The Split Personality Trip Report - Updated 12/16 Day 9

:dogdance:

:sad2: Oh comcast.......:sad2:

DH would be over the moon if Google FIber became an option for us. LoL.

It had been rumored for years, and finally we were one of 4 or 5 cities it was considering. Nashville went on a social media/media blitz reminding everyone to tell Google we wanted them here. We (everyone here in Nashville, not just me and Matt) are so stinking excited that Google Fiber is coming here. I hate Comcast, but I hate AT&T more, and those are pretty much our options here. I think there will be a mass exodus from Comcast once Google Fiber is live and running!

You sound like DH....:rotfl: He pretty much hates our options as well.

i love the watch too. I bought that nightmare before christmas toy set for the kids. I didnt see that fuzzy Jack doll though! We bought the big head one, it's fine but not as cute as the fuzzy one! Now I will have to look. I actually dont have DTD in my plans at all for my next trip, but I am hoping to find time to get there alone at some point. Maybe during a nap.

If you make it out there, most of this NBC stuff was in the shop on the opposite end of the Goofy Candy store building. (across from like Earl of Sandwich) The watch was from World of Disney.

Day 8: (May15th):

So this morning I was meeting a local friend for breakfast. Originally this ADR was for everyone to have breakfast here (all 6 of us). We knew when we made the ADR that there was a good chance that Haley, Kim and Zoe would not be joining us, since this was the day they were planning on heading home. This was one place Matt really wanted to have breakfast. I had made one of their signature dishes at home and he loved it. (and it was not nearly as good as the authentic one! So I knew he was going to love the real deal!) Knowing that the three leaving today, were most likely not going to go, I invited my local friend to join us at (we had been trying to meet up all week)… I had also told Sabrina that this was a Matt touring with me day…to get some things he specifically wanted to do done…so it ended up being just me, Matt and my friend Rachel at breakfast at...

Kona Café!

Matt needed some Tonga Toast, and I needed some pressed kona coffee! (for the record, I found their regular coffee better than the pressed coffee). Both Rachel and Matt had the Tonga Toast. I had the Big Kahuna Breakfast.

It was all yummy. It was great catching up with Rachel. She has what I call a bill paying job, and then she has a fun job too. Her fun job is at a place called Give Kids the World. Everyone should check out their website and donate your time talent or treasures wherever you can to this wonderful place! I have had the pleasure of meeting (virtually and in real life) some of the folks that have spent time here. Rachel told me about how much she enjoys spending time here too. A lot of very special families pass through GKTW. Soon though, she had to be heading off to the bill paying job. We said our See Ya Real Soons, and...

Matt and I were heading to Epcot.

We did not have any FP+ for this day, but we got in shortly after rope drop. Of course we headed to The Land right away. I NEEDED to ride Soarin. We got there and I think the wait was 50 minutes. I decided that we would wait this one out and get in line. I assured Matt this was worth the wait. I do believe he grumbled about this and was not that impressed with the line wait games. But I assured him this was really worth it. We were ushered to row one (YEAH!) While standing in line, we chatted with a nice CPer who was there with her dad. She had noticed my shirt, and we got to talking about my favorite character…FIGMENT. But soon our flight was boarding. We got buckled into the seats (we both need to lose a little weight to make these a little more comfy). And off we went! As anticipated, Matt had a great time and conceded that it was well worth the wait. He also sounds really excited to have our friend joining us on our next trip to try it out. So I believe that was a success! Next we rode Living with the Land. Matt enjoyed it but did not love it. I like this ride. I have done the behind the seeds tour, and I thought it is one of the best (and least expensive) tours around. If you ever get the opportunity, take the tour…just being able to go around the inside of the green houses was really neat!

After LWTL, we wanted to see the sneak peak of Tomorrowland and we really wanted to get the pin they were giving out earlier when you saw the preview. Unfortunately, they had run out of pins (or at least that is what we were told). But we went watch the sneak peak and really enjoyed it. Unfortunately, I never did get to see the movie (although I have not heard great reviews of it).

