Which would you do?

We'll be going to GFV in May for an adults only trip to celebrate our anniversary. We want to take the time to really enjoy the resort as we may never be able to easily go back, and it's kind of pricey for us points wise. So I booked us a reservation at Victoria and Albert's, my husband was on board until he saw the prices and started thinking about all the other things he could do with the money instead. I suggested we could do the African Jungle Trek at animal kingdom instead, and that was much more palatable to him. Sooo, just out of curiosity, if you were faced with the same choices, Victoria and Albert's or the African Jungle Trek, which would you choose and why?

We are also planning an adult only anniversary trip at GFV, but in June!

If we can, I think we are going to do Victoria and Albert's. I've always wanted to try that sort of dining experience and we would get a chance to do it with the two of us. We'd also love to do the African Jungle Trek, but will probably wait to do that on another trip with our daughter so she can experience it as well. :)

The African Jungle Trek. Your DH has already decided that Victoris and Albert's is not worth the price. Not sure if that decision would change. You both like the African Jungle Trek idea.

Myself I would love to do the African Jungle Trek. What a memorable experience. The V & A is just not my thing.

That's one reason why I sort of lean away from the Jungle Trek, it looks cool, but my son would love it too someday.

The V & A thing is not typically our thing either, but then again we've NEVER eaten a meal like that. What if we love it, we've never tried it, so we really don't know, it would be a completely new experience for us. Also, hubby is truly on the fence. Well maybe slightly falling off the fence, but still on it regardless.

I've done both V&A and Wild Africa Trek and I would do V&A. Because you're celebrating your anniversary, it would be something different to do.

I did the 7 course meal for my birthday and I had a great time! V&A calls you ahead of time to see if you have any allergies or need a specific menu. I ate in the regular dining room, but you can also eat in the Queen Victoria's room or Chef's Table. A sample of the menus are online at Allears.net.

I did Wild Africa Trek during the summer and it was definitely hot! What I enjoyed about it was being up close with the animals(overhead) and having a specialist tell us about them and answer any questions. You also have a light African meal in the middle of the tour. Not everyone liked the food they had, but everybody was able to find something in their tin to eat. You're also walking on a pseudo trail in the woods so wear close toed shoes. The only part I didn't like as much was the rope bridge over the crocodiles. The rope bridge is way up in the air(you're attached to a cable so you can't fall but if you're afraid of heights it's something to consider), but the boards you are walking across are spaced at different intervals so that people with shorter gaits will need to, at times, stretch a little to get to the next board (think the theming of a dilapidated rope bridge). The bridge also sways a little. Other than that, it was something I wanted to do once, but probably won't do again. On the other hand, V&A is something I will do again!

I would do Victoria and Albert's because we are foodies and it seems like a perfect anniversary fit. You mention that you could see doing the Trek with your son when he's older, so you would still have that to look forward to.

I have never done the V&A or Wild Animal Trek, but I think I would rather do the Wild Animal tour.

We are not "foodies"...but I love Animals and could stare at those for hours.

I know my husband would have a hard time justifying money for the "experience" of a meal, but would have no issue justifying the cost of the "experience" of a tour.

I would like to experience V&A, but know that my husband would be tolerating the cost, because he would do it for me. He would enjoy as would I the animal tour.

It is your anniversary, think of what both of you would enjoy and do it!

Are you married to a husband named Grizzly? Sounds like we married the same guy.

I definitely would do the Wild Africa Trek (again). My husband has done it twice and my son, daughter in law and I did it with him a second time. It was wonderful.
I like a special restaurant experience and I love good food. But I have trouble justifying the cost of Victoria and Albert's.
If your husband is feeling that way I would worry that he will not enjoy himself.
Good Luck in your decision.

Depends on what you truly enjoy. If you are into food and the eating experience, V&A would be a good choice. If V&A is too over the top you could eat at another signature restaurant(s). I would keep the trek for a family stay.

I know it depends on what we like. :) I was just wondering what everyone else would do facing the same decision. More just a question for conversion than to help us decide.

May in FL = HOT !! No thanks to an animal trek. V&A is not something that my DH & I would normally do but I definitely would love to try it especially on an adults only getaway. I think it is one of those things you have to at least experience once. Have fun doing whatever you decide.

V&A is a food experience. The service is like a well choreographed play, the meal was small, numerous samplings of FANTASTIC food. I am not a particular person when it comes to a meal ( have been known to enjoy truck-stop meals the best), but I truly LOVE V&As. The also have a knack to make you feel welcome!

I love this review! My husband laughed at me this year when he asked me where I wanted to go for my birthday dinner and I told him a taco food truck.

I think I would do V and A. I'm an animal lover as well as a food lover. The African Trek I'm sure would be fun however, you get quite a bit of animal exposure at the resort itself if you are staying there, or visiting the resort. End the end either one would be great.

Another vote for V&A. A great dinner is art and entertainment in itself. We haven't done that one yet, but one of these years...

We have done VA a few times, both in the main room and once in the Queen's room. Hopefully we will snag the chef's table one of these times. We have also done Wild Africa Trek twice. Both are great experiences. If I were faced with the choice for an anniversary celebration I would go with VA. This is coming from someone who loves animals, has African Safari with ABD on her bucket list and favorite resort is AKV.

This is really such a personal choice. We've done VA. Very nice, very pricey. As much as we appreciate really, really good food, in the end, food is food. We loved the Wild Africa Trek. The actual trek, the pictures we took, the beautiful animals closeup, the food served, the overall tour...for us it far outweighed food and only food. Again...personal choice. If you love cooking and wonderful restaurants, go for it. We are more eat to live than live to eat people so Wild Africa would be our choice.

which of the two options is the one that you will most likely not ever do if not on this trip? (from your post, it appears to be V&A).

since you know you'll be going to WDW again, i would opt for the one that makes this vacation most special, and different from any other.

enjoy your decision :)
