Disney Gift Card Deals

I think I've jumped into this too late. If I book a room only for mid-March trip with the current promo, would I have time to churn for savings that would be worthwhile? Room only has to be paid upon arrival, so I've got a few weeks
Maybe one churn. You have to remember that while the Target GC from Raise (or Cardpool etc) is digital, as is the eBay GC from Target, the Target GCs from GCM and the Disney GCs from Target are physical GCs that need to be shipped.

Plus, you have to wait for the GCs to become available since both Target .com and GCM run out of GCs quite regularly.

How does that work? I'm genuinely curious because the last ebucks reward didn't let me combine it with eBay GCs. Had to "buy" and eBay GC to combine with other eBay GC for a Target GC purchase.

I had issues as well and ultimately found that I could use both ebay bucks and ebay gift cards ONLY IF I went slightly over and put something on my credit card via paypal. I think its because if there is a balance left on one of the ebay gift cards you're using, ebay wants to use that up before using your ebay bucks.

That made a lot of sense because Marionnette also the remaining balance after applying GC and eBay Bucks. I'll keep that in mind, thanks!

Maybe someone can give me advice on this.

So I purchased gc's on Zen. Everything worked fine. However I had a $30+ balance on one remaining Target card. I planned to buy an additional card but I was making sure everything came in correctly. So on Friday I went into my account to purchase the Disney gc and the Target gc had no balance. Tried multiple times. Nothing. So I contacted Zen and they immediately refunded my money. Very pleased with them.

So here is where my issue comes in. I read on here about how to look at my wallet on Target and I did just that. I went to that Target gc and there is a charge on it that says this:

BROOKHURST

for location. What? Not where I am other purchase shows Target.com and is related to me. Why did this happen? Was my account hacked? I don't want to contact Target to call attention to my purchase but I am concerned that my account is not safe. Is it likely that the person who sold it to Zen used up the balance after selling it? Should I relay the info to Zen? I am wanting to buy an additional card to finalize my reservation with Disney but this makes me nervous.

Just need some advice, if anyone is willing to help me out.

I ran across these links in the past few days. I don't know if this is related to the banning in some way, but it is worth thinking about. What I gather is that Target giftcards are not as secure as we think, whether they've previously been used or not.

I've been doing more research on various companies and gift cards. I think, could be wrong, that Target is trying to stop the reselling of merchandise credit (gift cards you get when doing a return), not so much gift cards. I have decided that I won't purchase any cards with odd amounts on them like $24.18, etc. I like Target so I'm going to choose that they're doing this to protect us, not so much to prevent us, while they hopefully work out the kinks in their gift card system. I don't know, just something I've been thinking about since reading these articles and many more.

Same for me. I used $100 in ebucks, $10 ebay gift card and put a remaining $15 on my cc through Paypal.

One of the victims in the above links who had their cards drained via the mobile app said this:

"stored my gift card on their mobile website and three days later my balance was gone! They were able to tell me that it was made to purchase EBAY gift cards which were emailed to this individual! They have an email address, which they wouldn't release to me but yet nothing can be done? That should be a start for an investigation but they refuse to look into this matter. Very disappointed in such a huge company!"

This transaction looks just like many of our transactions on a daily basis.....Target gift card used to purchase eBay gift cards. Although fairly obvious, this offers a small amount of insight into what Target sees with fraudulent transactions and how they could easily (and wrongly) apply the method to legitimate purchasers resulting in some (not all) of the bans that seem to be more prevalent as of late. Also, it's not clear, did the thief obtain the gift card number and sell it on a third party site (Raise, Gift Card Zen, etc.) by which one of us actually unsuspectingly made the eBay card purchase or did they purchase the eBay card themselves and have it sent to an email they control? How does Target know who's in on it? Maybe they'll just ban people that "look" suspicious according to their parameters (we still need more data points on what those are) and call them resellers since that's already in their policies.

I would not be surprised to see them institute a policy where gift cards cannot be purchased with other gift cards at some time in the near future. Then again, I am surprised that they have not recoded their systems to eliminate the 5% redcard discount for non-redcard purchases. Surely somebody has visibility to it? I think if we added up the savings from this board alone in using the loophole, there is more than enough lost money to cover the cost of the system update. Or maybe it's just easier to randomly pick people and ban them when they're purchasing gift cards with gift cards.

Ugh, friendlyadvice, that is scary. I have read from people on slickdeals saying gift cards were drained from their mobile app too. And in those cases, just like this one, Target offered no help.

I just ordered eBay from target. Makes me so nervous now every time I go to buy gift cards from Target. However, not sure it matters, I used gift cards from GCM. I think I might be done buying from the resellers.

I got the ebay $200 for $195 - through ebates. Then used the ebay to buy Lowes since GCM was out of stock, and earned ebates again and 4x ebay bucks. When those come in any day now, I will go to Lowe's and buy ebay to be ready for the next whirl. I just don't see (yet) that I am earning any money to apply to hotel stay. Maybe after I churn it a time or two it will make better sense. I hope.

I have around $28 worth of gift cards loaded to my account. If I lose them I will just let it go, but no more storing them there for me.

eBay churning has lost its appeal to me (I've only done it twice). Too stressful and it potentially may flag your account.

Unfortunately, you will not be able to use the Lowe's gift card to buy a gift card. Lowe's does not allow it.

Will Lowe's let you buy a gift card with a gift card. I had heard that they won't so I'm interested in seeing how that works. It would be nice to have another option for when GCM is out of stock on Target.

Has anyone tried the iconsumer rebate site? They are offering 8% back on ebay purchases this month. I did see where there is a $20 rebate per month limit on ebay cash back. I might give it a try.

Well, the reason for going through Target .com is to get that extra 5% off with each purchase you make on the website. Skip that step and you leave a lot of money on the table.

I don't know if you can use the Lowe's GC to buy another GC. I thought that they had put a stop to that, but it might only be for using the egift cards purchased on places like Raise, which are more than likely merchandise credits for items returned without a receipt.

But so far it looks like you've gotten the following:
  • $5 off the purchase of a $200 ebay GC
  • $2 from ebates for making that purchase
  • $8 in ebay bucks for making that purchase
  • Another $2 from ebates for buying $200 in Lowes GCs on ebay
  • Another $8 in ebay bucks for the Lowes GC purchase.
  • Total savings = $25
Of course, those $25 aren't all in the form of cash. $5 is money "not spent" in the initial purchase. $4 is ebates rebate money but you won't get it until some time in April. And $16 is in the form of ebay bucks that must be spent on ebay after you received them on April 3.

i finally finished buying gift cards and paying off our trip. Not including the 25% VISA cardholder discount (i think we saved closed to $1,000.00 when we added that offer to our package, I was able to save $919.17!!

this was done by buying Target ecards on Raise.com, then buying disney cards f targets website linked with the red card.

My process for this was to go to target's website and load up 3-$100 cards and 4-$50 cards ($500.00 total). Once I had them I would go buy roughly $500 in target cards from raise.com. I did this for two reason, 1. didn't want to be stuck with Target cards, 2. Didnt want the cards to sit being unused if target ran out of cards (happened once lol) in fear of it being drained.

i also used my credit card which gets 1.5% discount on all purchases :)

So now I've paid off the trip and have about $2k in discounted gift cards for food and fun stuff!!

forgot to add...

i recently found out about this discount card thing.. so the savings are REALLY REAL lol

I really feel that time is ticking on the Target discount advantage. Either them removing the 5% off with the Redcard glitch or even worse not being able to purchase a Disney gift card with a Target gift card is possibly closer than we think.
