Well, are you willing to be in a Standard room if said room won't be eligible for a pool/marina overlook? We are planning on staying at poly next Aug. I know they are changing room designations.... should I book a standard room now or wait? Thoughts
Do you have any article on this? i had not heard of any changes and i booked a standard view room hoping for a 3rd floor samoa room.We are planning on staying at poly next Aug. I know they are changing room designations.... should I book a standard room now or wait? Thoughts
Well, are you willing to be in a Standard room if said room won't be eligible for a pool/marina overlook?
Are the rooms that are that have a view of the grounds only bad?
And are there a lot of rooms with parking lot/monorail views? And are they really not as relaxing as the others?
They are adding a Pool/Marina View category. It costs more. What? A marina view is not available in the standard room category anymore? Noooooooo! I love Fiji
I can't lie - I have been ruined by the Poly!Oh my goodness, thank you so much! This is really helpful and I so appreciate your input! (And we can't wait!! This may ruin me on moderates forever, though...)
Booked Poly for my 60th Birthday next June. Girls trip! Trader Sam's! I told my friends, only a touch of parks, mostly Poly, pools, naps, and oh yes, POLY. Parks after dark only this trip.
Just booked my stay at the Poly, second week of March. So excited!
lol, so I guess I shouldn't even try to fight itThis was our family as well. Our first stay was at CBR and haven't stayed at a moderate (unless it was a one night transitional stay) since 1993.
Thank you!We had a room in Fiji facing the Spirit of Aloha and you could see the monorail gliding by in the distance. Plus it had a beach view and a view of the wedding chapel at GF.
I can't lie - I have been ruined by the Poly!
DH and I are coming in late October for our first ever Poly stay! Sounds cliche, but getting to stay at Poly is a dream come true for me. I've been coming to WDW pretty regularly since 1976 when I was 3 years old. The Poly has always been my favorite resort and I've been wanting to stay there for as long as I can remember.
This is also our 15th anniversary and our first ever vacation without kids, so Poly was the only place I wanted to stay at. We're DVC owners at SSR, so at our 7 month mark (in March) I tried to make our reservation but everything was booked for our dates. I was so disappointed. I got on a waitlist, but didn't have much hope since we needed 6 nights. We got a room at Kidani Village, which was OK since we've never stayed there, but not getting Poly did put a damper on my excitement for the trip. But we were still going and staying someplace new so I tried to focus on the positives.
A couple months later I got an email saying our waitlist came through for the entire 6 nights! I thought it was a mistake so I checked our DVC account and there it was! I was so excited and shocked I couldn't get the words out to tell DH so I just shoved my iPad at him to show him. Then I started crying! It's kind of embarrassing to admit I was in tears because in all the years I've been coming to Disney I've only gotten teary twice before and that was because of an experience each of my kids had. But here I was, crying because a lifelong dream finally came true! I'm so impatient for October to get here, DH teases me that I'm like a kid on Christmas Eve waiting for Santa!
Almost everyday since then I check our DVC account to make sure the reservation didn't change.
So, my question is about Trader Sam's, which we definitely want to checkout since we're right there. How busy does it get in the evenings, generally? We'll be arriving at Poly around 6 pm on a Saturday. Is it usually really busy Saturday nights, like people lining up to get in? Is there a patio we can sit at instead of inside the bar? How close is it to Capt. Cook's?
Thank you so much for all the information in this thread. I love looking at everyone's pictures!
Streetmosphere!Just a quick update from my split WLV and Poly 14 day stay..... Just transferred into the Poly and got placed (as requested) in the Samoa Building. We used Touring plans 'fax' service to request the rooms at both places and have been extremely happy with the results! We are 2nd floor overlooking the smaller of the 2 pools in a great location. I'll update with some pictures. As per my other posts in the WLV thread, if anyone has any questions or requests let me know!
P.S. as a crazy start to the day, managed to inadvertently film 2 cousins street brawling at Epcot! Blood everywhere! I was really surprised at how slow / non responsive security was, if it wasn't for 2 rather large 'dudes' bear hugging them to death, it could've ended really different.
Not to be a downer but when we were at the Poly last year we saw ducks in the Oasis pool and thought it was cute. That was until I got a duck itch rash on my legs from the pool. I have wicked sensitive skin! I hope they have figured out a way to discourage the ducks from the pool so we can enjoy it this year.Yes, true. I don't technically know how you describe pools that use this system.... "salt water" is a bit of an overstatement because it's not like being in the ocean. But the water does have a saline taste to it. Love it BTW, so much easier on the eyes, skin, hair, etc.
I was wondering if I should request a handicap room for my mother in law. She will need to rent an EVC to get around the parks but she can get up and walk around. She is getting a hip replacement right after this trip so her mobility is limited. Getting around on her two feet in the room should be no problem but can she fit the EVC in a regular room?
