We have 2 pirates & 3 princesses to feed!: Our March 2017 trip with the QSDP *FINAL UPDATE 4/25*

Your family is precious and your trip looked amazing! Love reading reviews and seeing families make happy memories and Disney! Thanks for sharing with all of us.

Thank you so much for reading :thumbsup2

Hey there! First off your family is the cutest. I am from Pittsburgh as well (we live in NC now). I’m also the oldest of 5 and let me tell you GOD BLESS YOU for taking all of them on a vacation! They seem so well behaved! My parents took us all to Disney a few times when we were kids, and they are some of the best memories, although I am sure it is a ton of work with all of the strollers and everything that comes with traveling with 7 people!

I love Pop, I think it’s such a fun resort! Their food court is one of my favorites and it is so nice to walk to Art of Animation to try out their food court too.

It sounds like your first Magic Kingdom day was awesome!! BOG breakfast seems like a great deal for a quick service credit.

I love those Grey goose slushies, the one they have in France for Flower and Garden is even better. So good!! I am cracking up at your husband downing the margaritas and then running off to purchase his hat!

Thank you so much for your kind words and reading along :thumbsup2

Thank you everyone for such kind words and reading my report. I had every intention of doing an update yesterday but DD3 talked me into an impromptu trip to the zoo while her older sibs were in school (we've been annual members for years and they are just about done with zoo trips, lol!)

Day 6: Monday 3/6 Goofy's Candy Co., Pop Century Petals Pool Bar, Everything Pop lunch and dinner

Today was our planned "off day" from the parks. Our initial goal was to head to Disney Springs late in the morning to visit the shops (especially the Lego store for DS8 and DD10), hit up one of the well regarded counter service restaurants in Disney Springs for lunch (Blaze Pizza, Wolfgang Puck Express, or Earl of Sandwich), and enjoy some pool time back at Pop in the afternoon. As we got our day started it became evident that the majority of our crew wanted to treat this day as a true "off day" which meant sleeping in, hanging out in the rooms, and hitting the pool later; not having to wait at the bus stop to be somewhere to do more walking around, lol! DS8 and DD10 weren't having it and really wanted to go to Disney Springs to get to the Lego store. On our last Disney trip we took a day to go to Legoland which was a big hit with us; and since we wouldn't be able to go back there on this trip I promised DS8 and DD10 that we would get to visit the Lego store in Disney Springs (we don't have a Lego store or Lego Discovery center back home). So DS8, DD10, and I hopped on a bus to Disney Springs while everyone else stayed back and enjoyed lounging back in the rooms. I understood where they were coming from though. We truly did need a day off and a break from the park crowds (which were higher than we anticipated going into this trip). Once we arrived at Disney Springs we headed to the Marketplace and straight to the Lego Store. After spending some time in the Lego store we stopped in the World of Disney store to pick up teacher gifts then made stops in Once Upon A Toy and the Pin Trader store. Our last stop was at Goofy's Candy Co. to use up some snack credits for some treats. In addition to using snack credits for treats to take back to the room, we also used snack credits for the Goofy's Glaciers icees. DD10 and I got the banana flavor and DS8 got the apple flavor. These were delicious and refreshing!:sunny:

When we returned to Pop, we decided to just order pizza to go from the food court and have lunch back in the rooms. With the quick service dining plan, you are able to get a large pizza with any toppings and drinks for two quick service meal credits. Back home we usually go through three or four large pizzas easily so I ordered three pizzas. Pop's pizza is pretty good and the slices are huge! In hindsight, we would have been fine getting just two large pizzas for our crew since the slices were so big. This left us with plenty to graze off of later (which worked out great since we were hungry when we got back from the pool later that afternoon). I have no idea why I took a picture of the pizza box instead of the actual pizzas :confused3. As you can see I am a rather amateur dining report writer  Next time, next time….

After our pizza lunch we decided to head down to the Hippy Dippy Pool. It wasn't particularly hot on this day (only in the upper 70's if I'm remembering correctly); but the pool water was still comfortable and we had fun. The pool was pretty empty too. I attribute this to the fact that the weather was so comfortable and beautiful and the park hours were shorter than they are in the peak and summer seasons; so people were probably taking advantage of that to be in the parks. I am sure the Hippy Dippy Pool stays packed in the summer afternoons. DH accompanied the big kids to the main pool while I hung out in the kiddie pool area with DD3 for a bit. She enjoyed the fountains in the Pop kiddie pool. I like the Pop kiddie pool's zero depth entry set up unlike the set up of the kiddie pool at All-Star Music (where we stayed in a family suite back on our first Disney trip). For anyone that has a Pop stay coming up, they have towels at the Hippy Dippy pool (but not at the quiet pools). As we wrapped up our pool time, DH and I decided to get a couple drinks at the Petals Pool Bar. We ordered the Pina Colavas and they were delicious (the bartender was generous with the rum too, lol!). They are smooth and creamy without the raspberry flavor overpowering the drink. I'm not a real big fan of raspberries; but I love Pina coladas so I enjoyed this drink. It is so tempting to just slurp it down instead of sipping on it, lol! We liked the Pina Colava so much that DH and I each ordered a second one. :drinking1

We went back to our rooms to shower, munch on the rest of our pizza (cold at this point but still good, lol!), and just relax. I threw in some laundry while DD3 and DH napped, the twins played on their iPads, and DS8 and DD10 worked on their new Lego sets. We eventually made it down to the food court later in the evening for dinner. We all decided to get burger meals and I ordered the Southwesterner burger which is topped with pepper jack cheese, guacamole, Pico de Gallo, lettuce, sour cream, and tortilla strips. It was pretty good and definitely filling. I chose fries and pasta as my two sides. The pasta salad was underwhelming though and I didn’t really finish it. Instead of getting drinks with our meals (since we had refillable mugs), we got desserts to take back to the room (muffins for breakfast in the morning and Mickey rice crispy treats). After dinner we hung out in the arcade. We unfortunately missed doing the Hustle in the lobby (darn it!)

