful, but I was so tired I couldn't even appreciate it. Off to bed we went.
Stay tuned for DAY 2- Too sick to get out of bed, Abbys whining reaches a feverish pitch, and Bob says: "you call this vacation?!" (don't worry, it does get better, at least for a day or so anyway!)