So once we left there, WS was open and we headed that way. We really did not stop for Canada at all. (I could not remember how scooter friendly it was, and nothing really draws me there…and Matt was ok with missing it) We passed England. Matt would have like to stop for Fish and Chips, but they are really not my favorite. There was not really anything that he wanted to see in England either, so we headed onto France. We did stop to admire all the topiaries along the way. We got to France and discussed the options of getting a Grey Goose slushie and something to eat here, but we were not starving then, so we moved onto Morocco. Matt was interested in trying Spice Road Table, but I really did not feel like it. We did wander around the shops here, and I just spent some time people watching while he looked at more. It sprinkled a little while we were in here too. I did get a photopass picture taken here. The photographer was from New Orleans, so I tried to strike up a conversation with him. It was like he was annoyed because I was a single old fat lady wanting a picture…he had been schmoozing some younger ladies earlier (I watched while waiting my turn). He turned out to be one of the most rude and arrogant little snots I have ever met. I am hoping it was the fact that that he just wanted more cuties to talk to, but I had also asked where he was from in NOLA, and he responded that he was from an area that was more affluent than where I told him I was from…so it almost seemed as if he was really put off that I was asking him to take my picture. Anywho here is the picture:

Once we finished there we headed to Japan. Matt wanted to look in the Japanese department store…I assume at all the anime/pokemon stuff, etc. While in there, I saw they were doing the Pick-a-Pearl Ceremony. I told Matt that I was going to go get in line to do this. While waiting to pay, he taps me on the shoulder and says, get two. He wanted to pick one too. So while waiting our turns, we scouted out the ugliest oysters we could find. Once it was our turn, they pulled our oysters out of the tank, and they said who wants to go first? Matt said, Ladies first, so mine was up! The ceremony girl at the counter of course made a big production of opening the oyster and peaking in. She got a great big grin on her face, and pointed to me and says…”It your Lucky Day!”…two pearls for the price of one! I ended up with two beautiful 6.5mm twin pearls. Next it was Matt’s turn. Same little ceremony, and she opens Matt’s oyster and says…BOTH of you are LUCKY! And she showed him a beautiful black pearl. She said they had only had 3 or 5 of these found there (although this sounds familiar to me….as in someone else got the same story). It did not matter it was a beautiful pearl. The lady standing behind me watching us said…”would you go buy me a lottery ticket today?” I responded with right after I buy mine. So here are the pearls together making a nice hidden mickey:

This was so much fun! If you have the opportunity to do this, then take that opportunity! I am not a jewelry person, and I had already decided I was not going to put my pearl (now pearls) in a setting there at the store, so I still have mine. Matt on the other hand had a custom made ring for Damita (the dog whisperer) out of the black pearl. I will try to get a picture of it.

It is perfect for her since she LOVES Zarina the Pirate Fairy!

When we left ther it was about 2:30 in the afternoon, and we were suddenly starving. I suggested we grab something at a quick service restaurant or look and see if we could get a last minute ADR someplace. Matt was convinced that we would not find an ADR. I said well, why don’t we try Teppan Edo (he had suggested that during one of our planning sessions and we had decided against it then). He again was sure that we would not get an ADR. I called, and sure enough, they had an opening for Teppan Edo in the next 10 minutes. So we headed right up. We really enjoyed our food, but the atmosphere was not as entertaining as some of the hibachi chefs in the Nashville area. The food was good, but I have absolutely no desire to go again. We were seated next to a nice South American couple of which only the husband spoke English. The wife could understand some, but the husband usually translated everything for us and her.

We left Teppan Edo and continued on through the world showcase. We may have quickly browsed through Italy, but I don’t remember anything that stood out if we did. We did go through the shops in Germany, as Matt wanted to look for steins. Here are a few that he saw:

We then continued on through the shops (gotta love the pickle ornament Christmas tree). I was on a mission here. I had to get to the Carmel shop. Matt decided to wait this one out while I went in to shop. I really wanted some gingerbread men, but they had none. But I did end up with some sea salt milk chocolate caramels and a large bag of caramel popcorn. I wish I would have bought about ten of those bags of popcorn because it was YUMMY!

We then moved along past the Outpost and headed towards Mexico. We wanted to check out inside of Mexico, but we were getting a little tired, and we did not have the patience to figure out where the wheelchair entrance was located.

So we headed to the front of the park. We passed by Test Track and even the single rider line was over 30 minutes so we skipped it. We decided to do Spaceship Earth before heading out for the day. We actually enjoyed waiting for our turn to load on this ride. But then they squished both of us into one ride vehicle…it was a little tight in there. But, for the first time ever, I stayed awake during the end of the entire ride! This is usually my nap time at Epcot. My son thinks it is hysterical that I fall asleep in this ride. But I made it this time!

On the way out of the park, I took these photopass pictures. This photographer was fantastic. She loves Figment too, she noticed my shirt and had me do several different poses. Here they are:

We got back to the room, and Sabrina was soaking in the bathtub relaxing when we got back. I think this was the night that we actually ordered pizza to be delivered to the room. It was surprisingly good! I spent a little time organizing my things because I knew we had a full day tomorrow and then we would have to come back and pack tomorrow night.

Great update! Love tonga toast! Although I can barely eat anything the rest of the day after that breakfast.

Tomorrowland was not as great as it could have been (the preview at Epcot was great but I think the movie fell short). But it wasn't horrible. It's worth a watch once.

I can't believe that PP photographer you had at Morocco! How rude. I hope Disney magic helped you forget about that incident as quickly as it happened.

The pearls are so cute! Are you going to make some matching earrings from your duo pearls?

Karamel Kuche always smells so good! I usually end up getting caramel apple when I pass by. They cut it up for you so you can eat it easily! Although on this trip we didn't get one as we were always so full.

Teppan Edo is alright. It's fun when you are there, but there are much better experiences at Epcot. Have you been to the restaurant at Morocco? I had a great meal last year with my sister. I was surprised at the experience (I guess I wasn't expecting much) and the food was delicious.

LOL, your next day was when we almost ran into each other at Sci Fi! Can't wait to read more about that!

and we got to talking about my favorite character…FIGMENT.

Did you see the new figment merch that was just released? http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/bl...-20th-epcot-international-food-wine-festival/

He turned out to be one of the most rude and arrogant little snots I have ever met

What a turd, nothing should break the magic! I am glad the other photographer took care of you better.

”It your Lucky Day!”

Well that story makes me want to go try it out! I have never done pick a pearl before.

Lots of fun! We missed Kona last time but maybe staying at hte POly we will get there.... though I have a LOT of breakfasts booked :)

They gave out pins when you saw this? Darn now I kinda wish I had pushed and gotten over there.

Well that's a shame. At least the picture is nice.

”It your Lucky Day!”…two pearls for the price of one! I ended up with two beautiful 6.5mm twin pearls. Next it was Matt’s turn. Same little ceremony, and she opens Matt’s oyster and says…BOTH of you are LUCKY! And she showed him a beautiful black pearl.
Wow! :thumbsup2:cheer2:

The lady standing behind me watching us said…”would you go buy me a lottery ticket today?” I responded with right after I buy mine.
:rotfl: No kidding!

But, for the first time ever, I stayed awake during the end of the entire ride!
:rotfl: good for you! :cheer2::rotfl2::rotfl::lmao:

just to stave off any more impatient memes...

what are you trying to say?

Mo and Billie have corrupted you too Rachel?

a beautiful black pearl.

OMG I am SO SO SO JEALOUS!!!!! do you hear me??? JEALOUS!!!!

Great update! Love tonga toast! Although I can barely eat anything the rest of the day after that breakfast.

Eating more has never been a problem for me! :rotfl:

Tomorrowland was not as great as it could have been (the preview at Epcot was great but I think the movie fell short). But it wasn't horrible. It's worth a watch once.

That is what I have heard. I will probably watch it on Netflix.

I can't believe that PP photographer you had at Morocco! How rude. I hope Disney magic helped you forget about that incident as quickly as it happened.

It did!

The pearls are so cute! Are you going to make some matching earrings from your duo pearls?

Probably not...I am not a jewelry person. I am thinking about maybe seeing if I can do something to add them to the Pandora bracelets that were purchased during this trip. I think that may make nice Christmas gifts.

[/QUOTE]

Good thing I missed the caramel apples, because one of those may have come out of there with me too! I will definitely be stopping here again!

Teppan Edo is alright. It's fun when you are there, but there are much better experiences at Epcot. Have you been to the restaurant at Morocco? I had a great meal last year with my sister. I was surprised at the experience (I guess I wasn't expecting much) and the food was delicious.

I agree about more interesting places to eat in Epcot. Which one...the on in the actual pavilion or Spice Road on the lake? Nothing at Spice Road calls to me. The one in the pavilion looked more interesting. I will have to try it one day...

LOL, your next day was when we almost ran into each other at Sci Fi! Can't wait to read more about that!

It is the next day! I unfortunately have just started writing it, so it may be a little while before I post it!

Wow! :thumbsup2:cheer2:

:rotfl: No kidding!

:rotfl: good for you! :cheer2::rotfl2::rotfl::lmao:

They did at one point in time, but I have no idea of when they "ran out" of pins. Staying awake during Spaceship Earth is quite the challenge for me!

