I didn't end up running yesterday because I woke up not feeling well. (And it wasn't from NYE partying...we went to a party but left at 10, and I didn't drink knowing I wanted to run early the next morning!)

Anyhoo, I did run today. I opted not to wear my knee sleeves because my knees have felt fine and I wanted to see how they'd feel running. My left knee twinged slightly during my first half mile, but after warming up it was fine. But then during the last quater mile of my run (I did 5 miles) it began to hurt. I'm running again tomorrow and I'll try the knee sleeves for sure.

I'm thinking including tomorrow I will only run three more times before the trip!

So I ran today and wore both of my knee sleeves. I think they helped! :thumbsup2

Now I only have two more runs to go, Sunday and Tuesday. woohoo!

Glad to hear your knees are doing well. Are you planning on getting KT taped this year?

I've got 8 tomorrow, then a couple short ones next week. The 2 and 3 milers that make you wonder why you're even bothering to do it!!

Liz - Since I am not very good with a machete, I am going to follow your plan and take the service road. ;)

We have an 8-miler scheduled for this weekend and it seems like nothing. How odd. We are checked-in and I'm packing this weekend. Really starting to get excited. Weather.com is saying Low 51, High 74, 20% chance of rain. I'll take that! Safe travels everyone. See ya real soon!!!

Made it out for a run today at lunchtime. First run in over a week. I did a little over 4 miles and felt pretty good. Hopefully will get a few more in before I leave. And always do a run on Friday morning. Real close now, starting to get a little anxious, those pre-race jitters.

Have a good weekend!

Liz - Glad to hear the sleeves worked. I was out for 5 this morning with the Galloway group, and this will be my last until next Sunday. Step, limp, step, limp. step, limp... hehehe

Everyone - Safe travels.

:cool2:

WooHoo!! almost time for Marathon Weekend!!:cool1:
I ran 7 miles today on the track. I think that was my last run before Fridays 5K. Just a couple more swims then that will be it. I'm as ready as I will ever be.
Have a good week everyone and I will see some of you soon. :thumbsup2

Joe

4 days until marathon weekend!!!

So I think I may have a posterior shin splint...I bought a sleeve for that area, too. Up to three sleeves now, yay. lol

Tanya~I did think about getting KT Taped, but I'll just use all my various sleeves. ha

Jeni~Lol..good plan. I read on another board about people who have walked from OKW in past years. Apparently it is no problem using that cm access road. Things can always change, but that's good news!

Augie~Yeah seems like all of we marathon weekend folks are getting anxious! Lots of nervous chatter going on (myself included!)

Vic~WTG on your last run! You will kick butt next Sunday!

Joe~Hope your swims go well! Almost time!

You'll first see Joe and I the night before at Turf Club. :thumbsup2

Liz - Planning on gathering any folks from Riverside main entrance by 4:15am to walk over.

Maybe see you around 4:30 then!! If not I'll see you all at Turf Club for dinner.

I wish everyone GOOD LUCK and no injuries for the weekend!!

Just wanted to pop in and wish everyone the best of luck with all their events this coming weekend - I will be thinking of you ducks!!!

I have been out of sorts with exercise lately as I started a new job in November... although we just returned from a ski trip and I managed to cross-country ski, downhill ski and snowshoe so I did burn a lot of calories last week ;)

Anyhow, have a blast at Marathon Weekend! Pixie Dust to All pixiedust:

I haven't posted on this thread in ages since I haven't raced in a really long time, but I felt this was worthy of it.....I'm running my first full this weekend @ WDW. My goals for this weekend are:

1. FINISH
2. Enjoy myself and have a great weekend!
3. Finish in under 4:30 (training would be around 4:15) so I'm giving myself a nice buffer
4. Feel good enough to go to the new Fantasyland after the race-don't know which is more exciting. Seeing Fantasyland or wearing my medal to the parks! :cool1:

Hello Ducks! A few more days to go. Hope everyone is ready and healthy and feeling good! Went for a run at lunch, around 5 miles. As Joe said, I guess I am as ready as I will be.

I leave on Thursday morning, see you all soon!

Brandon~Good luck! I hope your get your 4:30! Let us know!

Augie~What time do you get to MCO? My flight lands around 1:00.

Hi everyone,
Is it Thursday yet? We land around 11 am and plan on spending time at DTD after the Expo anyone up for some vintage video games at Disney Quest? We have never been and we will be getting our new Premium AP that day, so I thought I would give it a try.
Liz: too bad about the shin pain, hopefully the sleeve will work for you.
I plan on wearing compression socks, it has made a big difference with my legs. (I'll be rocking the tubes socks again ;))
Brandon: Nice goals, I'm thinking around 5 hours for me to finish and I would like to catch the fireworks after the Chef Mickey's dinner, hoping the feet will cooperate.
Three more sleeps!!! WooHoo!!
See Ya Real Soon!
Joe

To all the Ducks heading south this weekend for some racing, GOOD LUCK and make the rest of us in the duck pond proud! :cheer2:

Have fun and cherish the many "firsts" that will happening!

Will be tracking some of you on FB. Others may have to report in the old-fashioned way when you're through. In any case, everyone wants to hear how it went! :cool1:

Hello,

I'm about as ready as I can be also. :yay:

Did 7 miles in 90 minutes! Hope I can keep that pace for Saturday.
Did last 3 miles this morning and now I will rest and PACK!!! :)

:dance3:

Any other marathon weekend Ducks starting to feel butterflies in your stomach?! I am! They are mixture of excited and nervous. The heat we are going to face this weekend is not helping. And I have 2 billion things I still need to do before I leave Thursday morning. lol Part of my nerves is leaving my family behind, I always get a little anxious about that. I know I'll feel better once my plane takes off and I'm on my way. It's going to be a great weekend! :goodvibes

You land early! I would have flown earlier but I have to get my kids to school first. I'll be dropping them off and then going straight to the airport! :)

Have fun at DQ! We went there last summer for the first time. It is a cool place. The virtual POC game was SO fun! There was a long line so I waited in it while my dh and boys played games in the area. It was worth the wait.

Can't wait to see the socks! heehee

Thank you Renee! You must be excited for the Tinkerbell next week! :tink:
