Are we finally sailing? The Disney Difference Sep/Oct 2016 it's a wrap!

A minor detour. I am a Harry Potter fan. I have wanted a wand from Ollivanders in Universal for ages. I regret not getting one when we went to Diagon Alley. We are unlikely to go back as I found Universal difficult from a mobility point of view. So hard to justify entry just to buy a wand! Corinna had kindly said she would get me one on her upcoming trip but then I realised you could buy them online from Harry Potter studios here in the UK! Of course! I recall they sold them in the store there. Thanks anyway Corinna how kind.

So I have ordered a Professfor McGonogall wand as I still had some birthday money my FIL gave me. Not sure what he will say when I tell him I bought a wand..

Can't wait for it to arrive!

Haha!! I really love it how you make sure that your birthday money goes for those silly things!! And I totally get wanting a wand. I have looked at them longingly, too.

Thank you! I don't get on that well with my FIL so I look forward to telling him of my wand purchase lol

The idea of gift money is to spend it on something that will delight you and provide memories! Glad you were able to get something your heart desired.

Found your TR today and am caught up. Sounds like you are having a great trip so far for the most part. Sorry you had some not so great/rude service at the non-Disney restaurants. Love the Minnie Purse! Looking forward to seeing the adventures.

Many years back (I believe when the movies were just getting started) we received a catalog in the mail and it had all sorts of Harry Potter things. I bought Ron Weasley's wand because I fancied having the one that turned Gilderoy Lockhart into a vegetable and sent him to the funny farm! :rotfl2:

Just found your report and i'm loving it! You have such a way with words, you are great!! I have to say I love your wheelchair! Captain America could not be any cooler!

I am so sorry for the service you received at Olive Garden and Longhorn. We love both of those places and can understand how bad service can be sometimes.
:( I'm glad you have had already had many "Disney Difference" situations happen. Keep it coming! I can't wait to read more and hear all about this cruise!

How great you are joining us. Many welcomes! It is a shame about the restaurants. We will give them another go when we return. Thank you I hope you enjoy the cruise posts soon.

Day 5

Wednesday 21st September Mug rage, EPCOT and Dana

This morning I am a victim of mug rage... A guy clearly not a morning person decides he does not want to wait his turn in line at the refillable mug station so marges barges both myself and another innocent out of the way. Whilst the other person was gifted with fully balancing I am when out of wheelchair am bambi. As a consequence I fall smash into the counter. There is a gasp from other guests but no apology from Mr Rude. No he just fills his mug of fury and goes. I have really banged my elbow and it hurts. There is no way to fill up your mug without standing which I can do for short periods but I am not up to be shoved.

Jo was annoyed when I told her what happened. She asked me if I was hurt and I said I was ok just a little shocked. We went back to our room , picked up the car and went into EPCOT.

We had a FP+ for soarin but no FP+ for Frozen Ever After. FEA was like gold dust I just could not secure one before or during the vacation. From research I could see I can't actually get in the boat as my hips are fused and the sides too high but Jo kindly offered to lift me in. Normally I would pass on it but I really wanted to do this ride so I took her up on the kind offer. Our plan was to go straight to the ride get a return time on the DAS and then do our FP for Soarin returning to Frozen ever after.

On entering the park I was clutching my elbow. Jo said let me look and then was horrified to find it was bleeding quite bad and very bruised. Being on steroids makes skin break very easily. Jo wanted to go to the medical centre. Having a compromised immune system I need to antibac and band aid any open wound to stop bacteria getting in. Last year at Aquatica... Oh my I got celluitis..... It was not pleasant.

Jo asked at Guest services where the medical centre was. We quickly found the medical centre and they could not be more helpful. A lovely nurse patched me up and even bagged us extra bandages etc to go. Soon we were out of there.

I was pleased with a Hidden Mickey bruise..

Jo then surprised me that when she explained what had occurred that morning in guest relations they kindly gave us a return time for Frozen ever after! How kind. So we went on to do this.