I did see the merchandise. I NEED the pin and ornament. Those are a given. But is it wrong of me to want the toque even though I would never wear it? LOL!

Definitely do the Pick a Pear with the kiddos! They would have a blast!

I like Kona for breakfast, but it's not one I would normally seek out unless it was really convenient (like staying at the Poly! LOL!).

what are you trying to say?

OMG I am SO SO SO JEALOUS!!!!! do you hear me??? JEALOUS!!!!

Um, I think I communicated that well...your picture(s) is(are) right on track! LOL!

It really is a beautiful pearl. I tried talking it out of him, but he wasn't budging. I thought I had a picture of the ring, but I do not, and again Matt is still crazy busy. So as soon as possible, I will get that posted. It really is nice and appropriate!

Thanks for keeping me on track...

It's the Restaurant Marrakesh. The food was great. There were belly dancers too. All very themed and appropriate...but really the food was just so good. I was surprised as I don't hear much about it at all.

It is the next day! I unfortunately have just started writing it, so it may be a little while before I post it!

Can't wait to read it!

Sounds like you and Matt had a great day! First, the figment shirt is fantastic and this is from someone who is not the biggest figment fan! :p

Ugh, poopy photographer! We'll just ignore him, not even worth a comment!

Omg, do not ever mention falling asleep in spaceship earth to my DH; akin to sacrilege!! :)

The pearls are beautiful. And I need to give the caramel popcorn a try! I always hear it's fabulous.

Great update and sounds like you and Matt had a nice day at EPCOT except for the rude, obnoxious PP. I hate people who think they are better than others because of their preconceived notions about who might have more money than someone else. You cannot assume how much someone has in a bank account and how much someone is deep in debt. And I am guessing it is his parents who actually pay the bills for his home in the expensive neighborhood, not him. Someone should remind him of that! I have got this type of treatment before at the makeup counter or cashier at the nice department stores. I just smile and think, well, if you are working behind the counter, it is obvious that you have to work for a living like everyone else!

They took a lady out on stretcher, but she appeared to be alert and talking.
How scary! :scared:

Kona Café!
I still need to cross this one off my bucket list! Hopefully next year! ::yes::

THIS LOOKS SO GOOD. WANT WANT WANT. :hyper:

Of course we headed to The Land right away. I NEEDED to ride Soarin.
Yeah you did, girl! :thumbsup2

We were ushered to row one (YEAH!)
WOOOOO! SCORE! :woohoo: Front row is the best, especially if you can get centered!

As anticipated, Matt had a great time and conceded that it was well worth the wait.
Yay! I'm so glad that he loved it! :goodvibes

We did wander around the shops here, and I just spent some time people watching while he looked at more.
The Morocco pavilion is WONDERFUL for just wandering and browsing! I can get lost in there! :cloud9:

It was like he was annoyed because I was a single old fat lady wanting a picture…
What is UP with this?! I experience this with PP photographers all the time! It's so frustrating! >:(

Once we finished there we headed to Japan. Matt wanted to look in the Japanese department store…I assume at all the anime/pokemon stuff, etc. While in there, I saw they were doing the Pick-a-Pearl Ceremony. I love this story! But I'm also super jealous! I did this once, back in 2009, and I picked the ugliest nastiest hairiest gnarliest oyster I could find in the tank... and got the most boring, average pearl ever. Hoping I will have better luck this December! :goodvibes

I had to get to the Carmel shop.
Me too, girl! Another thing for my bucket list! I LOVE caramel! Om nom nom! :bitelip:

We wanted to check out inside of Mexico, but we were getting a little tired, and we did not have the patience to figure out where the wheelchair entrance was located.
For next time: As you're facing the pyramid, it's to the right! There's a ramp that takes you right up and through a hidden side door! :thumbsup2

But, for the first time ever, I stayed awake during the end of the entire ride! This is usually my nap time at Epcot. My son thinks it is hysterical that I fall asleep in this ride. But I made it this time!
I've napped in the dump area for Spaceship Earth, but never ON the ride itself. :rotfl:

On the way out of the park, I took these photopass pictures. This photographer was fantastic. She loves Figment too, she noticed my shirt and had me do several different poses.
HOORAY for a good photographer to make up for the crappy one earlier! :cutie:

Twinsies! :P

This is AWESOME....it's MO & BILLIE...that or is a picture of Tweedle Dee & Tweedle Dum more appropriate? LOL! Love Ya! Mean It!
Yup, that's us! :thumbsup2
