This was our cake at Capt. Jack's restaurant at Downtown Disney. It was arranged through the YC conceirge. It was 10 inches with a buttercream layer featuring a personalized birthday message and Minnie and Daisy shopping. It was $70, fabulously delicous and managed to feed a party of 17.

Is there a thread with categorized cake pictures- i.e. by restaurant or resort? I am interested in getting a cake delivered to our room at SSR, but I didn't know if that was possible. If not, I will try and make alternate plans for one of the restaurants we are eating at.

If not, and anyone has any experience ordering cakes from SSR could you send me some info?

Thanks everyone!!

To order the chocolate slipper dessert at CRT- what is the number- not sure if I have to call the Cake hotline or the regular dining reservation number?

No other thread than this one, but a couple people have managed to get BoardWalk Bakery cakes delivered to Artist's Palette for pickup by working with the restaurant. Call the Cake Hotline and follow prompts for SSR and AP to leave a voicemail. The person I talked to there a few months ago was really helpful.

I've been lurking around the cake threads for a while. I know during one of my late night marathon looking sessions I'm certain I found a list of cake & filling flavors. I can't remember where I saw it. <--it was reeeaaally late... LOL! Does anyone know where I might have seen this? TIA!

OK, after weeks of deliberation, I've decided to go with a Cowboy Needs a Horse theme for our next cake! I'm concerned that the obscurity of the theme will be lost, though. I'm sure it won't be, but the worst-case-scenario-brain that I have forces me to think this way!

Now I have to decide, do I want this cake to be made by the Boardwalk Bakery, and pick it up after a day at DHS? Or, do I want to cancel my dinner reservation at Mama Melrose and reschedule at The Wave or Chef Mickeys?

Thoughts, anyone?

Ok, so I've decided to order a cake for DS7's bday celebration. Two questions though:

1) Does anyone have any experience with the allergy free cakes? ie: Can they be customized? (DD has a peanut only allergy but DS doesn't..I'd like her to be able to have a bit)

2) We have three choices for location. Which would you choose?
a) Ohana's Breakfast (not sure about cake at 8am)
b) hotel room during afternoon break (staying at GF ... but I think DS would like the 'show' of having a cake in public)
c) Crystal Palace dinner (I've heard resort cakes are better...)

Oh, question #3, has anyone had a bday cupcake at Ohana's lately? DH had one years ago but I'm not sure if htye're still doing it.

Thanks!

casperjj 11,

I was quoted $29 for a 6in allergy free cake in chocolate w/ chocolate icing, or vanilla with vanilla icing for CRT. I think it would be the same for CP. I don't think they can really customize much, but I plan on asking again. I wanted one that was just dairy free, but this is dairy, gluten, and I think peanut free. This is what I received in an email,

"We do offer celebration cakes for Guests with food allergies at our Table Service locations. The six inch cake comes in vanilla or chocolate and is prepared from a mix provided by Namaste Foods. If you are interested in ordering one and for pricing, please call the Cake Hotline at: 407-827-2253 at least seven days in advance."

LOL. That's the same wording that I got. :lmao: See, the way I figure it, if its not a premade cake, and they have to make it anyway, they should be able to custom design it... I haven't spoken with anyone though. Even if its a chocolate topper or something... DD wouldnt' eat that anyway.

Ok, Question #4 :goodvibes, does anyone have a picture of the allergy free cake? How is it decorated if not custom made? If its really cute, I may just go with it anyway but if its just a simple round chocolate cake, probably not.

We are going in Oct and then in Jan. I would like to order a cake for Jan. I hear some can get 6 in cutstom and some can't. We are staying at BCV could order from BW. I want a red cake that says BonVoyage with yellow trim. With Mickey icons on it.

So I have read two posts where people got cakes from mods... One from CBR and one from POR. Can someone give me some insight on how this worked? Did you call the resort? Cake hotline? And what were your options? Dana

So I'm a long time lurker who never had an even coincide with a trip to order a cake for. I've been pining away and am so excited to order my first cake for our upcoming trip!

So, on to the important stuff, who makes a better cake? Just trying to get my ducks in a row with ADRs for our Sept trip. I want to order a cake for our anniversary.

We have reservations at CM, although I'd prefer to not do it there. We're staying at BLT, can they deliver a cake to the room from the Contemporary bakery?

We also have reservations at Citricos which I'm a little apprehensive about with an almost 2 year old. We had a GFC ressie that I canceled, menu didn't appeal to me.

Now, more importantly. Do I just do a mini-wedding cake to keep the cost down or do I go for a more fun cake? DH loves Star Wars so I was thinking of doing a Micky & Minnie as Han Solo & Leia cake. My budget for the whole meal is about $250.

Is there a difference between the 2 bakeries on which size they'll customize? It's just the 3 of us, I don't think we'd even come close to eating a whole 10" cake.

Thanks!

For the poster who was wondering is she could have a cake delivered to SSR from the Boardwalk bakery; I am picking up a cake at Olivia's for my in room birthday celebration. I called the cake hotline, followed the prompts for OKW and someone called me back with an email address. There is no problem having them make the cake there and I get it at the podium at Olivia's. Perhaps you'll have similar luck at Turf Bar and Grill or Artist Pallette?

Has anyone ever ordered a Phineas and Ferb cake? My DH thinks that show is great and would love to do something with Doofenshmirtz for his b-day cake. I would be ordering it from the Contemporary.

Just made the call to Private dining at the contemporary for a cake for our upcoming trip. Sent over an email just waiting for a response :cool1:!!!! I'm so excited about the whole process it just makes our trip feel that much closer. BTW the gentleman who I spoke with in private dining recommended coming to disboards to check out the cake chatter thread to see if I saw anything that I liked - I thought that was so COOL!!!!
