PeopleMover is my kind of thrill ride! ~6/30: quick check in!

Oh... you must mean the Modern Family that was taped in Disneyland.
OMG how could I forget about this?!?!?! I will forever be SO jealous!!!!!!!!

Not that I'm bragging or anything... :p
Brag away!!! I sure would!!!

Just for the record, this is still the Canada movie. The Canadia movie, however, while still containing Marty Short because, obviously, will indeed have seats. I'm thinking either swivel chairs (just because they're fun) or maybe barstools. :scratchin
Ahhhh, this makes total sense! YES! I approve of the swivel chairs or barstools! And yes, definitely still Marty Short because... duh!

GASP! How very cool! I'm a huge fan of the show, and I think I've seen that episode in particular roughly 4.3 million times. I am super-duper jealous! ::yes::
I KNOW, right?!?!?!

I’m a 32 year old upstate New Yorker who lives far too far away from her favorite place… Disney World!

At least you're only a couple hours away by plane. It takes forever for me!

I work in a research library of a glass museum and love my job! I get to work with such cool things every single day. A few years ago we happened upon a letter written by Thomas Jefferson discussing glass windows – so cool!

That is very cool!

I also love reading, spending time on the lake with my family, running, yoga, pilates, a clean and tidy home, the Red Sox, and long walks on the beach. I am looking for a guy who - OOPS! Wrong site... moving on...

:rotfl::rotfl2: Hey, you never know who may be reading!

“But first, let me take a selfie” [I decided, ultimately, that I just couldn’t be associated forever and eternity with that song…)

Thanks for not allowing this to be bumping up on my subbed list!:lmao:

“Wandering the world, one bathroom at a time!” [hey, a girl needs to stay hydrated and may also have had some motion sickness issues to deal with :faint:… more on that later!]

:scared: Uh oh.

img_0983-jpg.99884

Still a gate shot. I'll take it!

Hey where's the rest of the sign?? It's Pop Century Resort and Spa right @DisneyKid4Life ::yes::

the one thing I really brought along couldn’t fit in it: my appetite! :thumbsup2

Nice:thumbsup2

During the bus ride, I overheard an interesting conversation between three college girls discussing how, in 10 short years,
they’d be – to their complete and utter horrors – 30. :rotfl: Oh, ladies, I remember when I hit that number I thought I'd actually just drop over in disbelief. But it turns out my 30s are so much better than my 20s. I'm happy to be firmly planted in 'em. :thumbsup2 But... I decided they'd have to find out for themselves.

Oh my gosh, I remember how dramatic I was when I turned 20 :lmao: I agree about the 30s being better. I sure hope that means that our 40s are going to be spectacular though cause i'm not too far away :scared1:

Cute selfie!

And then saw something else… a woman… in very high heels. Like, you-couldn't-pay-me-enough-to-wear-them-across-the-street high heels. Guys, for real, you just wouldn't believe these things. I love high heels, don't get me wrong, but to wear on an outing to Epcot?! It was really shocking the number of extraordinarily high heels I witnessed this trip. Almost never did I think by the rest of the party’s attire that they were heading to a really fancy ADR; it seemed, instead, that these women chose these shoes as their park shoes for the day. :faint:

Yikes! But if she can do it, without complaining and not bringing others fun down, I say go for it. I've seen this many times at Disneyland and it's just like, why?:confused3

I do hear good things about this, but it would be so weird for me at first I'd think!

This made me both happy and sad: happy because of the amazing memory and sad because she wasn’t there with me again! Years ago on a trip we took together, there was an outrageously long line for the bathrooms in the England pavilion. We had sauntered up, took one look at the line, and she said “I’m not going to queue up to go to the bloody loo” in her best British accent. It was hilarious and we find creative ways to interject that phrase into non-Disney life as much as possible.

:lmao: That is great!

This looks bomb.com!

Super pretty!

My knee was holding up really well! Yay!

I was going to ask about that, glad that it was doing well:goodvibes

Not completely caught up, but I did read your most recent update and I have to say that the macaroon looks really yummy!

Impressions of France as your first attraction - LOVE IT! Why the heck not?

Super cute selfies on your travel day.

I agree - when I travel solo I see EVERYTHING. When I'm with someone else I see nothing. :rotfl:

I'm (finally) here!

I'm so impressed that you're still on day one but already to page eight! Nice work! :thumbsup2

Those F&G treats look so yummy. I think one of my next trips needs to be during Flower & Garden or Food & Wine so food booths can be involved. I think they may have the macaroon at the French bakery as well - I saw someone with one on a later day in our trip.

High heels as park shoes?! I DO NOT THINK SO. :crazy2:

Hey, don't feel bad about your first attraction! Although our first attraction of the trip was at a different park, our first MK attraction one year was It's a Small World. (?!) :confused3 Yes, we always go on it, but it's certainly not a top favorite!

I'm right there with you on Test Track - I preferred the original version as well. However, I will say I liked it much more this time than I did the last time. Perhaps it will grow on you, too?

At least you're only a couple hours away by plane. It takes forever for me!
Good point! But... you're closer to DL so there!:goodvibes

:rotfl::rotfl2: Hey, you never know who may be reading!
True! :thumbsup2 :rotfl2:

Thanks for not allowing this to be bumping up on my subbed list!:lmao:
:rotfl: you're welcome! ;)

Yeah... the title of this TR really does say it all... :faint:

Still a gate shot. I'll take it!
Exactly! ::yes::

Hey where's the rest of the sign?? It's Pop Century Resort and Spa right @DisneyKid4Life ::yes::
Oops! Must have been cut off!

Oh my gosh, I remember how dramatic I was when I turned 20 :lmao: I agree about the 30s being better. I sure hope that means that our 40s are going to be spectacular though cause i'm not too far away :scared1:
Right?! What?! You can't be close to 40 - I refuse to believe it.

Cute selfie!
Aww, thanks :goodvibes

Yikes! But if she can do it, without complaining and not bringing others fun down, I say go for it. I've seen this many times at Disneyland and it's just like, why?:confused3
More power to her/them for sure... but not my thing!

I do hear good things about this, but it would be so weird for me at first I'd think!
It was something I knew I had to try, but I did have some reservations. But it was fabulous!!!

I was going to ask about that, glad that it was doing well:goodvibes
Thank you! My knee was a trooper the whole trip! :thumbsup2

Not completely caught up, but I did read your most recent update and I have to say that the macaroon looks really yummy!
It was easily my favorite thing... and totally unexpected. :thumbsup2

Impressions of France as your first attraction - LOVE IT! Why the heck not?
Exactly!!!

Super cute selfies on your travel day.
Thanks, Mary Ellen! :goodvibes

I agree - when I travel solo I see EVERYTHING. When I'm with someone else I see nothing. :rotfl:
This is SO true!!! Travel companions are so distracting, aren't they?! :rotfl:

High heels in Disney? Nope nope nope... High heels are my official "going out somewhere to sit down and look pretty" shoes, as little walking as possible.
Exactly!!! I couldn't agree more!

I hope to see Impressions of France again when I go back - I thought it was well done.
I really do love this film... and you can sit down! :thumbsup2

Mmmmm, macarons. I'll take a hazelnut macaron, thank you!
OMG I WANT ONE NOW!

I'm (finally) here!
Yay!!! So happy to see you, Jenny! So excited to read all about your adventures with Anika!!!

I'm so impressed that you're still on day one but already to page eight! Nice work! :thumbsup2
Why thank you! I hadn't even realized that myself until you said so. I think since my updates tend to be on the shorter side, the page count will really add up. :goodvibes

Those F&G treats look so yummy. I think one of my next trips needs to be during Flower & Garden or Food & Wine so food booths can be involved. I think they may have the macaroon at the French bakery as well - I saw someone with one on a later day in our trip.
They really were so yummy! You've gotta try the food booths - such a fun way to eat!

High heels as park shoes?! I DO NOT THINK SO. :crazy2:
Right?!?!? :confused3

Hey, don't feel bad about your first attraction! Although our first attraction of the trip was at a different park, our first MK attraction one year was It's a Small World. (?!) :confused3 Yes, we always go on it, but it's certainly not a top favorite!
:rotfl: I LOVE THIS!

I'm right there with you on Test Track - I preferred the original version as well. However, I will say I liked it much more this time than I did the last time. Perhaps it will grow on you, too?
I think I actually liked it more this trip than on my last trip, maybe the shock of "THIS ISN'T HOW IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE!" finally wore off :rotfl2:

Good point! But... you're closer to DL so there!:goodvibes

Good argument!

but i'd rather visit WDW :duck:

Right?! What?! You can't be close to 40 - I refuse to believe it.

I may have exaggerated (guess I still act like i'm in my 20's :rotfl2:) I'm 31 but it feels like time is speeding up now and I hate it

More power to her/them for sure... but not my thing!

Same here! I do good in wedges though :thumbsup2 I just recently went to a party at Disneyland and it was dressy so I wore flats halfway and switched to wedges for dinner ::yes::

:wave2: Hi Tracy! I'm slowly catching up!

When I last left off, I had just finished up eating in Japan and I was ready to do some more damage!

You go girl!

I shimmied up to the register

:goodvibes You shimmy (I have no doubt that you do) and I sashay.
Wouldn't we make a great team?

and a young woman and her boyfriend budged right in front of me.

What?!?!? WHAT?!?!?? They're lucky I wasn't there or it would've gotten ugly!
Nobody puts baby in the corner... or budges in front of our Tracy!!

Sadly, this was only the start of budging this trip.

Ooooohhhh.... That makes me angry!

I think as a solo traveler you see this more often because there isn’t enough of you to keep people behind you from creeping up and around you.

I dunno. I never had a problem. Not that I can recall anyway.

Anyway, the guy gave me a half-hearted apologetic smile but I just smiled and let them go.

A real man would've said to his girlfriend "Honey, this young lady was here first."

Weasel.

The falafel was good but definitely far from my favorite.

No offense, but it doesn't look particularly appealing to me.

This was my amazing view though, which was pretty hard to beat!

::yes::

Years ago on a trip we took together, there was an outrageously long line for the bathrooms in the England pavilion. We had sauntered up, took one look at the line, and she said “I’m not going to queue up to go to the bloody loo” in her best British accent.

:lmao: Love it! I can just hear it too!

we find creative ways to interject that phrase into non-Disney life as much as possible.

I should hope so!

See the clouds?

Yep. Doesn't look good.

Wow. This may have been my favorite F&G purchase of all! Sometimes those impulse buys are the best ones.

It's DD14s favourite thing too.
She tried one in Paris and has been hooked ever since.
Except now she's a macaron snob. She has no problem telling me if the one she's having is good enough.

(I mean, I wanted to keep eating but I’m not completely a bottomless pit!)

I decided to make my first attraction something that probably NO ONE has ever done as their first Disney attraction of the trip: Impressions de France!

I'd say you're probably right.

It wasn’t about hitting all the major attractions at break-neck speed. It was about going with the flow and enjoying just being there.

:thumbsup2

After Impressions, I stopped for a few PP photos.
img_0996-jpg.101384

Wow! So pretty!

And the scenery behind you is nice, too. Love the trees (and of course the topiary).

I noticed that they had written in marker the date on their buttons of last night! But here’s the thing… they didn’t utter two words to each other the entire time… until about 20 minutes into waiting and she poked him in the stomach and he muttered something unappreciative back to her.

Somehow I keep thinking "I give it six months".
Hope I'm wrong and they were just tired.

So here’s the thing about solo traveling, in case you’re not familiar yourself: you observe a lot of people doing a lot of things. Sometimes these things melt your heart, sometimes they have you scratching your head, and sometimes, well, you get the drift.

::yes::
You're not focussing on your travel partner, so you focus elsewhere.

My knee was holding up really well! Yay!

Good!

On my way there I caught a [grown] man dancing and when he saw me see him, I gave him a big thumbs up that he seemed to really appreciate. I love what Disney does to people.

:goodvibes

chile peppers and I are not friends.