Jo lifted me into the boat and we both really enjoyed this ride. It is very cute. I won't give any spoilers.

We then went on to do the new Soarin update. Very nervous as we really liked the original. What on earth were they thinking with the way some of the buildings now appear curved! The Eiffel Tower looks like the leaning tower of Pisa. Plus a couple of the buildings to me looked very digitally animated. That said we still enjoyed it.

We also did living in the land. I really like that attraction.

It was time to go as were seeing our friend Dana early afternoon. She was coming to SSR to see us. I meet Dana online on the DIS doing my first FE on DCL. We have been friends and stayed in contact ever since. She lives locally in Kissemme with her lovely family.

We had lunch at Disney Springs no prize for question the Earl...

Then we headed back to SSR. And relaxed by the pool while we waited for Dana to call.

To be continued..

Wow!! I can't beleive what kind of people exist!! First it is rude to barge in there regardless of who is standing there. But from the pictures you have posted everyone with half way decent eye sight can see that you are a little fragile. I am just glad that nothing worse than a bruise came out of it! I would think with less padding your bones are in more danger than on an average person, too.

The first aid statin in Epcot is kind of cool in my opinion. It kind of feels a bit like time travel back into the 80s when Epcot was new. We went there a few years ago because Michael had a headache developing and they hapily gave him some ibuprofen. I had no idea you could get that there!

But at least you managed to get onto FEA in return! I am glad that you liked it!

I still haven't seen the new Soarin yet, but I have heard some comments that the distortions aren't worse than in the original one. The difference is just that the new one has so many more buildings and with this straight lines. Nature is more forgiving to distortions than artificial straight lines... But thay should have known this in my opinion and used less buildings...

Newsflash!

Minnie handbag photo bomb..

Just to get a glimpse at the red delight. I put her for the moment at home with Yoda and the gang..

Thanks for your kind reply. Yes I have severe osteopororis sadly. Bones of a 98 year old. I am Yoda.

That was great they gave Michael some medication. Btw I started reading your past TR on California. Hope you don't mind. I adore that state. Can't wait to go back sometime. Yosemite! Yeah.

I totally agree the lanscape was amazing. Just don't do buildings!

How awful that the creep bashed you over!!! I'm glad that you were able to get patched up and get on Frozen. The Minnie bag is so cute!

Of course I don't mind!!! I post those trip reports so that others can read them! And I am happy to hear that you are enjoying it! I should be able to finish it in the next few weeks, the rest is already written, I am just waiting for Michael to put in his comments...

Day 5 continued

Soon my tracfone was ringing and Dana had arrived at SSR reception. Jo went up to meet her and bring her to sit with us at the Grandstand pool. It was a lovely sunny day.

We said our hello's and sat and chatted. Dana brought us some amazing sweet goodies from a place called Arby's. I had not heard of this chain before Dana but it's sugar pastry are a hit. We exchanged some gifts, Dana had got us some cool things one of my favourites was flamingo straws lol. They would get used a lot on the cruise..

image.jpeg

Dana had done a Steampunk Mad Hatter themed unbirthday party for her daughter recently. She sent me photos of the props she herself had made for it. They were amazing. Knowing how much I was impressed by it Dana had kindly brought two of the hats she made for me to see in real life. We had fun posing with those...

image.jpeg
When we had chatted for a while Dana came back to our room as we had one more gift for her.. Recall the Gator! Well Dana loved this. It was at home in her pool later that weekend to the amusement of her husband and kids. I think it might might a guest appearance at Halloween also.

We rested in the room and later we went to Olive Garden again. I am sorry to say the service had not improved. What a shame. This time it was both the food and service that was poor. My pasta was so overcooked you could have decorated christmas cards with it. They reluctantly remade it for me. We left with a heavy heart. We caught some shows in our room and watched the balloon bob around until the sandman came to visit.

Next up back to EPCOT and Beaches and Cream ( back to Disney service and the Disney Difference )
