Admit it, you've been that rude guest!

Well, I'll tell you one guy almost got lynched when he did this last time. There were two cashiers and only one line. So the next person in line was waiting for the NEXT available cashier, so there were not two separate lines for two separate cashiers. It was one line, so at any given time there was one person at the cashier on the left, and the entire line was behind the cashier on the right, but moved over a bit. While we were waiting, a guy comes up and jumps in the line with only one person. The entire line started yelling at him to "get in the back of the line" I will never forget the look on his face! He was so embarrassed and the entire line was glaring at him and shaming him. He had no idea he did anything wrong, but the look on his face said he was so satisfied with himself for jumping in the "short" line while all us schmucks waited in the "long" line. I could not help but giggle. Not saying that is what went on in your situation, but it was this particular time.
I have to wonder why it was set up like that normally it is set up so there are 2 lines per cashier one on either side.

In his defense, not everywhere does the "wait in one line for multiple cashiers" thing. I grew up in TN and NC and never saw this concept until I moved to NYC. Everywhere else I've lived you pick one cashier and line up behind that register - cashier roulette as to how quickly it will go.

Sure you do. They don't use them because they do not know. The polite thing to do would be to explain it to them and let them move into that line. After all, they were there first. The rude thing to do would be to take advantage of their ignorance and skip them in line.

Now, if you explain it to them and they refuse to step into the other line - that is another story.

Reminds me of when a cashier at the grocery store or target etc. opens a new line. I HATE it when the people in the back of the current line jump over to the new line. IMO the person waiting the longest i.c. the NEXT in the current line should be first to move over to the newly opened line.

Exactly (other than the possibility of skipping the fare by getting on in the back - I know many people in NYC will do that trick - though it only works if people are getting off). The bus is going to the same place. It's one thing if people are being left behind, but as long as everyone is able to get on the bus... Like I tell my students who just HAVE to be first and will push and shove in line at bussing "Is the bus leaving the second YOU get on and without everyone else? No? So it doesn't matter who is on first."

We use a tap card system, with readers at every door, and people are often really awesome about making room at the back. People will even get off and hold the door open, while everyone else jams in. It makes good sense when you're getting off in a couple stops, because when you get back on, you're still close to the exit.

My husband grumbles about people on disney busses who block the aisles and refuse to move back, make room, get cozy, etc. He says the same thing you do - were all going to the same place, so why does it matter if you're near the exit? You're not going to miss your stop! One of these days he might say it loud enough to be heard by more than just me. ;)

I don't know if I believe that. For example Southwest bag checking. I can't tell you how many times even with the employees loudly and clearly saying to go to the first available kiosk half the people wait until a PERSON is available. This slows everything down. If you go to the kiosk and put in your info they only have to grab your tags, tag your bags, check your licence, hand you the claim tickets. As it was they had everyone waiting for help. I have skipped ahead of people often. If they won't listen to the employee why should I think they will listen to me.

Have you not at disney gotten dirty looks for "fill in all available space" when the CMs were yelling that? I know I have.

I have to wonder why it was set up like that normally it is set up so there are 2 lines per cashier one on either side.

Sounds like some people from the NYC/NJ (because I know they do that here) got in one line and just started it going that way and demanded that everyone else fall in line.

Generally at Target the next person in line would already have at least half their stuff out of the cart and on the belt. So no probably wouldn't make much sense for them to be first in the new line... the new cashier could probably ring up an entire order before they moved their stuff.

I am probably rude by your standing too. DH works at target so he knows that all the registers work for all the stuff. So if we have only a few things and see long lines. We go to food ave (if we don't want starbucks) or to starbucks if we also wanted coffee.

I generally hesitate a moment to see if the next person will move over. I'll even ask! But, they're often unloading their groceries, or they feel they've committed to the line, or they're off in lala land, and I won't wait forever.

Our drugstore has a photography counter that can ring you out, if you ask. ;) Yay, for skipping lines!

I've definitely been the one that inadvertently cuts people off... In my defense, my peripheral vision and spacial orientation are terrible. I walk into doors and walls fairly often because I can't accurately judge where my body is! So, sorry...