Do they budge in front of you too???

so I ventured off to do something I’ve never done before!

Ooohh.... Wonder what that could be?
Turtle Talk?

Good argument!

but i'd rather visit WDW

Yeah... I hear ya there ;)
I may have exaggerated (guess I still act like i'm in my 20's :rotfl2:) I'm 31 but it feels like time is speeding up now and I hate it
Okay, 31 is at least within the realm of possibilities. 40?! Not so much! You're still younger than me ;)

Same here! I do good in wedges though :thumbsup2 I just recently went to a party at Disneyland and it was dressy so I wore flats halfway and switched to wedges for dinner ::yes::
Wedges are certainly better than stilettos! Which is what, specifically, this woman was wearing :confused3

:wave2: Hi Tracy! I'm slowly catching up!
Hi Ponzi! Don't feel bad... I am WAY behind on mostly everyone's myself... :sad2:

You go girl!
Oh, I did! My eating around the world had only just begun

:goodvibes You shimmy (I have no doubt that you do) and I sashay.
Wouldn't we make a great team?
We really would

What?!?!? WHAT?!?!?? They're lucky I wasn't there or it would've gotten ugly!
Nobody puts baby in the corner... or budges in front of our Tracy!!
Where were ya when I needed you?! ;)

A real man would've said to his girlfriend "Honey, this young lady was here first."
I completely agree... especially about the "young" lady part... :rolleyes1

No offense, but it doesn't look particularly appealing to me.
I was expecting a lot more... well not "more" per se, just "better".
:lmao: Love it! I can just hear it too!
Yep, it was great! In fact, this same sister will be home next weekend for THREE WEEKS from England! SOOOOO excited! I can already imagine the state of my TR and everyone else's that I'm following during that time though... :faint:

I should hope so!
Yup. Every opportunity.

Yep. Doesn't look good.
I'll let you in on a secret: it NEVER rained that day! :confused3 Crazy. That's Florida for ya.

It's DD14s favourite thing too.
She tried one in Paris and has been hooked ever since.
Except now she's a macaron snob. She has no problem telling me if the one she's having is good enough.
:rotfl: If you're gonna be a snob about something, it might as well be macarons :thumbsup2

I'd say you're probably right.
Yeah, first time Impressions had earned "first attraction" honors in... forever.

Wow! So pretty!

And the scenery behind you is nice, too. Love the trees (and of course the topiary).
 Awww, shucks...

Somehow I keep thinking "I give it six months".
Hope I'm wrong and they were just tired.
My thoughts exactly...

::yes::
You're not focussing on your travel partner, so you focus elsewhere.
Precisely. And, depending on your travel partner, this is a very good thing. :rotfl:

Here's another secret: my knee only got BETTER the whole trip! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Do they budge in front of you too???
It's more their attitude. They think they're too hot for me... and they are!

Ooohh.... Wonder what that could be?
Turtle Talk?
Nope... this trip was my second time seeing Turtle Talk. But good guess! I give you 2 points for a good guess... and you're the winner since this isn't a contest but I want you to be the winner anyway :laughing: (do I get points for sucking up on a TR not even yours?!) :rotfl2:

We really would

::yes::

Where were ya when I needed you?! ;)

In the wrong spot obviously! :headache:

Actually, I guess any time you're not in Disney, you're in the wrong spot.

Yep, it was great! In fact, this same sister will be home next weekend for THREE WEEKS from England! SOOOOO excited! I can already imagine the state of my TR and everyone else's that I'm following during that time though... :faint:

Family visits before Disboards!

I'll let you in on a secret: it NEVER rained that day! :confused3 Crazy. That's Florida for ya.

Huh. Sure looked ominous.

Precisely. And, depending on your travel partner, this is a very good thing. :rotfl:

Here's another secret: my knee only got BETTER the whole trip! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Oh! That's good news! :)

It's more their attitude. They think they're too hot for me... and they are!