As our "off day" came to a close, we enjoyed the view of the Hollywood Studios fireworks from in front of our room (we were on the third floor, 50's building 3 lake view) before calling it a night. Well I stayed up to finish the laundry, lol!.

I'll bet the kids loved Lego Land more great pictures. Glad you and DH got to enjoy some frozen :drinking1. I don't know why but they just taste better in Disney ;)
Looks like you had the perfect down day:goodvibes

Wow, this is a great trip report! Thanks so much for sharing!
DH and I are going this November, planning to do mostly QS, so this is really helpful.
Also, I agree with many previous posters--your family is adorable!

Day 7: Tuesday 3/7 - MK Sleep Hollow, Storybook Treats, Gaston's Tavern, Pop Century Everything Pop dinner

Our order of business for the day revolved primarily around Fantasyland at MK. We arrived at rope drop to go to the Princess Fairytale Hall where we planned to immediately get in line to meet Cinderella and Elena of Avalor at rope drop, then use our first three fast passes for the Princess Tiana and Rapunzel meet and greet, the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, and Peter Pan.

Since we had a jam packed morning, we were ready to eat well before what was a typical time for us to have lunch. We initially walked over to Pinocchio Village Haus; but it wasn't yet open for lunch. So we decided to head over to Sleepy Hollow. We each had their sweet and spicy chicken waffle sandwich which comes with a drink and counts as a quick service meal credit. Even though it within itself isn't a full meal, the chicken and waffle complement each other well and the sandwich was rather filling. The chicken is marinated in a sauce that is the perfect blend of spicy and sweet and it didn't have the tough dryness that is common with fast food fried chicken breast sandwiches. The photo of my sandwich looks kinda boring (sorry, lol!) because the sandwich is **supposed** to be topped with coleslaw; and as you may remember from earlier in the report, I don't do coleslaw under any circumstances . But I promise you it was pretty good. :thumbsup2

After finishing up at Sleepy Hollow, we were able to successfully get additional fast passes for other Fantasyland attractions as well as the Tomorrowland Speedway. DS8 and DD10 were scheduled to do the Pirates League in the afternoon but we ended up having to *eat* $20 in fees for cancelling this beyond the 24 hour window because they insisted they wanted to hit the pool later in the afternoon and not commit to keeping their makeover intact since we weren't staying at MK all day. :sad2:
This reminded me of how flexibility is a must with my crew and I can't imagine having $70 in fees ($10 per person X 7) if we had to cancel an ADR on the same day. I understand the credit card guarantee and cancellation fees were put in place because of the problem of people hoarding popular ADRs and no shows; but a lot can happen in 23 hours, 18 hours, 10 hours....and I think we would have did a couple more TS meals if the thought of having to *swallow* $70 in fees wasn't looming in the back of my head . I think maybe a 5 or 6 hour cancellation window would be more practical for my crew and get us to commit to more TS dining. :scratchin It's all good though...as they say, everything isn't meant for everybody

Time to use up some snack credits....

Ice cream and root beer floats at Storybook Treats :goodvibes

We stopped over to meet our Hundred Acre Woods friends nearby

We decided we couldn't leave MK without getting cinnamon rolls and Lefou's Brew at Gaston's Tavern. The cinnamon rolls are absolutely divine and can easily be shared; but we are greedy and (with the exception of DS15) each got one . LeFou's Brew is delicious and a treat within itself. It's reminiscent of a frothy apple cider, but very much a unique and tasty beverage.:thumbsup2

DS15 can't tolerate many sweets and didn't get a cinnamon roll. He requested popcorn, so with the bucket in hand I escorted my oldest pirate to the nearest popcorn cart. We ran into a photopass photographer on the way; and DS15, the popcorn bucket, and I got a nice pic together

One more fill up for the road because MK popcorn is the BEST (we probably like popcorn a little too much) :goodvibes

After spending some time at the bowling pin pool, we rested up a bit and eventually headed down to Everything Pop to enjoy our last food court dinner. I had the very tasty pot roast dinner with mashed potatoes, gravy, and green beans. Although it had some fatty parts to it; it was prepared well and I enjoyed it nonetheless. Again, since we had our refillable mugs, we were able to substitute desserts for drinks and got fruit cups, muffins, and more tie dye cheesecake. Everything Pop is really a great food court. I think having a good food court definitely made our primarily counter service dining experience worthwhile. After dinner I took some pics of the shadow boxes in the Pop lobby that brought back memories of my childhood :goodvibes. The Pop Century lobby also has this lovely fragrant, citrus like smell that I knew I would also miss .

That picture of all of you with Pooh and Tigger came out great! Sounds like you guys made the most of your last MK day. And there is no such thing as liking popcorn too much! :-)

You are my snacking and QS mentor! My list of snacks to get at MK is basically a copy of yours. Are the cinnamon rolls a snack credit? It looks like they make those waffles at Sleepy Hollow fresh (not frozen waffles) is that right??
