Where are we all eating?

I have too many ADR's and need to work out which to cancel.

23 Sep - Dinner - Chef Mickey (not sure about this one)

24 Sep - Breakfast - CRT, Dinner - Liberty Tree Tavern

25 Sep - Lunch - Teppen Edo, Dinner - Rose & Crown

26 Sep - Breakfast - Hollywood & Vine, Dinner - 50's

27 Sep - Breakfast - Tusker House, Dinner - Ohana

28 Sep - No ADR's. Thinking of getting takeout from Trails to Go, then watching the Chip n Dale campfire singalong, and if it is not too late, the outdoor movie.

29 Sep - Dinner - Garden Grill

30 Sep - Breakfast - Crystal Palace, Dinner - Tony's (not sure about this either)

1 Oct - Dinner - Whispering Canyon (another ??)

2 Oct - No ADR's - Kids are doing a pirate cruise in the morning, DD and I are going to MNSSHP that night.

3 Oct - Breakfast - Akershus (probably cancel as we did not like it much last time, but it was DD's request. Hopefully she will be happy with CRT). Dinner - Hoop De Doo Review

4 Oct - Lunch - Sci Fi, Dinner - 1900 Park Fare

5 Oct - Our last day, so will be using up any leftover credits.

Anyone done ohana's???

I did it back in 2004 - I honestly can't remember the food (though I'm sure it was very nice) but I will never ever forget the experience of watching the fireworks out the window with the music playing through the restaurant - that was incredible, no fireworks display I've ever seen since has even come close!

Jade+3, I have added an ADR at the Whispering Canyon Cafe for Saturday 1st October at 6.45pm.

We will already have eaten there twice on our trip, once on the first night (we are staying at Wilderness Lodge - so this makes it easy to have an early night). Then again in the middle of the trip with our friends from Australia - it will be their first night in WDW.

So, I'm not really sure that we will eat there - but we will have been at Kennedy Space Centre all day and I was looking for another easy dinner - could end up going to Roaring Forks for a quick CS though - I sense that we will need that dinner to be a calm one after such a big day! :upsidedow

Still - might see you there!! :goodvibes

Busy Busy, our ADR is at 6.20pm. I might see you elsewhere, as Sat 1 Oct is currently our KSC day too. We weren't sure if we would keep the ADR, or grab something for dinner on the way home from KSC. I guess it depends what time we leave, and how grumpy the kids are.

I am unsure how many you need to cut so I will rank them, with 1 being my top recommendation to cancel: -

1. Tony's (MK has pretty good QS meals and snack selections available around the park)
2. 50's/Sci Fi (definately not worth doing both)
3. Ohana (the service is not great)
4. Chef Mickey's/Hollywood & Vine (1900 Park Fare/Cape May Cafe breakfasts are better for characters, atmosphere and food unless you want/need those specific characters)

Have a great time.

Im not booking too many meals, but I am looking into what places are the best to eat for QS. I have booked Cheif mickeys and 1900 Park Fare for charaters. I might add one more charater meal. Not use yet. I hate being stressed about booking to turn up to.

A question to anybody - I have a breakfast ADR at Chef Mickey's, it's at the end of our time in WDW and we will have already done just about every character meal that there is. I have also read some pretty dodgy reviews, so I am very unsure about it.

I dont think there is any good reviews on charater meals. I almost wet myself with the prices at Crystal palace. My 3 year old is lucky to have 3 mouthfuls for his meals. Crystal palace.... PASS. lol. I think Tara would enjoy the fireworks at Crystal palace. I would rather buy a heep of glowing and light up stuff here, and watch the fireworks with her out the front.

Last year we did two character meals - tusker house for breakfast and park faire for dinner. We all decided that it was awkward waiting for the characters at the table. When they arrived there was noting to do but take a photo, wave and get a hug. Even my 6 year old voted "lame" and we are accordingly not booking any character meals this year. The food was fine so I would not avoid any of those two venues, I just would not fall over to get to character meals unless you child REALLY likes a particular character.

Thanks for the input DVC. Chef Mickey and Tony's are the two that are most likely to go. Unfortunately DS picked H&V, I should never have told him Oso was there. We have 12 dining credits, but will be paying for CRT and HDDR, and probably a couple more.

Jade+3 - we are paying for HDDR & CRT too. We have actually already paid for HDDR because when I booked it on the Internet I couldn't figure out how to use the dining plan - so I just put the credit card details in & now that's one less thing to pay for! :cool2:

All my ADR's are linked to the dining plan, but I think I needed my credit card to guarantee them. What I would prefer to do is pay OOP for DH and me, but use the 2 credits for the kids. Some of the TS kids meals are around $9, so we should pay OOP for those instead of using credits. Not sure if we can actually do that though.

I plan on getting rid of my ADR at Chef Mickey's on Friday 30th September at 8.50am. It is for 4 people.

I will cancel it this weekend at some stage, so if anybody wants to try to grab it we can work out a time for me to cancel and you can cross your fingers and be waiting to pounce! :goodvibes

Hi Jade -my understanding is you can choose which meals you pay OOP and which for dining plan. Just let the server know, for exampl, "DH and & I are paying Cash and the kids are using dining plan" or vice versa. What ever works best for you.

That's what I was hoping Kylie. I need to have a look at the prices on allears to see which is the best way to go. So much to do, and so little time.

Splitting it up and usuing some of the credits as well as paying out of pocket at the same meal is a good idea - I hadn't thought about it. So, I'll be on Allears tonight too working a few things out. I think that spending that bit of time now will mean that I will be spending more $$$ on shopping later...:lovestruc:lovestruc

My DS13 just lost his soccer final - but I've never seen a happier bunch of kids and parents :grouphug: what a gorgeous team. We're now planning a team BBQ - when am I going to fit that in?! :scared1:

that's the type of experience we enjoy......since we dont have kids with us, we like to sit back and just soak up the atmosphere..

I just booked tusker house as well, haven't eaten there before, but we like to try new things ...

counting down.....cant wait to get out of this cold weather, but I tried on my swimmers last night...oh dear..back to the gym I go:laughing:and maybe a spray on tan.

OK, this morning I have cancelled Chef Mickey's and booked Kona Cafe for breakfast instead. Looking forward to being at the Poly in the morning, should be lovely, and the thought of a mob scene at Chef Mickey's had my blood pressure rising already. So here's to being relaxed in the mornings! :lovestruc

that was our thoughts..the noise alone @ chef mickeys reminds me of a 747 taking off..not too relaxing and with little people running amok.....Kona is so much more civilized and did I mention "they have decent Australian standard coffee"......Loved the breakfast...nothing healthy-ish...but hey we are on hols. Oh and the coffee is great in the plunger..oops, already mentioned that:rolleyes1

Important information. In general the coffee over there is not the best.... I had a great coffee from the bar at Royal Pacific Resort at Universal.