Nope... this trip was my second time seeing Turtle Talk. But good guess! I give you 2 points for a good guess... and you're the winner since this isn't a contest but I want you to be the winner anyway :laughing:

Awww.... thanks! :goodvibes

(do I get points for sucking up on a TR not even yours?!) :rotfl2:

I'll be honest.
I've currently spent a solid hour just tabulating all the guesses and points for those.
I haven't figured out bonus points yet, nor have I tallied up the totals yet.

But if I can remember... (and thats a big if)

then...

YES!

May 17
Day 1, Part 4

When last we left off, I had just left the Festival Center and debated about what to do before I was able to start pounding more F&G eats. I contemplated and contemplated. Pondered and pondered. And then it hit me! Why not go over to the Visa Character Spot for a free photo?! This is absolutely inexcusable that I haven’t ever done this. For crying out loud, I’ve been a Disney Visa card holder since 2007! It was high time I got my butt over there and strike a pose with my pals. Also, this would give me a good excuse for a character meet because I – much like @pkondz except for when it comes to certain troublesome little fairies – don’t really do character meets. It’s really nothing against them per se, the waiting in line to do so doesn’t usually appeal to me. Anyway…

I headed over and found the line to be pretty reasonable. I passed the 10 minutes or so by chatting with the couple behind me. They were great, albeit without some boundaries. Let’s just say I can’t believe they let me pose for my pictures with Mickey, Minnie, and Goofy without them in it.

This meet was great! It actually made me wonder whether I should do more of them. I felt like a little kid. I excitedly showed Mickey my earrings, necklace and ring and he was very excited to see them. He also kissed my hand… no big deal… :rolleyes1

I can't find this photo on my computer but I'll bring to you the one that now occupies space in my apartment:

IMG_2051.JPG

From there I headed back toward World Showcase, in the direction of China. I had an oolong peach bubble tea to get my hands on!

100_2815.JPG

At $6.50 this was quite an expensive drink for not having any alcohol in it, but it was honestly worth it, it was sooo good! As I drank that I just wandered for a bit, enjoying the atmosphere and soaking it all up.

I wandered enough to actually make it back to Future World… and decided a boat ride on Living with the Land was in order.

Guys, this is crazy but I’m obsessed with this ride. I have no explanation but I went on it an obnoxious number of times this trip. And I’m not gonna apologize for it so there. Ahhh, first Disney water smell. If you’ve not yet experienced the wonder that is the smell of Disney water, you’re in for a treat. #bestsmellever

During the ride, I also decided to charge up my phone with my phone charger – I highly recommend having one of these things if you’re a smart phone user. My phone’s battery just wouldn’t have been able to make it through long days in the parks without it.

As I walked around, I headed toward Spaceship Earth but first stopped to pick up my Disney Visa greet photo. SE was a complete walk on – woohoo!

After SE I headed toward Figment which was listed at 15 minutes on MDE but was in reality a walk on. I walked right on to a waiting vehicle.

From here, it was time for my FP+ for Nemo. But not before first pausing for a few photo opps:

After that, I had finally found room in my stomach for my second round of eating. I headed for the Urban Farm Eats stand for the Quinoa Vegetable “Naanwich” with arugula pesto and oven dried tomatoes (reading this out of my little passport… my memory is far from being that good). Or good at all… moving on.

100_2856.JPG

Truthfully, this wasn’t my favorite of the selections I tried either. But I headed straightaway to Mexico and got the Flan de Queso con Chocolate Abuelita.
100_2857.JPG

Okay, now we’re talkin’. While I ate, I caught a little bit of the Chinese acrobats. When I say a "little bit" you can see from this picture I meant it... not exactly the prime viewing spot, is it?

100_2859.JPG

At this point, I couldn’t decide whether I could handle the Florida Blueberry and Lemon Curd Tart from the Florida Fresh stand or not. But I figured “when in doubt, go for it” so I did...

I wandered back over to FW at this point as my Soarin’ FP time was quickly approaching!

Thanks for reading! This was one long post but if I don't get moving on this TR... it might drag on for years!
I'm doing my very best to keep up with all of your PTRs and TRs! My sister (the one who lives in England) will be home for three weeks starting next Monday so I need to get with the program because I'll inevitably fall way behind again soon...
