Wanted to report on our incredible Poly stay from 8/23-9/1! We booked under the magical deal. We came back Thursday night and are all still in total Disney withdrawl! This is going to be a bit long so bear with me!

This was our first stay at the Poly and I have to say I was worried that it wouldn't live up to the hype or how I imagined it would be. Let me say this: it was paradise! I felt totally immersed in the tropical feel! From the wonderful fragrance in the lobby to the tiki torches, the music playing around the resort, the lush landscaping and theming! Amazing!

We were totally thrilled with our Poly experience and are very spoiled for other resorts now! I will post some pictures later when I get them uploaded and feel free to ask any questions!

Thanks for your review. I'm glad you had a great time and enjoyed the Poly. We have stayed at other resorts and while we've loved them all, the Poly will always be our favorite. The tropical atmosphere and overall surroundings of the Poly is hard to beat as it's just so beautiful and relaxing. Looking forward to your pics :goodvibes.

7 days I'll be at the Poly!! So excited :D Hoping we get our requested building.

Hope your building request is met and you have a great trip :wizard:.

First visit at Disney for us as adults and our 4 & 6 yo. We will be staying garden view CL at the Poly and I have a preliminary request for a 3rd floor balcony, but to be honest each floor sounds like they have their own advantages. I also requested "mid-hallway".Would anyone recommend requesting another type of room (e.g. 1st floor for outside access, 2nd to be closer to club floor snacks). Any feedback would be SO appreciated. Also, since we won't be able to see Wishes from our room do kids every come out into the lounge in PJs?

I agree that all 3 floors have their advantages, it just depends on what your preferences are. My request would be 3rd floor for the balcony (like you've requested), but some people like 1st floor to be able to walk out the sliding door onto the patio. The 2nd floor rooms are very convenient for accessing the lounge as the lounge is on that floor, but there are no balconies. To answer your question about pj's in the lounge....I don't think it's a problem to take kids to the lounge in their pj's to watch the fireworks :).

God help us.... the craziness is getting worse. We leave in 4 days (me, DH and my mom and dad) and my dad just got bit on his foot by a brown recluse!!! His foot looks awful. They've got him on meds....pray it gets better enough by Saturday!

Hope he's okay and you get the craziness worked out. I would be freaking out if one of my family gotten bitten by something like that.

You're in for a treat, Poly CL is probably my favorite place to stay at WDW. For us, third floor is our first priority as we very much enjoy a balcony (although this has started to change as kids get older where I can see us enjoying a first floor room just as much). I also prefer to be close to the lounge but that's not as important, Hawaii just isn't that big. For a GV room, I agree with your thinking to target mid-building (the only room I really wouldn't want in Hawaii is the first GV rooms on any floor closest to the lounge side of the building). Personally being on the second floor/same as the lounge is not important to us one way or the other. There's a staircase in the lounge to all three floors and the elevator is also right there, always convenient. Any questions, feel free to ask. Also check out the club level thread if you haven't found that yet. Have a great trip!

OMGosh. I hope it all resolves for you. I also get completely stressed before a vacation because I worry about getting everything done before I leave.

We just left a Poly GV CL room on the third floor. 3523 and 3522 - we loved the room - they were at the end of the hall but the building is not that big so it is not a long walk. We did use the balcony but we enjoy the 2nd floor rooms as well as you can be closer to the lounge. The first floor would be nice to but with small kids I would get nervous that they could open the door if it is not locked and walk away. For the upper floors there is an elevator but we used the stairs every time. We had a view of the Oasis pool - it was lovely. We saw many kids come into the lounge in their PJs to watch the fireworks. If a balcony is important request a 3rd floor - if not a 2nd floor would be just as nice.

You will love it - we do.

Praying for you. We had our share of craziness right before our trip that I thought we would have to cancel some of it - but it all worked out. Praying yours does too.

Does anyone else's online check-in look like this? They completely eliminated all building options except Aotearoa :-( I'm still calling and faxing-in a request, but this makes me really nervous :-(

Looks just like mine as well... I'm just going to fax and call, skipping that part all together.

Ugh. Hopefully it's a temporary glitch? It's kind of weird that they would leave Aotearoa instead of just eliminating all building choices...

Not at all weird.

They truncated to 5 total, and after dropping all the "lolno" stuff, had 4 generics and left the first alpha longhouse (i.e., the one that starts with A).

It's a very IT thing to have done.

Just updating...my Dad's foot is holding steady. While the bite looks nasty, I think/hope it may have just been a random spider (maybe a wolf spider) rather than a recluse since he didn't get sick and it's responding to the meds. Plus, the vet came by to check out the horses who were not feeling well or injured and they're all going to be okay!

Whew...now just 3 days and a wake up! Time to concentrate on packing and cleaning!

So, we are complete Poly "newbies". We have reservations for a Standard View room, beyond that I have no idea what to request for the room. One of my sons thinks it would be cool to watch the monorail, but with that view do you also get the parking lot? I think that we would like to be close to the TTC and the bus stop (maybe, I really have no idea!)

It's been like that for almost a week now. What's bad is that I had my requests selected prior to the change and it deleted my requests when the option for Tuvalu was removed. I ended up calling in to make my requests.

So those that have checked in and made requests - you may want to double check that they're still in there!!

The buildings closest to the TTC are the DVC studios, so they're not options for a Standard Room. For a monorail view, Rarotonga and Aotearoa are right near the lobby and offer that view. The parking lot is largely shielded by foliage.

We just stayed in Rarotonga 3818, standard view room. It has a greenery view, even though it is actually parking lot behind it :) The building is 10 steps from the side entrance to the GCH on one end and extremely close to the bus stop on the other. While we didn't love the Poly the way others do, we really enjoyed our stay and the convenient location.

Aloha Poly peeps! It's been awhile since I've been on. We've been super busy moving into a new home and life is just so hectic. But I need to get up to date on all the Poly and Disney news so I can plan our next vacay. We had a super bad experience on our last trip and had to move over the the GF. The poly really did try to make it right, but it was just too much. We swore off the poly and thought we'd do GF or Beach Club this next trip. But alas. We love the poly and hope it was just reno stress that made it so bad last time. We're giving it another shot. We'll stay club level this time for an extra treat.

So excited!! :)
