Well are we going to be charged to park with DVC?

Per another site:

  • Deluxe Resorts $25/night
  • Moderate Resorts: $19/night
  • Value Resorts: $13/night
The first 30 minutes will be free. $5/hr after that up to a max of $30.

I trust Drusba more than rumors. DVC maybe will sell it as a membership perk, but all members will get it as parking upkeep is paid with our MF.

What about DVC members going to a different resort for a meal and spending a couple hours there. Wonder if they will have to pay, since they're not staying there on points?

According to the rumor, no one will pay to visit a resort for dining. Only overnight parking will be paid.

As someone who passed ROFR last week and is waiting to close, this development is very upsetting. I know...buyer beware, but for people in the midst of the process while they are announcing significant changes it feels like a bait and switch.

But as so many here have said, this is paid for by your MF.

They aren't changing anything.

Disney continues to be one of the greediest companies around. DVC or not, they will change policies and do what makes them the most money. If they make more money changing DVC for parking, they will announce how wonderful they are and that they are reducing our dues by removing the parking cost from the dues budget. So sad that they have caused our family and others to start vacationing elsewhere.

We like to drive over to other resorts for their food court, and at AKL, we linger to see the animals. Also, we have reservations at a couple resort TS restaurants on our upcoming trip. Just in case this rumor is true, I guess we'll cancel our TS and plan to NOT go to other resorts for CS. No reason to add another $10 or so to Disney's already high food costs.

Does this mean then that they are going to have working barriers into DVC parking lots? We stayed at the GF villas in November and anyone could just drive into the parking lot which is set aside for DVC. :confused3

According to the stated policy, day guests will not have to pay for parking - only overnight guests. So you can still enjoy meals at other resorts without paying for parking.

First class members or dirty resale owners as well? Ugh. The article says "as part of a new membership perk."

If druba is right (and she's an attorney who has read the contracts, I'd put my money on her being right), then its part of the deed, not a membership perk, and can't be taken away from resale owners any more than using the chairs in the lobby or swimming in the pool can be.

But they could charge you for parking for dining or resort hopping or if you are not using your points..

Still unclear about what this means for DVC resale "members". Beginning to have some buyers remorse. :(

Note the word "select" - that's going to cover a lot of wiggle room - I suspect particularly at BWV and the MK resorts.

It seems to me that this is very much in line with WDW's attempt to push returning guests toward DVC. They haven't opened a deluxe resort since AKL, but they're adding more DVC capacity almost annually, even at the cost of removing resort hotel capacity (at WL and CBR). Now they'll be able to market parking as one more way that you can save by buying DVC vs. staying in a regular resort hotel.