Not rude but I'm sure it made for a great story when my DH fainted on the bus last November! We were headed back to All Star Sports from Epcot and he just fell over! Then someone said he was having a seizure and I just LOST it. It was almost exactly a year since we had lost his mom to brain cancer, and all those fears just rushed up. Luckily he was, and is, okay but I'm sure we are talked about.

Not Disney but we felt forced to "retaliate" against another group on an excursion in Alaska. This large family was blatantly disregarding all the rules... Walking where they were not allowed, going into the train restroom at the border crossing (we were told to stay in our seats with passports out). The last straw was when we stopped at the Alaska sign for photos. The rest of us formed a line to take photos in turn... This group just walked right in front of the entire line to take all their photos and pretended they didn't see the line. So DH deliberately stood right in front of the "lead" man, blocking him. When the man said they were trying to take a picture, DH said, "Yes, and so are all these other people, we're waiting in line." Sorry not sorry.

Well obviously if the person already had stuff on the belt they would not move to a new line, that would be silly to pack up everything and move. But the next person in line who does NOT have stuff on the belt should be the first to move to the new line, unless the don't mind waiting and tell the person behind them to "go ahead"

As far as going to the starbucks area to pay, knock yourself out, doesn't seem wrong to me.

Gotcha. I wish they'd have that system here. Of course they've pulled a lot of the humans from the subway stations as well, so there are a lot of people jumping the turnstiles, going in the non-alarmed "emergency exit" doors people are exiting, etc. So they're losing a lot of money anyway. They seem to be more content to just keep raising rates rather than figure out ways to actually ensure that everyone pays.

This is not the same as the "fill in all available space" request, and there is no one telling them to use both sides of a cashier. It is very unclear if you are new to WDW. There are stubborn people out there, but almost everyone that we have told has thanked us and moved to the open line. I say almost because of one incident that I won't go into in this thread, but in spite of that incident we still tell others. To do otherwise is the same as skipping in a line at a ride, IMO.

We have this too, also if you only have a few items, the pharmacy will ring you up in the back of the store.

Not to be too obvious here, but the signs and announcements that flash photography wasn't allowed didn't clue you in?
I have done the flash photos a few times... Mostly when I had a new camera and thought I turned the flash off only to realize I didn't.

I like my current camera best for this because there is NO getting this wrong and messing up. The flash has a button to pop up the light. If the flash is down its not going off.

What do you need to take a picture of in the ride?? Just wondering as with the currently YouTube ride throughs and other website photos what do you possibly need to take a picture of?

Just wondering?

I noticed that taking photos of the ride absouelty takes me out of the experience I'm sad I had to learn that lesson the hard way.

I was the grumpy shouty parent last time. My middle child decided he really, really, really needed to go to the bathroom just as we were about to get to the front of the line at Buzz Lightyear. After waiting in line for like 30 minutes. To this day, I have no idea why I was so irritated, because I loathe that ride and was not looking forward to it anyway. I had him by the arm and marched him out, then sat on a bench scowling while he used the bathroom. Poor kid. I apologized, he got a hug, and then I bought him a pin while we waited for his dad and siblings.

My husband is also one of those people who gets cranky and makes passive-aggressive statements to no one in particular. "NO, JUST KEEP STEPPING IN FRONT OF PEOPLE, NO ONE ELSE HAS ANYWHERE TO BE!" Like, do you have to be That Guy? Can you just go with the flow for a change? And then we start bickering about it.

Gotta love the snark!! This is a confession thread, no need to jump in the with attitude. I do not remember the announcements, if I had heard/seen them then I wouldn't have done it. Not sure what year they started or if they were always there. This was the pre-digital/smartphone era.

My husband insists that I almost plowed a woman down with a stroller in Tomorrowland last year. I think he is wrong. I didn't see anyone at all! Suddenly, I realized that Tinkerbell was in flight, and starting "run walking" with the stroller so my daughter could see her. Surely I didn't do that.
